Chapter 1521: Liquid Spark

?

There were two things Ning wanted to test with his powers.

First, he wanted to turn things into wood. And then he wanted to turn things into glass.

The second of that was rather easy Ning figured out. Turning something into a stone was so simple that Ning could easily use the energy from the Spark to do so.

The items of glass he made were very transparent and expensive. If Ning decided to go into the glass business, he could easily make a fortune.

Testing these out, Ning also realized that his body had a very high Spark aptitude. Perhaps, he had the best body out there that could exist for Spark.

After Glass, Ning tested turning things into wood, but he struggled a little for that. While he was indeed capable of turning things into wood, he found that he had little say over what sort of wood he wanted it to be.

The wood he did end up with was some sort of wood from an Oak tree that he had come into contact with many times. Ning tried turning things into other types of wood, but every time, he failed to do so and it would become a mixture of what he wanted and Oakwood.

If he wanted some other type of wood, he needed to learn a bit more about other woods.

In the end, he considered his test for wood a failure.

Ning went to sleep that night with half a vial full of Spark and woke up the next morning to the alarm once again.

He went over to his training and then to have his breakfast. Then he returned to his room to see what it was that the military wanted him to do for the day.

In the place where his duty for the day would be listed, there was a simple address written down on it.

'12F, Door 16?' Ning thought. It wasn't so far away.

Below the address, it simply wrote that he had to be there by 9 am sharp.

Ning looked at the time and was surprised to find out that he had no more than 10 minutes left. So, he quickly left his room and made for the address.

On the 12th floor, Ning found the door marked 16. It was a simple room, maybe a little larger than average, with not much indication of what the room was exactly.

Ning even wondered if he was in the right place at first. However, after remembering that he did not want to be late, he walked in through the door and arrived at a rather stuffy room with no good ventilation.

There were chairs scattered throughout the windowless room, the walls completely left barren without ever bothering to smooth it out at all.

Ning looked around and saw someone else in the room. It was another Cadet that he didn't recognize; a female cadet.

Now that he thought about it, he hadn't seen a female Cadet ever since coming here.

'Did they separate us by gender?' Ning wondered. That wouldn't be so wrong.

The girl turned around, her big blue eyes staring at him. Her face looked slightly chubby, but there was no fat around her body. She was a fit girl, quite short but not too much. Her hair was dirty blonde, with some strands yellow and some black.

The girl was about to salute as Ning walked in when she saw his rank and stopped.

"You're a Cadet?" she asked.

"I am," Ning answered. "My name is Ning. May I ask who you are?"

"Parima," the girl answered. "Were you called here for the training as well?"

"Training?" Ning asked. "I came to be registered as a Converter. Maybe there is some training involved. I wouldn't know."

"Oh, right. I'm getting registered as well. Well, registration should be a foregone conclusion. This is just training," the girl answered. "Converter huh? I hear it's a difficult power. Mine's quite simple."

"Oh? What's that?" Ning asked.

The girl was about to answer when she stopped and pulled out something from her pocket; a vial of... shiny liquid. Ning realized it was just Spark mixed in with some sort of viscous liquid; a syrup of some sort. It was certainly not water.

It was still a runny liquid she easily poured some for herself and took a swig from it. She then closed her eyes for a moment and opened it once more.

"I'm a Connector!" the girl answered. Only, her words weren't coming out of her mind, but instead directly from her thoughts.

It was no different than a cultivator using their Divine Sense to speak to another cultivator.

"What is a Divine Sense?" the girl's voice asked.

Ning freaked out a little. "You can hear my thoughts?" he asked.

The girl nodded. "Sorry. If you don't contain it while I'm connected to you, some words slip out from time to time, mostly depending on how powerful that thought of yours is."

"I'll... keep that in mind," Ning said. "Can you leave my mind please?"

"Oh, sorry," the girl said and stopped the connection.

Ning felt a small sense of lacking in his mind, which told him that the girl had indeed left his thoughts.

"Thank you," he said. "What is that, if you don't mind me asking."

The girl looked confused as she turned to look at her hand. "This? Spark, of course," she said.

"Yes, but what is the solution? Why is Spark in a liquid?" Ning asked.

"You're not seriously asking me this," the girl said, stunned that man of Ning's age would ask her a question that simple.

"I am being serious," Ning said.

"It's... it's to slow down how fast my body absorbs the Spark," she said. "It helps me prolong my usage of spark and makes it so that it isn't immediately digested. Not to mention, taking in dry Spark is not very fun."

"I see," Ning said. He hadn't imagined that one could do such a thing. "Thanks for explaining that to me."
