Chapter 111 - Eyes On Us: Part-2
Billy continued "After Trell would probably be Udonis. He has a big frame that looks like it' still growing and his athleticism isn't too bad.
He has a nice mid range jumper that shows the potential of stretching out to the three point line and his touch around the rim is advanced for his age.
He also has a wide variety of post moves that he can go to when he needs to score a bucket. He has some vision and he can make some nice passes on occasion but he seem's more suited to being a secondary play maker rather than being the focal point."
Troy spent a few seconds thinking about what Billy had just said "What about their Center? I think his name was Kyle?
I heard that he only started playing basketball at the same time as Jason. If you think about how well he's been playing it's just as incredible as Jason's story.
I feel like the only reason that he doesn't get more attention is because instead of having the system be based around him the way that it is for Jason he plays his role in the system instead.
You were saying just a few minutes ago how some school's were interested in Trell just because of his physical gifts.
But in my opinion Kyle is just as gifted physically. I don't have his exact measurements unlike Jason but just from a casual glance you can tell that Kyle has an elite wingspan.
He also has good hands. You hardly see him struggling to catch passes. His bounce is crazy for his age just like Trell.
And the kid is 6'1 in his second year of middle school. He might hit 6'3 by the time he gets into the eight grade.
And he runs the floor like a gazelle. Most kids his size look uncoordinated when they're on the floor or are just straight up slow.
But this kid moves like a guard. There is a reason why teams scramble to put a defender on him as soon as tip off is done. He is a real threat every time he rim runs."
Bill was listening to Troy but his attention was still focused on Jason and the game. He watched on as Jason gave his team time to set up.
Jason called for a few different plays but their opponent was doing a good job of denying any open looks.
After seeing that his team was struggling to get into a position to score Jason took matters into his own hands.
He waved off the screen from Udonis and signaled for everyone to clear up the floor. After getting everything set up for an isolation play Jason went to work.
He crossed over a few times before bringing the ball up high for a big crossover that tempted his opponent into reaching for the ball.
As soon as he saw his defender fall for his trap Jason crossed the ball over to his left and started driving toward the paint.
The crowd started making some noise after seeing Jason pass by his defender with the nice move.
His defender recovered pretty quickly as he turned around and went into a full out sprint in order to catch up with him.
The opposing team's Center knew that Kyle wasn't a threat from outside the paint so he left him alone in the corner in order to sit back and protect the paint.
Jason was now in a tough situation. There was a defender in position to protect the paint and he had his own defender making his way toward him.
Jason pressed on the breaks as he pulled up for the mid range shot. The momentum forced Jason to spend a little bit of effort in fixing his shooting form but he was able to get the shot off fine.
The ball bounced on the rim a few times before finally sinking through the net. The home section was going wild as they cheered him on.
Jefferson was now leading with a commanding score of 10-2
Billy shook his head in amazement after seeing Jason's incredible play. After a while he remembered that Troy had just asked him a question.
"I won't lie Kyle is an interesting prospect. He does have some amazing god given talent just like Trell.
But there's a difference between Trell and Kyle. First off is that Trell is projected to be either a Shooting Guard or a Small Forward based on if he can polish up his skills.
However even if he doesn't develop into an player with elite skills as long as his body continues to develop at the pace that he has been then he could become a deadly Power Forward at the college level.
He's shown in some of Jefferson's games that he's capable of playing the Power Forward spot with his sheer athleticism and his crazy body that allows him to deal with the physicality in the paint.
But Kyle is a lot more limited. Even though Trell's handles and jump shot are relatively raw at least they are there.
You can tell that Kyle doesn't feel comfortable moving around the court when the ball is in his hands.
Kyle's only foreseeable positions are Center or maybe Power Forward depending on how versatile your Center is.
And to be honest it is hard to see Kyle developing into a power house Center. He has looked great in the short span of his career so far.
But I feel like that has more to do with how well Jefferson has been able to utilize him as one of Jason's weapons out on the court.
You said that he has good hands but we don't even know if that is an accurate statement. The large majority of the passes that he catches are from Jason who is a savant in regards to his play making.
He has never thrown a pass that even looked like it was out of control. So we don't really know if he's got good hands or if he's just lucky to be playing with a dominant Point Guard like Jason.
And although he does have some nice bounce and his wingspan is as elite as they come he has the same problem as Jason.
He's way too underweight for a Center. He's able to cover that up for now because he's so much taller than the majority of his competition.
But as soon as he hits the next level in high school kids like him are going to be easier to come by.
His bounce and speed on the court won't mean anything if he's constantly getting abused down in the block.
His thin build just doesn't have the strength to really bang down low against actual physical Centers.
He was getting bullied by Trinity Diaz the whole game. Luckily the rest of Jefferson was able to put in a collective effort in stopping him.
Trell has a much better body for basketball right now. And with how Kyle's frame is he doesn't project to be the kind of player that can easily put on weight unlike Trell.
Trell has nice broad shoulders and his muscle development is already a couple of years ahead of his age group."
Troy was nodding his head as he secretly smiled inside his mind 'This dumbass is really giving me all this info.
He probably has no idea that all this small talk is being recorded by my phone that's in my pocket right now. How can you have so much gray in your hair and still be so gullible haha.'

Jason was in the locker room as the guys were dumping water on each other in celebration of their big win.
Trell wasn't able to play but he sat on the bench in his street clothes as he cheered on his teammates.
Without Trell their already short rotation became even shorter which forced Jason to play the most minutes that he has had to play yet.
But even without much time to rest and recover on the bench Jason was able to dominate the game.
He broke the record as he scored the most points yet during this years tournament by dropping fifty points.
Jason was smiling as his teammates handed him a white piece of paper that had the number 50 written in the center.
They all took pictures of him holding up the paper. They were all excited to post the pictures online.
Although Jason wasn't too big of a fan of social media this moment felt like a special one that deserved to be shared.
So he asked Udonis to send one of the pictures to him so that he could post it on his account. Under the picture he put the caption 'Hard work and good guidance. I feel blessed.'
After he was done posting the picture he saw that a lot of his online followers were tagging him on a different post.
Jason tapped on it and saw that it was a video clip from his least favorite news station featuring his least favorite news anchor.
'Jesus lady. Can't you keep our names out of your mouth for at least a couple days?'
