Chapter 23

Chapter 23

With this, Lee Hwan removed his foot. He grabbed Jeong-Nam’s hair and pulled him up.

“It is very rare for me to receive help from someone.”

“….”

“And because of that fucktard and that fucking top member of authority, one of them had to go through heartbreaking pain. And that is why…”

He paused for a bit and smiled brightly. “I’m going to teach them a lesson. A lesson that they should have let the lion sleep.”

With that being said, he began exerting great force on Jeong-Nam, who shivered. Lee Hwan ignored it. His hand was about to shoot toward Jeong-Nam’s throat when the big man standing next to Ee-Na, team leader Yoon Jeong-Soo, shouted, “Stop! That’s enough!”

Lee Hwan turned to him and asked, “Who are you?”

“I’m Yoon Jeong-Soo, team leader of ROKHA team one. I’ll give you five seconds to let that victim down and kneel on the ground…”

His words were cut off by a loud cracking sound – the sound of Lee Hwan breaking Jeong-Nam’s neck.

Time seemed to pass slowly, and Hwan was the only one who seemed calm. He looked down and observed Jeong-Nam. “Congratulations on being famous. You just pissed and shat in front of everyone. That kind of news will certainly spread fast.”

Contrary to popular belief, even if a person’s neck bone was broken, that person could still survive for a very short time. That was why Hwan was speaking directly to Jeong-Nam. He wanted Jeong-Nam to suffer, even while he was dying.

“I’ll send you some people to keep you company, so you rest first.”

As soon as Hwan dropped Jeong-Nam’s dead body, Yoon Jeong-Soo stepped forward. His face was full of fury. “…Didn’t you hear what I said?”

Lee Hwan laughed and replied. “I don’t make it a hobby to listen to bullshit. What was it again? Kneel in five seconds?”

He burst out laughing. He laughed as if he has never heard of something as absurd as this. “Why are there a lot of people who don’t know their place?”

With this, Lee Hwan’s smile disappeared, and the atmosphere immediately became tense. “I have heard that a lot before. Do you know what happened to those who said that to me?”

“Do I have to know that?”

“It would be good to know, though. Let me tell you. They are having a meeting in heaven.”

Although he doubted if they could enter heaven. Lee Hwan chuckled at his thoughts and shook his head. Though the area was full of Jeong-Nam’s blood, his clothes and body were clean as if he had never touched the body.

Despite that, he dusted off his hands as if he was getting rid of dirt. It was a habit he had picked up from when he was in Valhalla, the place where killing and hands full of blood were commonplace.

“You will regret every single action you will take. This is my last warning,” Lee Hwan stated.

Jeong-Soo frowned. This was turning out to be a meaningless conversation.

Everyone suddenly moved forward. Ee-Na was the only one who hesitated for a bit. Their team’s job was to keep people safe. In circumstances like this, who should she side with? There was a procedure and law in this world, and Lee Hwan did not conform to it. He was not in Valhalla anymore; this was Earth and Korea. So Ee-Na decided to act as one of ROKHA’s members. She rushed toward him.

Lee Hwan turned his head. The first Hunter to reach him was Yoon Jeong-Soo, the leader of the team. He ran to Hwan with his fist outstretched, and it was turning red. It was his skill known as the ‘fire fist.’

Though he was barely on the threshold of being an S-rated Hunter, he was still considered as one of the strongest men in this country. However, he was not an S-rated Hunter from the beginning. He worked from the ground up, training his skills to get to where he was today.

As color gathered around Jeong-Soo’s fist, a type of burning aura was formed. His fist was aimed directly at Hwan’s head.

Everyone, except for Ee-Na, knew that it would be over for Lee Hwan soon.

Usually, it was Jeong-Soo who finished their job very quickly. He was an S-rated Hunter, the strongest in their team, so everyone except Ee-Na slowed down.

Lee Hwan balled up his fist and raised it to counter Jeong-Soo’s. Two fists collided with each other, and a loud cracking sound resonated. The aura from Jeong-Soo’s fist was ripped apart and his hand was literally crushed by his opponent.

“…What the hell?”

Those simple words were enough to describe how everyone felt. Jeong-Soo, the S-rated Hunter, had been defeated by a single blow. His arms were heavily injured, and he had fallen unconscious.

