Refining the Mountains and Rivers

Chapter 1684 – You Deserve it

Chapter 1684 – You Deserve it

Chapter 1684 – You Deserve it

There were many things in the world that could not be explained. Like the couple from the store selling fried rice cakes on the Sky Sea Sect’s ferry who entrusted their baby to Rourou.

Their son had been weak since birth and they spent all their savings trying to find a physician for him. They finally made it to Langya Area and found an incredible doctor who managed to cure their son.

The family of three were in high spirits as they boarded the ferry back, not having to wander around anymore.

Who would have imagined that this would be their ending. The couple would never have imagined that while pregnant with their son, someone had done something to cause the child to be ill.

And the process that they thought saved their child, was actually their child slowly turning into a ghost baby. Yet, he seemed perfect and had a bit of the aura a baby should have, all for the situation today.

From the start till the end, the couple was completely oblivious to it all, like chess pieces being played with by someone.

It was extremely disheartening, yet the only comforting thing was that before the baby was revealed to be a ghost baby, the couple had already died. They did not have to face this cruel reality.

But it really happened. Even if they died, it would not erase things.

This was the sorrow of the weak.

……

Rourou stepped out from amidst the fog. Where she stood, the fog backed away from her.

Across from her, the eye turned and landed on her.

There was surprise in the eye. It did not think that there would be someone who hid through all these.

Looking at Rourou, it was silent for a while before the fog shifted and a trembling voice could be heard, “Your Honor, must you stop me?”

Rourou yawned. She looked calm but was rude, “What else would I do? Did you think I came here to talk to you?”

The fog continued to vibrate, “I just hope that you can reconsider. I just want that junior from the Opening Heavens Sword Sect. Everyone else can go.”

Rourou frowned and looked impatient, “You talk a lot of nonsense. Out of everyone on the ferry, I only care about him.”

“It seems like this cannot be negotiated.” The eye in the fog stared at Rourou. “Then let me see if I can keep you behind as well.”

Rourou sneered, “Forgive me for being blunt, but you are going to die today!”

Boom –

Above Breaking Heaven Mountain, the sea of fog that stretched on for thousands of kilometers was suddenly filled with murderous aura. However, all of this was hidden within the fog and no one from the outside saw anything.

Only the very sensitive demons and humans would be able sense the invisible suppressive force from the sea of fog above them.

……

The man in black was very strong.

He was strong in all aspects. He was the first Three Peak Realm Ruler Qin Yu saw who was powerful in the ‘human’ realm.

He had already touched the Celestial Threshold and was just missing that one step to cross it. More astonishingly, Qin Yu could sense that the man in the black robe was not stuck at the Celestial Threshold.

In fact, according to what Qin Yu was sensing, the man in black had more power. If he wanted, he could cross the Celestial Threshold at any time, becoming one of the King realm cultivators and letting his cultivation peak.

He clearly had the power to break through, yet he was forcefully suppressing his cultivation in order to remain as a peak Ruler. Either he had some unspeakable difficulty or he had a greater plan.

The benefits of accumulation existed in any realm. Qin Yu recalled Rourou mentioning that before he crossed the Celestial Gate, he should accumulate a greater foundation and then maybe he would be able to become a True King in one shot.

Qin Yu never dared to think too much about this as the distance was too far. He never thought that he would meet someone on the same path as him who was more advanced.

Instinct told Qin Yu that this man in black was someone who was very ambitious and extremely confident.

This confidence was not only shown in the fact that he chose to accumulate his powers but it was also present in the way he killed. No matter how intense the fight was or how dangerous it was, the man in black maintained a calm and composed look. As if everything was within his control.

Qin Yu knew that this kind of enemy was very difficult to deal with.

Qin Yu’s guess was right. As he fought with the man, they were initially evenly matched, but he slowly started to lose out as he was slowly suppressed from all angles.

His opponent gained the upper hand and behaved in an even more relaxed fashion. He did not rush as he controlled the rhythm of the attacks. It seemed like he was not in a rush to kill Qin Yu but wanted to slowly force him into a perilous situation.

This made one feel extremely helpless, they knew what was going on but had no power to stop it. It was the fastest way to drain one’s opponent’s mental strength. Usually, there was no need to wait until the last moment to find that perfect chance to strike a fatal blow.

But this time, it was different. The man in black frowned slightly. He had clearly gotten the upper hand, yet Qin Yu was still maintaining his own rhythm and did not seem to be panicking.

Moreover, he saw how calm Qin Yu was even though he was clearly disadvantaged. This was extremely rare and made the man in black feel uneasy.

This was really very rare to the man in black, especially after he reached the Three Peak Realm and could cross the Celestial Gate at any time.

He squashed his thoughts down and his eyes lit up; the trace of emotions in him disappeared.

It was good that Qin Yu was powerful. After he killed Qin Yu today, he would be able to accumulate more and even use his head as a stone to help him step up and see a better scenery.

The man in black did not become anxious as he maintained a steady rhythm. He looked calm.

Whether Qin Yu had another trick up his sleeve or was hiding his potential, he would not be greedy for progress. Then, maybe his opponent would not be able to find any opportunity.

As time passed, he would be able to force Qin Yu into a desperate situation. When that happened, he would just make the first move…he would gain an advantage.

Moreover, the man in black did not think that Qin Yu could last until the point where he could take a chance. Like cooking a frog in warm water, danger was ‘silent’. Nothing seemed to be wrong at the current moment, but a disaster could happen in the next.

The man in black had a lot of experience with this!

Qin Yu was not confident that he could kill him unless the man was as stupid as Charm Demon and would leave his body and attempt to enter Qin Yu’s soul space.

If not, he really had no chance.

He was so strong that he had no gaps or weaknesses.

