Chapter 117 - Fire And Ice Part1
Qin Hua walked out of the huge 3 star hotel which was previously remarkable in aesthetics and structure but now looked like a pile of tattered bricks and burned down garbage.
Lu Chen was right behind her and the two of them went over to Alex who was sitting in the middle of the road, gritting her teeth.
Her face was bright red in color, along with the rest of her body. She seemed to be in a lot of pain and her brows were knitted together.
It was clear that she was trying very hard to control her new ability. However, it didn't look like she was going to be successful in doing that anytime soon.
Wisps of fire swirled around her every now and then, and they lingered around her like floating flame balls.
So strong! Qin Hua licked her lips. Were all the abilities gained from demonic mana cores this strong?
Alex opened her eyes as soon as she sensed their presence close to them and then hurriedly scrambled to stand up. "Ah! Ah! I am so sorry. Are you okay, little white?"
[Woof?] Qin Hua cocked her head, wondering what she was talking about. [Oh about the fire?] She shook her head side to side, asking her not to worry about it.
After all, she had done so much more damage.
Besides, it was already time for them to leave this place anyway. So she couldn't care less about the condition of the hotel.
As if speaking what was on her mind, Lu Chen quickly said the same thing. "Everything is fine now. Why don't you head inside and quickly pack up whatever you need? We are leaving."
"We can't stay in the same place for more than a couple of hours. We need to keep moving. Otherwise, another herd of birds or insects might come our way."
"Umm. Yes alright." Alex nodded and quickly ran inside. She made sure to maintain her distance from the others so as to not injure them accidentally.
Everything inside was technically already ruined so there wasn't any packing to do. So Alex simply ended up checking on Xu Meilin and Xiao Meng.
Xu Meilin had the tabby cat in her arms and was helping some people and Xiao Ming was putting bandages on someone else's injury.
All of them were still very injured and extremely tired, not to mention have been stung by poisonous insects. So they were very feeble and moving extremely slow.
"Ming. Ming. Do you need anything?" Alex asked. The woman looked at her and silently nodded.
Alex was about to turn around and ask someone else if they needed help when she heard Xiao Ming's voice from behind her again. "Sister, did you get the ability from absorbing that violet mana core?"
Ah. She realized suddenly that though they had both found the mana core together, at the time she had taken it for herself without really caring about Xiao Ming's wishes.
"Sorry, Ming Ming. I was not thinking." She felt apologetic and started to explain, but the woman quickly stopped her.
"Sister, it's alright. You saved us all. Umm… along with little white. I am only grateful." Xiao Ming explained instead. "I was just… I was wondering if next time, you can help me become stronger too."
"Yes. Yes. Definitely." Alex smiled at her embarrassed expression. She was clearly hurt, but she was already thinking about the next step.
Alex couldn't help but admire her willpower. "I will also tell little white about your wish. I bet little white can find a violet core faster than us."
"Ah Ah. Thank you so much. Thank you so much." Xiao Ming was so touched by her offer that she started bumping her head on the burnt soot covered ground and kowtowing repeatedly.
"Hey hey! Watch it! You are still poisoned and weak. Don't overdo it." Alex smiled and helped her get off the ground.
Just like the others, Xiao Ming was also very weak and couldn't even stand up straight without her help.
Alex frowned and remained silent for a moment. "On second thought. Sorry, why don't you wait here for a minute? I need to talk to Lu Chen about something."
Alex quickly ran out, wondering how Lu Chen had overlooked such an obvious issue.
Outside the burned down building, Lu Chen was standing next to Qin Hua and the two of them were talking about something or rather one talking and the other barking.
The mystery with their communication was not something Alex wanted to think about right now.
"Hey, Lu Chen! All these people are poisoned. They are severely injured and Coco is already tired from healing little white. How are we going to get out of here?"
She quickly blurted her words out with worry, but unexpectedly Lu Chen didn't seem to share her concerns. In fact, he just shrugged in response.
"Shouldn't we wait or something?" Alex noticed that something was not quite right.
"Why? It's not my job to make everyone's life as comfortable as possible. Why should we care about that?" And just as she thought, Lu Chen's answer was not pleasant to hear. He curtly responded without worrying about anything.
His voice as well was loud enough for everyone to hear. He didn't even bother to try and hide the fact that he was angry.
"I am not providing a hospitality service here. We will be moving to another nearby location now. It's not too far. So everyone should be able to manage it and if not they can go their own way."
"Are you being serious right now?" Alex was utterly shocked. She knew that Lu Chen was a very kind person but for him to talk this way…
She couldn't say anything else to him after that and decided to see how everyone's condition was inside and went back in.
After she left, Qin Hua who was silent all this while, cocked her head to the side and looked at Lu Chen questioningly. [Woof?]
Lu Chen felt her gaze on him and turned his face to the other side. "I don't want to ever lose you." He silently muttered under his breath.
