Chapter 48 - Mismatched
The night wind was gentle as the street lamps cast a soft light, pulling the shadows of passers-by into long phantoms.
Lin Qian was on Zheng PingQing’s back, his face buried in Zheng PingQing’s neck. As Lin Qian rubbed his face against the warm skin, he teased Zheng PingQing: “You’re already so old, yet you still bicker with high school students.”
Zheng PingQing lit up some firecrackers and threw them on the little brother that accidentally scared Lin Qian. Afterward, the little brother’s legs ended up becoming so soft he almost had to crawl home.
Zheng PingQing was unashamed. “He scared my boyfriend.”
Then, as if Zheng PingQing was trying to uphold justice for his boyfriend, he said: “My boyfriend is also a high school student. Furthermore, he’s very handsome and charmingly kind.”
Lin Qian used his forehead to tap the back of Zheng PingQing’s neck. “It wasn’t done intentionally, and your boyfriend is fine.”
Zheng PingQing passionately argued for his actions: “That’s why I only scared him. If he actually did anything to you, I would’ve tied him up and attach a thousand firecrackers on him...”
As Zheng PingQing’s ear suddenly got tickled, his heart burst with the same itchy feeling.
Soon, they arrived at Lin Qian’s neighborhood. Zheng PingQing looked around and saw that there wasn’t anyone nearby, so he grabbed Lin Qian’s hand and pulled him down from his back. Then, Zheng PingQing wrapped an arm around Lin Qian’s waist and brought him close. “Well, even if I couldn’t stick a thousand firecrackers, I can still stick other things on a certain someone...”
Zheng PingQing lowered his head and kissed Lin Qian on the lips.
Lin Qian bit him lightly but didn’t resist. His young body made him a little more impulsive. The kiss was long and deep, and it held the sweetness of autumn.
After their lips separated, Zheng PingQing carefully calculated the day. “There’s 143 days left...”
Lin Qian: “.....” In his heart, Lin Qian advised himself not to ask Zheng PingQing what he was talking about.
But Zheng PingQing answered his unasked question anyway. “The day we can do all sorts of lewd things is getting closer and closer. Ah, I can’t wait...”
“You two–”
The sudden voice startled Lin Qian and Zheng PingQing. They both turned around and saw a geeky-looking boy with his abnormally white skin and plaid shirt. The boy was looking at them blankly, and his mouth was hanging open.
Zheng PingQing raised a brow and removed his hold on Lin Qian’s waist.
Although they had been caught, Lin Qian didn’t panic much. He just smiled and calmly asked: “Boss Ke, how come you’re here?”
The stunned young boy in front of them was the future big Boss Ke MuZi.
Ke MuZi didn’t understand why Lin Qian called him Boss, but this nickname was very pleasing to the ear. In any other situation, Ke MuZi would’ve commented on the wonderful nickname, but right now, Ke MuZi was much more interested in something else. Ke MuZi tilted his head and slowly said: “I saw you two kissing.”
Lin Qian: “.......”
This straight guy’s words are awfully straight to the point, ah.
But, well, not all bent men were tactful with their words either. Zheng PingQing draped an arm over Lin Qian’s shoulders and said: “Yes, you saw it right. We’re a pair of handsome gays.”
Lin Qian: “.......”
Ke MuZi was slightly surprised by Zheng PingQing’s words, but he wasn’t frightened. Instead, he realized: “So that’s it! No wonder you two act so ambiguously.”
Lin Qian: “.......”
This computer otaku’s psychological quality was surprisingly good.
Truthfully, Ke MuZi’s response wasn’t that surprising. The emergence of micro-blogging was actually a sign of the times. With information becoming much more accessible, the next generation will gradually improve their ideological tolerance. In a few years, the acceptance of homosexuality would reach an unprecedented peak.
Later on, Ke MuZi would be famous in the industry for his open and advanced thinking. So it’s no surprise that he could easily accept the fact that Lin Qian and Zheng PingQing were a couple.
Seeing no adverse reaction from Ke MuZi, Zheng PingQing couldn’t help but say: “And there’s nothing ambiguous about us, this is love, true love.”
Ke MuZi: “&#k2026;.” He kind of regretted starting this conversation now.