Everyone was suddenly afraid, and they felt that time was moving so slowly. While everyone else was paralyzed by fear, there was a woman who rushed alone. She carried a shield on her right hand and a dagger on her left.

It was Yoo Ee-Na. She quickly went for his back and tried to attack him. He dodged it easily as if it was nothing. That was how confident he was. Then he rotated his body, gearing for a kick.

Ee-Na’s instinct told her to stay put and block his attack.

Crack-!

Her weapons literally smashed into pieces. However, that was not all. Without any loss of power from her weapons, his foot continued its arc to strike Ee-Na’s head.

She did not fall down. She desperately attempted to endure the attack, but she knew that it had caused a lot of damage. She was dizzy and even felt some nausea, the kind that made it hard to stand back up once you fall down.

Ee-Na tried to stand up, but she could not.

She had to admit to herself that she was defeated by a single strike. Even if she had tried to block the attack, she had still fallen.

An astonished exclamation came out of her mouth. What she had felt from his apartment was correct; Lee Hwan was at a totally different level. She had battled with him twice, so she was justified in thinking that. Hwan could kill anyone if he wanted to. In fact, he uses just a single blow to defeat S-rated Hunters.

“I don’t want to disturb those who try to work hard. Just take a rest for now.”

Lee Hwan snapped his fingers, and the noise made everyone fall down. Every Hunter except Yoo Ee-Na seemed to pass out. The ground and the buildings around them shook violently. Cars stopped moving immediately.

The school was silent again, but Hwan did not leave. He sat on the dead body of Park Jeong-Nam.

“What are you going to do?”

“Well, since I killed him, his parents would probably come. It would be better for them to come by themselves. Or else…”

“…Or else?”

“There will be more blood to spill.”

Lee Hwan smiled softly, but it did not match the view now. Ee-Na wanted to believe that this was just a dream, but unfortunately, it was not.

***

From a distance, Jeong Gi-Hoon could be seen talking to someone on his smartwatch.

[ I’m sorry to say this, but I’m very disappointed in you. ]

“……..”

[ It is your duty to look after my brother. I believe that materials were provided for you. ]

“…I’m really sorry, sir.”

Jeong Gi-Hoon had no face to show his boss, for he knew that Lee Hwan was a very important person. To the guild, he was more than a VIP; he was the brother of Lee Ho, the Cheon-Myeong Guild Master. Moreover, he was even stronger than Lee Ho. Even if Ho used all his skills, including his fame, wealth, and the power of the entire Cheon-Myeong guild, Hwan would undoubtedly still win.

He definitely was not a man like anyone else. In fact, he was far beyond everyone. That was why Gi-Hoon could do nothing but apologize for Lee Hwan’s behavior. He did not have any excuses for his faults. Ho paused for a while, and the line remained silent. Then he asked a question.

[ What is he doing now? ]

He meant his brother. To answer his question, Gi-Hoon turned his head to look. He was shocked to see what was happening.

“ROKHA has come. I think they are about to clash… Should I interfere?”

What he meant by interfering was not stopping Lee Hwan. It meant using Cheon-Myeong’s power to scare ROKHA away.

Lee Ho answered in the negative, so he stood and observed what was happening. As they expected, it was Lee Hwan who won the battle. That was an obvious result, but interestingly, no one died. That was done on purpose, he didn’t intend to kill anyone except his target. Yet it also meant that if they bothered him, then they would surely pay for it.

What was Lee Ho thinking now? Gi-Hoon asked himself.

He guessed that maybe Lee Ho would personally stop Lee Hwan. After all, he was the hero of Korea. But he was wrong.

[ Park Jeong-Nam? I remember him. Son of Park Soo-Ho, one of the powerful members of the authority. And I know that Soo-Ho’s wife, Park Seul-Ki, did not manage to become a judge. ]

At this, Lee Ho sighed.

[ Eugene Chemical Incident. I remember that. Because of his actions, forty-five people died and a lot of contaminated water entered our airport. He was declared to be innocent. ]

Get them. That was Lee Ho’s order.

[ If they resist, you can break their arms or legs. ]

The order was for Hong Jong-Geun, the chief secretary.
