Rest In A Demon’s Embrace

Chapter 120 - Is It A Legacy?

Chapter 120 - Is It A Legacy?

Luo Xiao was slowly moving forward. He was not willing to take any risks, and while Jiang Yao was by his side, he was not so naive as to think that there was nothing in the world that could threaten the two of them.

Jiang Yao was strong, but he was not invincible. Since this was the case, then he needed to be extra alert.

Seeing the vigilance in Luo Xiao's eyes as he slowly made his way out of the meadow, and back into the forest, Jiang Yao felt his heart bloom in happiness.

He was not too worried, as he knew the Beast Ridge quite well. Although there were certain places where he would be in danger if he brought Luo Xiao, the current location was not one of them.

There was simply nothing around this area which could threaten him. It was also because of this knowledge that he allowed the younger man to search for what was calling him.

Jiang Yao had not been lying. There were many legacies and inheritances located within the Beast Ridge, and many of these were only unlocked by special physiques or talents.

Being an Astral Soul, it would be quite weird if there was not one that suited Luo Xiao.

So, when thinking about this, Jiang Yao was quite certain that what he could feel was an inheritance space that had the will to make him the successor. Such a piece of luck should definitely be taken and enjoyed, and thus he did not mind putting the search for the Moon Anise on hold for a short while.

Luo Xiao continued forward slowly. He had also heard that Jiang Yao said that there was a big chance that this was a good thing, but he could not help but feel somewhat uncomfortable in his heart.

Even so, his curiosity had grown a lot, and he was sure that he should locate the calling. Not just because of the intense pain he felt when he ignored it, but also because if he did not, he would always regret it.

Something that had such an influence on him, if he did not come to the bottom of this, then it would forever be something that would cause him to feel uncomfortable.

Such feelings were likely to turn into heart demons as time went on, and one would be even more unsure about themselves. When one began to doubt oneself, then it was truly the end of one's advancement in cultivation; such a phenomenon had to be solved completely so that he could move on.

Neither Jiang Yao nor Luo Xiao was speaking. They just advanced through the thicket. There were no animal trails or other easy to traverse paths, so they had to continually make their own way through the dense trees and bushes.

The fact that they had to make their own path slowed them quite a bit, but they did not give up their advance.

Luo Xiao had stopped scanning the surroundings. The Moon Anise preferred to reside in open spaces like the meadow, not in a dense forest like this, where the sunlight barely came through the thick tree crowns.

The Moon Anise required a lot of moonlight, but also sunshine to grow. It was almost a spiritual plant, and thus it had high requirements for its habitat.

Luo Xiao felt somewhat guilty about having to go to deal with his problem first, but he did not mention it. Jiang Yao had made the decision because he wanted to help him, and it would be wrong of him not to accept this gesture.

They had not come across any other humans, demons, spirits, or humanoid beasts since entering the Beast Ridge, and thus there was not a big chance of others taking the Moon Anise before them, even if they took a short detour.

Luo Xiao was not aware that Jiang Yao had given up on the Moon Anise.

Although it was possible to find it again, it would likely have moved to another location, but what mattered most to him was not the herb, but the boost in strength that Luo Xiao could gain from a legacy.

If Luo Xiao had known about the thoughts that Jiang Yao was having, he would have refused to continue to follow the calling. He was not willing to see Jiang Yao sacrifice yet another Moon Anise for his sake.

When one was inheriting a legacy, it was not something that could be done in moments. It would usually take days, if not weeks, to integrate with it, and by then, the moon Anise would be long gone.

However he did not regret his decision. Luo Xiao wanted to stand by his side, shoulder to shoulder, and support each other. Since Luo Xiao had made this decision, then Jiang Yao would support him. He would help him take one step at a time, until he was strong enough to stand by his side.

By then, the two of them would be a power couple, someone that others could only look up to, and that no one would dare to scheme against.

Jiang Yao truly respected Luo Xiao. If he wanted to pamper and spoil him, he would have long since killed the Fourth Prince for the sake of avenging his little lover, but he understood that this would not bring the young man any happiness.

Luo Xiao was not someone who wanted others to do everything for him. He wanted to have the strength to avenge himself. He wanted to be strong enough to be able to return the grievances he had experienced personally.

To him, Jiang Yao was his lover, but he was also a normal man. He was not going to abuse the love that this Demon Prince had for him; he wanted to be his equal.
