Chapter 5: Sixty Five Percent!

Chapter 5: Sixty Five Percent!

What the hell does green mean? I kind of forgot this from the manga. Since the manga was black and white.

"Oh, that's a nice shine. I would say you're at 63%, maybe even 65%. Your affinity is around the higher C Tier. As expected from someone who was bred to be an exorcist," the latter sounded like an insult.

This chain bastard teacher really knew how to get under everyone's nerves.

"Though I'm not sure how the Dark Sword Clan will deal with a Beast Master. They would usually prefer Warriors or Creators." He smirked as if he was watching a drama unfold and waiting for the climax.

I didn't respond to his provocation and just nodded. Unlike most here, I knew this wasn't the teacher's usual behavior. He was just trying to teach us some important lessons.

Creator would have been a more suitable affinity for me. But Beast Master wasn't the worst option out there, and I had some roads to explore with this affinity. I just had to come up with a clear plan, and try to survive.

The weakness in the initial stages of Beast Master was that they needed another being to rely on. At the same time, that weakness was a strength, as hypothetically there was nothing saying that a beast master couldn't just have a demon stronger than him under his command.

Of course, the stronger something is, the more resistance there will be from the other side. Also, I wasn't of the mind of going the human master route, because that was essentially useless in most cases and getting on the bad side of the Exorcists wasn't a good idea.

I went and sat by the sidelines once more. Thinking about my future path.

Essentially I was at a crossroads. I could either tame a relatively strong demon for this stage and save myself during the soon-to-come massacre. Or take a weak familiar, and evolve it.

The latter had more potential and would become something useful. If I got a middle-class demon as my beast, I doubt I had enough Ord on me to force evolution on it. Also, evolution is something done easier and with less energy requirement if the creature is evolved from a low stage. It will also allow the familiar to get used to my Ord Energy.

The tamed beast not really being my power was a problem that would get solved in the later stages of the affinity.

After a couple of people, Bets was the next to go and his big body staggered toward the professor. Having a body like that and doing cardio for a long time wasnt the best idea around. After biting Bets, the mosquito shined yellow.

A Creator? The teacher looked confused. Then he stared at Bets muscular body. Well, I guess never judge a book by its cover. You would have made an amazing Warrior though, a natural-born genius. Still, you have a talent for Creator at 70%, which is barely B Tier talent. Which is also quite good.

Thanks, my friend nodded and walked back, to sit on the grass next to me. I couldn't help but wonder what could possibly be going through his mind. Despite looking like a brute, most people only saw the muscles and forgot there was a person behind those muscles.

The silver-haired girl came next, she had a confident smile on her face and there was no nervousness in her eyes.

Has she done this test before? She was from one of the four big clans. So her having been tested before coming here wasnt anything strange about it.

When the mosquito bit her, it shone a blue so bright that we had to cover our eyes.

Anika, from the Raion Clan. Not bad. Youre a Blaster, with a talent of 88%. Youre well into A Tier talent. If you dont grow arrogant and die. You will likely become one of the future pillars of the countrys exorcists, the teacher smirked as if he knew something none of us did.

Did he know about the secret of the Raion Clan? Because while Anika might be a talented person, more so than any of the Raion Clan in the last couple of centuries. The clans power doesn't come from its exorcists.

Still, I couldn't help but feel a bit jealous of her. Anything above 80% was considered a genius that would show up once a decade.

Anika walked back with confidence and a smile on her face. No doubt she thought she would be the best of this generation.

Agon, the teacher called out. And the main character walked up with an excited look on his face and excitement. He glanced at a pale man with long dark hair and smirked confidently.

The thing you said about a commoner never becoming a Sage! I will crush those notions, and become the strongest exorcist! He clenched his fist and walked forward. As soon as the mosquito bit him, a barely visible light shined..

Someone amongst the students chuckled. What's that? I can barely see it.

The teacher didnt say anything at first. But after a couple of seconds, he muttered. Warrior, 30%. D Tier talent

Despair filled Agons eyes, and then students started chuckling amongst each other. The teacher gave them a death stare, which stopped them all. But it was already too late as Agon looked like someone had sucked all the life out of him.

The thin classmate he had made the declaration to become a Sage too, chuckled. Ah yes, this is the future sage, everyone. The future strongest exorcist. We shouldnt laugh at our future leader.

The words were dripping with ridicule. Agon flushed with embarrassment and ran away. Leaving behind a trail of tears.

Hey! Where do you think youre going?! The teacher called out. But Agon didnt stop and kept running away.

Professor Chain sighed, shook his head, and called the next name. Sei!

A thin feminine guy, with deathly pale skin, and long dark hair came up. He let the mosquito bite his palm.

A miniature sun appeared. Ahh! some people screamed in pain as their retinas were taken by surprise at the sudden brightness. By the time the light died out, the mosquito which had bitten him was now just a puddle of blood in the teachers hand.

Even the creature supposed to test attributes couldnt handle that.

Someone with talent in any affinity over 90% appears once in a hundred years. Even then, the chance of them dying young was quite high.

The silver-haired girl was left with her mouth hanging. She would have been right to be proud in any other generation. But this was the generation where the main character exists, everyone who survives will be a monster.

Sei was the guy who would be able to keep up with the main character. Though the teacher seemed confused. He probably doesnt even know how to grade that kind of talent. I knew that Sei had a talent that appears maybe once in a thousand years.

While people with talent over 80% were considered geniuses once a generation. Those with over 90% were monsters. Sei had a talent of 98%... he was a monster amongst monsters. The rival to the main character.

Oh well, no use being jealous of that talent. Or just how monstrous this whole generation will be. Because they didn't have a choice, either be monstrous or die.

The rest of the students got their potential checked, and while there were some others who had good potential. None of them went over 90%.

Well, I shouldnt worry about talented people. Instead, I should worry more about myself. As a Beast Master, an idea already started forming in my mind for an exorcist ability.
