Chapter 205 The Board Meeting (2)
After she sent the message, the door entered and Bai Jiawei walked in.
Bai Jiawei flinched slightly when he saw her sitting there, "You're here already?"
He Xinyan smiled and stood up, kicking the bag of her things forward slightly, "Yes."
"Okay. The other board members should be here soon." Bai Jiawei sighed and sat down in his chair at the center of the room.
There were several minutes of silence as He Xinyan calmly took small sips of water and looked over at Bai Jiawei once in a while.
At exactly the time the meeting was supposed to start, the board of directors slowly filed into the meeting room one by one, and the presentation today was projected onto the screen.
When the presentation lit up, He Xinyan looked over at the person controlling the computer and then looked down towards her phone.
Before long, the meeting began.
He Xinyan didn't pay much attention during the entire tiresome two-hour meeting, which talked about the company's progress the past month and the plans for the future.
Finally, the presentation finished and Bai Jiawei sat back down.
"Are there any questions?"
A few shareholders raised their hands and Bai Jiawei answered all of their questions. There were a few seconds of silence before Bai Jiawei clapped his hands together.
"Okay, then that is for the board of director's meeting today. The next meeting will be in two to three months. I will contact you before the next meeting time. If there are no more questions, the meeting is -"
"One second!" He Xinyan raised one hand up.
Bai Jiawei furrowed his eyebrows together and folded his hands together, "What is it, CEO He?"
"I have a few questions that. . . I think should be asked in front of all the other shareholders." He Xinyan smiled and leaned forward against the table.
"Yes, CEO He. What is it?" Bai Jiawei put one hand onto the table impatiently.
He Xinyan sent the message that had been waiting in her messages for a while now, before closing her phone and pulling several file folders out from the bag underneath the table.
She walked around the large meeting room, putting a folder in front of each director, before finally putting one in front of Bai Jiawei.
"Please take a look at the pages inside the folder in front of you. The pages you have in front of you are copies of my mother - and the founder of the He Corporation, He Qin's daughter - He Yuxin's will. The one in my hands. . . is the original copy."
Bai Jiawei's eyes widened as he immediately flipped open the folder in front of him. After scanning through the top few sentences, his mouth also fell open in surprise as he immediately looked up at He Xinyan.
He Xinyan met with his gaze and smiled, "As you all know, our current chairman, Bai Jiawei, has 31% percent of the company's shares. This 31% all belonged to my mother before she died."
He Xinyan walked slowly around the room, not breaking eye contact with Bai Jiawei.
"As you can see from the will, she transferred 10% to my dad. For the remaining 21%, she gave 5% to my dad and 16% to me. I'll kindly do the math for you."
He Xinyan chuckled slightly, "That means that I have 16% of the company shares and Bai Jiawei has 15%, making me the largest shareholder -"
"What are you doing, He Xinyan?!" Bai Jiawei slammed one hand onto the table angrily and jumped up from his chair, "I will give you your rightful shares sooner or later! Why are you making such a fuss during the board of directors' meeting?!"
"Sooner or later?" He Xinyan scoffed, "How late will it be? After I die?"
Bai Jiawei narrowed his eyes, "He Xinyan, as your father, I demand you to stop now! This is naive and horrendous behavior! Do you think I will keep your shares from you?! I am your father! Stop creating trouble here! It isn't time for you to get your shares yet!"
He Xinyan threw her folder onto the table, creating a loud and sudden noise, and the room began quiet again. She pressed both of her hands onto the table and leaned forward.
"Isn't time? Dad, don't get mad. I definitely trust you! It is just that I want to get my shares now -"
"It isn't time! Didn't I tell you?! It says until I retire!" Bai Jiawei's eyes wavered, and He Xinyan clearly noticed him gulp.
"Be patient, dad. We can continue reading the will. Please look down to the bottom half of the will. It clearly says the shares will be under my dad until I reach the age of 23 years old or until Mr. Bai Jiawei is ready to retire. For those that don't know, I am 23 years old already."
Many of the shareholders gasped as they read the part of the will.
He Xinyan was very pleased with their reactions and she pulled out her phone, quickly sending a message.
"Now, I know that what I say might not be that trustworthy, since I am not a professional. So, I invited the leader of the lawyer group of the Gu Corporation, Lawyer Qu Fei."
Many of the people inside the room did recognize the name Qu Fei, since he was probably the most well-known lawyer in the country, and he worked for the Gu Corporation.
Bai Jiawei took a step back and he glared at He Xinyan, mouthing the words, "What are you doing?! Stop! Now!"
The door to the meeting room opened and Qu Fei stepped in, holding a briefcase.
"Mrs. Gu." He bowed slightly to He Xinyan before turning to the rest of the room.
"Good morning, everyone. I am Qu Fei, Miss He Xinyan's lawyer. Today, I am here to explain to you the legal issues about Miss He Yuxin's will."
Bai Jiawei wanted to stop Qu Fei, but he couldn't do anything.
"I believe that you all know about the distribution of Miss He Yuxin's shares by now, so I will now explain the terms about Miss He Xinyan's shares."
He Xinyan turned to look at the person controlling the computer and nodded her head.
The person clicked a few buttons on the computer, and a scanned picture of He Yuxin's will was projected onto the screen.
Qu Fei walked over and pointed towards the screen, "If you look here. . ."