Zheng PingQing, this person who didn’t understand the concept of &#k2018;quitting while ahead,’ continued: “Don’t we look like a well-matched couple?”
Ke MuZi slowly glanced at them both, then said: “You look alright.”
But Zheng PingQing wasn’t satisfied with Ke MuZi’s answer. “How is it just ‘alright’? Shouldn’t it be ‘very’?”
Ke MuZi seriously replied: “When I hacked into your school’s system, I saw your grades, you know. Your grades are too far from Lin Qian’s results. I think you’re a little unworthy of him.”
Zheng PingQing: “.....”
Lin Qian: “Hahahahahaha”
A Straight guy’s words are often the deadliest.
But Zheng PingQing would never admit defeat. He childishly activated his trump card: “I have a lot of money.”
Ke MuZi remained unmoved. His expression even had a trace of pity as he replied: “But...IQ can’t be bought with money.”
Lin Qian: “Hahahahahaha!”
Zheng PingQing had already lived two lifetimes, so he was well aware of his shortcomings and strengths. So, in the end, he sighed and put on a grateful expression. “That’s not important. Money can buy love, and that’s all that matters.”
Lin Qian: “.....”
Ke MuZi: “.....”
Ke MuZi couldn’t help but turn towards Lin Qian and advised him: “Student Lin, I believe that same-sex love isn’t a problem, but it’s still better to have the same three views as your partner.”
After some thought, Ke MuZi turned to Zheng PingQing and also advised him: “Student Zheng, I took all your high school test grades and made a graph for you to analyze. Although your performance during your sophomore year was weak, there was a relatively large growth when you reached your senior year. And this trend is still ongoing. According to my calculations, as long as you keep this up, I think you have a chance of reaching Lin Qian’s grades before the college entrance exams...”
“How can you be so idle in the middle of your senior year?” Zheng PingQing asked.
Ke MuZi scratched his head. “My school already confirmed that I received a guaranteed spot at the University I wanted, so I don’t have anything to do.”
Zheng PingQing made an exaggerated sound of surprise and whispered into Lin Qian’s ear: “He really is idle.”
Lin Qian pushed Zheng PingQing’s face away from him and turned to Ke MuZi with an apologetic expression. “I’m sorry, my boyfriend is stubborn and ambitious.”
Ke MuZi: “....” Why did it he feel like Lin Qian’s words didn’t sound like an actual rebuke at all!
With a smile, Lin Qian changed the topic: “So, how about you? What are you doing here?”
“When I broke into your school’s system, I wandered through your Vice-Principal’s computer...”
Although his tone sounded normal, Zheng PingQing couldn’t help but ask: “Whenever you hack into a school system, do you normally just poke around and peek at all of the data? You sound like you’re just casually strolling through.”
Ke MuZi pursed his lips. “I told you, I don’t have anything to do.”
Lin Qian stopped Zheng PingQing from replying and asked: “What did you find in Huo PingChuan’s computer?”
Ke MuZi tsked and said: “Not much, but it looked suspicious enough, so I hacked into his home computer...”
Lin Qian and Zheng PingQing: “.....” Ke MuZi’s tone sounded like he really did just casually stroll from the school system to Huo PingChuan’s home computer.
Ke MuZi rubbed his hands together and excitedly continued: “His home computer had a lot more interesting things....”
“There was a bunch of porn, many of which weren’t even password protected. Really unsightly!” Ke MuZi’s voice was full of contempt as he took out a USB stick from his pants pocket. “Unfortunately, my USB doesn’t have a large memory, or I would’ve copied more...”
Then Ke MuZi realized something and said: “But, ah the orientation is wrong. You guys probably aren’t interested, right? What a pity.”
Zheng PingQing replied: “It’s a pity that Huo PingChuan isn’t much of a man.”
Lin Qian couldn’t help but give Zheng PingQing a disbelieving look. “....don’t you feel embarrassed talking about Huo PingChuan like that?”
Feeling a sense of obligation, Ke MuZi offered: “If you want, I can hack into someone else’s computer and see if there’s anything that meets your needs...”
He didn’t forget to add: “I’m pretty idle these days anyway.”
Zheng PingQing replied: “No need, no need.” He was afraid that this big Boss might go overboard.