Qin Yu had intentionally exposed a few opportunities but the man did not fall for it. He continued to maintain his own rhythm.

Of course, the man took the opportunity to suppress Qin Yu and put him in a more unfavorable position.

If this continued, Qin Yu would be defeated, and he was sure of it.

But he also knew that he would not die.

Therefore, Qin Yu approved of how the man in black was taking his time to fight slowly and push him into a desperate situation.

The first reason was of course because Qin Yu wouldn't die.

Secondly, it was to buy time.

He was going to buy time until Rourou could get rid of the ancient person in the fog. When she returned, so what if the man in black was powerful? He was ultimately not at the King realm. To Rourou, anyone of the Ruler realm was a piece of cake.

That’s right, Rourou was just that domineering!

……

In the fog, Rourou stepped forwards. The eye in the fog had disappeared and was nowhere to be found. Or rather, it had been destroyed.

“Aren’t you coming out? You are so old, you ought to have some pride.

“Death sounds scary but actually it is just closing your eyes.

“Don’t worry, I move very fast and can ensure that you will not feel any pain. It will be over in the blink of an eye.”

Rourou went on and on. If Qin Yu was here, he would know what she was trying to do.

If not, with her character, she would not be speaking so much.

The fog was silent and it was even denser than before. It was now as dark as midnight and it made it hard to see even one’s own fingers.

Rourou took another few steps forwards and smiled, “You fell for it.” She took a step and the sea of fog suddenly shook violently and began to boil. An invisible pressure descended all around.

Every step that Rourou had taken before this was part of the restriction that formed around him.

Amidst the violently shaking fog, a vague figure appeared. The eyes of this ancient person were bulging and he looked furious, “Impossible!”

He had completely immersed himself into the fog and spread out all over. He had no substance or shape and everything was controlled by his mind.

It was because of this that no matter how much the Great Qin Empire tried to find him, they were never able to locate his true body. It was hence acknowledged that Breaking Heavens Mountain would be ruled by the Demon Clan.

But today, all it took was for her to walk one round in the fog and he fell into her trap without knowing.

The shock he was feeling was immense.

Rourou smiled softly, “There are many unbelievable things in this world. You are still young. How many have you seen?”

She took a step forward and looked down at him with cold and superior eyes. It was as if she was looking down at an ant from heaven, “The previous dynasty has ended; the dynasty that belonged to you all is no longer around. Disappear as per the heavens’ fate. This is your best option.

“Struggling ignorantly will only deplete the last bit of luck that you all have and cut off any hopes of you all making it back.”

Amidst the fog, the ancient person’s eyes widened as horror and shock appeared in them.

“You…you are…”

The horror he was feeling caused him to momentarily lose his mind. It eventually killed him completely.

The restriction around the ancient person moved into his body and suppressed him completely, preventing him from having any chance to return.

Rourou’s figure appeared in front of him for an instant and there was a mocking look on her face, “I am not. You have been tricked.”

The ancient person’s eyes widened, but before he could say anything, Rourou touched his forehead. The light in his eyes died out. As his eyes dimmed, Rourou also massaged her forehead as exhaustion filled her face.

As a Ruler, it would be impossible for her to kill the ancient person. Even though Rourou had made the first move and plotted against him, causing the ancient person to become fearful and eventually leading to the end of his own life.

But that last touch as well as the restriction earlier had really drained her. More importantly, she could not replenish it.

Looking at the ancient person who was dissipating with the fog, Rourou appeared impatient. It was a real pity.

If she could eat him, she would not have made a loss and might even have gained.

However, this ancient person was already demented. If it were the past, Rourou would not have been afraid. A person with her longevity would not care what was eaten. But now, she could not. If she ate something polluted and destroyed her source, she would lose out.

Sighing, Rourou could not help but massage her brows. She waited for a while before her complexion returned to normal. She then turned to look down.

Her mouth twitched and she could not help but curse. Qin Yu that bastard, he was simply too sneaky.

His opponent was also a fool. He had actually been scared by Qin Yu and was choosing to take the slow but steady way.

Though this choice was safe and was not wrong, the important thing was that it was not the right path. Of course, it could be because the man in black believed that the ancient person was extremely powerful and would not lose.

Tsk tsk. Is this brat looking down on me? Serves you right!

Woosh –

Rourou moved and the sea of fog was like a river with a hole in it. It started pouring down. The man in black that had been fighting Qin Yu and waiting for his opportunity suddenly had a change in expression. His heart shrunk.

He looked up abruptly and saw the sea of fog pouring down magnificently.

Fear and despair immediately flooded him, causing him to tremble.

The ancient person had been defeated and may have even been killed. If not, the sea of fog could not be controlled by anyone else.

The man in black no longer hesitated as he attacked Qin Yu with the intention of killing him.

It was not because he was full of hatred and wanted Qin Yu to die with him. It was simply him trying to affect Rourou by attacking her counterpart. If the person in the sea of fog turned to save Qin Yu, he would have a chance to escape.

Even if he could only gain a few seconds, it would be extremely precious in this life-threatening situation.

However, what caused the man in black to despair was that the fog did not hesitate to surge towards him.

“Then let’s die together!”

He growled angrily.

Across from him, Qin Yu looked at him admiringly; he now had even more recognition and respect for the cultivators from the Central Desolate.

They had many patterns and were all extremely powerful. They were difficult to guard against.

It was a pity that Qin Yu was not lying earlier when he said that he was sure he would not die.

Buzz –

There was a buzzing sound as a transparent bubble surrounded Qin Yu. Then, two wings extended from the surface of the bubble.

Woosh –

The wings flapped and Qin Yu disappeared. He escaped from the deathly attack that the man in black had set up.

In the next moment, the sea of fog swallowed the man in black!
