Rest in a Demon's Embrace [BL]

Chapter 193 - A Useless Prince

Chapter 193 - A Useless Prince

As the sunlight broke through the horizon, the citizens of Cloudsoar City began to stir and get ready for another busy day like all others.

The atmosphere was cheerful and the common people were all excited after the rumors that had spread everywhere after the previous auction, and everyone was very willing to share their own theories.

Some were making up stories about the ones behind the auction, and where they had gotten all these treasures, while others were discussing the ones who had won the bids and their plans with the treasures they had gotten.

Many would be stubbornly set on their own theory, and would completely ignore any other words, which resulted in many grown adults arguing on the streets in happiness.

Although Cloudsoar City was the most prosperous city on the entire continent, it was also a place where everyone had to be careful when acting. On normal days, such a huge auction would never happen, as it completely interfered with the delicate balance of power within the city and even the entire continent.

Such an explosive topic would be discussed by all, but while the common citizens were all discussing it with excitement and amusement, the ones with more power were not so thrilled.

Many undercurrents were surging in the city, and everyone tried to grasp important information about one another.

Some wished to get reliable news of the ones behind this auction, while others wanted to know which cultivators planned on recreating the treasures they purchased, and who planned on using them as they were.

Everyone were considering their own benefits, but while the majority of the factions were eager for these rare and extinct treasures, some noticed that the Demon Palace had made a move.

It was uncertain what was happening, but experts began to leave the palace one after another, and a few returned covered in blood. However, from the way they moved, it was clear that the blood they were covered in did not belong to themselves, but rather someone else.

These actions were, in no way, subtle, and many began wondering what could be the cause of this sudden aggression from the palace, but no matter how much they tried to dig out any information, they all were completely clueless.

"You said you don't know?!" Jiang Luo threw the inkstone in his hand to the ground and it shattered into countless pieces. It was a special treasure that he had been gifted by his late mother, and he would usually treat it with great care and affection, but now it was destroyed in a fit of anger.

The sadness and pain he felt after destroying this treasure with sentimental value was added to the anger he felt when hearing that even his people could not figure out the actions of the palace, and he was close to bursting in fury.

"Are we lacking any men or bases throughout the continent? Contact anyone who is available and see what they have to say!"

Jiang Luo had a strange sense of fear and could not calm down, as he kept expecting that these soldiers all intended to target him.

"Your Highness, none of your subordinates have suffered any harm, nor have they experienced any dangers. Although we have a few men undercover at various locations out of reach, there has been no signs of their disappearance either, as that would alert those we are hiding from."

The man who was responsible of sharing the results of their investigation could not help but feel very depressed. When he picked the Fourth Demon Prince as his master, he had done so due to the sheer determination he had for winning the throne.

Back then, Jiang Yao was still not as outstanding as now, and everyone were convinced that it would be Jiang Luo who took over the throne.

As the time passed by, there were more uncertainties, but as a loyal follower of the Fourth Demon Prince, this man never doubted that his master would become the next Emperor.

However, during the last few weeks, he had begun to realize that Jiang Luo was not as outstanding as he claimed. The only benefit that this prince had above the others was that he was willing to do anything to win.

Unfortunately, he had no other benefits, and the reason for his continued survival was mainly due to the complete lack of attention from his brothers.

Even now, when it was clear that their lairs and subordinates were unharmed, this paranoid prince was getting upset and furious as he did not even believe the facts placed in front of him.

Serving a paranoid and useless master was making everyone troubled, and although it was impossible to betray him, most of the servants were starting to hope that he would give up his obsession with the throne. If he did not, it was likely that not only would he die, but he would drag all of them down with him.

While Jiang Luo was pacing furiously back and forth in the study, Qin Baixue was leisurely resting on the couch by the side. In her hands was a goblet with wine, and in front of her a small table with fruits.

While she seemed relaxed, the disdain in her eyes could not be masked as she clearly found the despaired prince a source of amusement.

Everyone was painfully aware that their master was nothing more than a useless tool for her to harm the young lover of the Seventh Demon Prince, but their master himself was certain that he was respected and viewed as a partner.. Such delusions already made it clear that Jiang Luo had long since lost his grasp of reality.
