Chapter 140 The Minister Of The Environment
Chapter 140 The Minister Of The Environment
When Arthur and Amanda arrived at the door, it suddenly opened by itself, like an elevator door, which was a bit odd since it was made of wood.
Behind that door, there is a room with walls made of wood, full of carvings that actually contain a story if you look at it from the beginning of the wall.
It tells the story of a Goddess who leads her kingdom to fight against the devil's kingdom.
In the center, there is a round table surrounded by seven chairs.
There was a small statue on the table, holding a torch emitting fire.
Isabel, who was wearing a fairly long skirt plus a white and gray shirt, sat in one of the chairs, looking at the tablet screen she was carrying. The cup filled with wine in front of her still didn't diminish in the slightest, looking like she really hadn't moved since she sat down.
Her face only reacted when she heard the sound of the door moving. Seeing Arthur coming with Amanda, her eyes showed a bit of a strange light.
"Come on sit down," she said to the two before looking at Amanda more closely.
The latter probably felt like Isabel was going to make fun of her, so before she could say anything, she said, "Mrs. Isabel, you sit here, are you using your own money or using our tax money?"
Such a question was truly the ultimate attack for any official. Although there is indeed a special budget from the government that is allowed to be used to rent luxury hotels or eat at certain restaurants for work reasons, officials who use it tend to be considered a little less moral. Since the beginning, quite a lot of people have rejected the budget.
At the party, Anna handed out membership cards that could be used for one free meal, but that was only for regular classes, not on the highest floors where the cost might be tens of thousands of Euros for one meal.
Plus, at that time, Isabel refused the card given to her on the grounds that she did not receive gifts from anyone, only Arthur did.
Therefore, she can only use her own money or use special money from the government.
Of course, it must be her paying since she opened this room besides being the host. It couldn't possibly be handed over to the Minister of the Environment because she was a guest.
Unfortunately, Amanda's sarcasm didn't change Isabel's expression at all. She casually pushed her hair behind her ear and then placed a piece of paper in front of the chair Amanda was in.
The woman knitted her brows as she watched Isabel's actions.
? When she picked up the paper and looked at its contents, her face immediately twitched.
"You?" She pointed at Isabel's face in disbelief.
Arthur glanced at the paper and found it listed the ordered menu. Unfortunately, it wasn't in Isabel's name, but in Amanda's name.
That should not be possible because it requires direct confirmation from the customer. Maybe Isabel forced Anna to write Amanda's name.
Protesting just because she was paying was clearly not Amanda's style, so she didn't try to object, only showing her frustration at being set up.
"Surely a woman like you is always up for a little fight," she said to Isabel.
Her tone sounded like she was calling Isabel a sly vixen.
Isabel didn't care, she just laughed lightly and replied, "I just want to remind you not to be arrogant if you become the daughter-in-law of the Wilson Family. Our family may not be rich, but we excel above the rest."
When she said that, Isabel raised her index finger.
Three small lightning bolts emerged from within the finger, surrounding it before gathering above it, forming a ball of lightning that emitted a sharp light. It gave the impression of being more dangerous than any bullet.
Amanda who had just sat down almost jumped back when she saw the ball lightning. Her mouth opened and the word 'you' came out.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, the ball of lightning shot through, piercing some of Amanda's hair before flying further. However, it disappeared before it hit the wall or else it would have cracked or possibly caught fire.
Amanda's breath became labored, she checked her hair through which the lightning had passed and found it was fine.
Seeing her current expression, Isabel laughed softly, like a contented cat after bullying a mouse.
Amanda in the end could only take a deep breath. She didn't even say anything even though her heart was probably cursing Isabel.
Drama between women was so commonplace in Arthur's eyes that his expression barely changed.
What interested him were only the ball lightning released by Isabel. He thought his aunt's control over her powers was already very good. In other words, she was already a dangerous being.
If she were to fight the Evolvers from the Mossad that Arthur had killed, she would have no problem defeating them as long as they didn't use firearms.
Not long after, the sound of sirens echoed from the street as a group of cars came by.
One is a Black Mercedes while the rest are police cars.
The police in the cars descended quickly as soon as the Mercedes pulled up.
They lined up and blocked the people who wanted to get closer.
One of the police then opened the back door of the car.
Soon after that the figure of a white-haired old woman stepped down from the Mercedes.
She may be in her 70s, but still looks healthy, even exuding an aura that is more elegant than most young women.
Even a woman like Amanda showed an amazed expression when she saw her. She said, "Mrs. Evelyn is really blessed, with her current condition, she should still be able to hold the ministerial chair for another two terms."
In terms of background, she is similar to Isabel, a pure female politician and not from a certain elite family.
And even though she has occupied a strategic position for a long time, her family's status can still be said to be that of an ordinary family where each has their own profession, not building a big business that is the core of the family's power.
Since not many could be idealistic like that, a compliment was well deserved for her.
However, it seems that this time she came alone, without even an assistant.
Escorted by several policemen, she walked towards Anna's restaurant.
Anna herself walked right up to her as far as the parking lot, flashing her the nicest smile she could.