Ke MuZi handed the USB stick to Lin Qian and said: “These came from Huo PingChuan’s computer. I don’t really know what to do with it, so feel free to use it.”
Zheng PingQing looked at the Ke MuZi’s serious expression. He waved a hand and said: “Let’s go to my house and talk.”
......
Afterward, as he sent Ke MuZi off, Zheng PingQing sincerely said: “Boss Ke, my house doesn’t have a computer, so I hope you can forget about me during your idle days.”
Ke MuZi was suspicious. “I thought you were rich? How can you not have a computer?”
Zheng PingQing, with an expression full of righteousness, replied: “I’m just a simple and lowly rich second generation.”
Lin Qian was also a little afraid of Ke MuZi’s hacking skills. He was like a locust traveling from computer to computer. Lin Qian was afraid that they would accidentally lead this idle high school senior astray. After thinking for a bit, Lin Qian turned to Ke MuZi and said: “Boss Ke, since you’re so free, why don’t you try and develop a system yourself?”
As expected, the computer otaku’s eyes brightened. “Do you have any good ideas?”
Lin Qian smiled. “I don’t know if it’s a good idea, but if you’re interested, you can try.”
After a brief conversation, the idle Ke MuZi finally found something to do and happily left. In contrast, Zheng PingQing’s mood wasn’t so light and easy.
Lin Qian hugged Zheng PingQing’s waist and rubbed Zheng PingQing’s cheek with the tip of his nose. “What’s wrong? Did the talk of university matters provoke you?”
With a small nod, Zheng PingQing reluctantly admitted: “I don’t want people to think that you only like me for my money...”
Lin Qian: “....”
Lin Qian was stunned. “Where did all your confidence go?”
Zheng PingQing grunted and lightly bit the tip of Lin Qian’s nose. “I’ll give you another chance. Try and comfort me again.”
Lin Qian readily acquiesced: “I naturally fell for your incredibly handsome looks, ah!”
Zheng PingQing lowered his head and took the opportunity to nip at Lin Qian’s lips. “I’m handsome and rich. Ke MuZi is too picky ah, how are we not the perfect fit.”
Lin Qian smiled as he kissed Zheng PingQing back, lifting a hand to grasp at his hair. In the end, the two only stopped when their breathing turned heavy, and Zheng PingQing’s hair became a mess.
Zheng PingQing’s blood was boiling, and he couldn’t restrain himself. He started nipping at the juncture between Lin Qian’s neck and shoulder. “We...”
Lin Qian then ruined the atmosphere when he stated: “I talked with the Principal and told him that I wanted to give up my guaranteed spot.”
Zheng PingQing instantly cooled off, and his actions stopped. After a long while, he finally found his voice. “Why?”
Lin Qian didn’t let go of Zheng PingQing and was still stroking Zheng PingQing’s back as he replied: “I want to go to the same university as you.”
F University was notoriously tricky to get into. If Lin Qian accepted the guaranteed spot, it would be almost impossible for Zheng PingQing to get in.
After another long silence, Zheng PingQing said: “I can get into F University.”
“Alright.” Lin Qian didn’t refute Zheng PingQing’s words. “If you can pass the exam, then I can too. I don’t need the school recommendation.”
Lin Qian’s eyes narrowed into crescents. “Let’s take the exam together.”
Zheng PingQing tightened his hands and pressed Lin Qian closer to him. “I’ll work hard.”
“Un.”
“I’ll definitely get admitted to F University.”
“Un.”
“And if we really can’t pass the exam, I’ll let my father donate a building to F University and buy us a spot.”
Lin Qian: “....”
Even after an entire lifetime, Zheng PingQing can still say such annoying and childish words sometimes.
Zheng PingQing’s relationship with his father was actually pretty bad in their last life. Although Zheng PingQing had been famous for being a rich second generation, he had actually struggled all on his own to get where he was.
But now, when he reverted back into his young self, Zheng PingQing was calculating things like an old geezer.
And he didn’t have an ounce of shame. “Now that I’m at this age, isn’t it more reasonable and fair if I depend on a parent’s power?”
Lin Qian began to seriously ponder: “I wonder if I can still tell the Principal to forget what I said before.”
Ke MuZi: I’m pretty sure Zheng PingQing’s house has a computer
