Chapter 323 Rebecca
Chapter 323 Rebecca
?
"Now that I'm on my way to Paris, you'll come, right?" she asked.
"Yeah, I'm leaving tomorrow morning," Arthur replied without showing any change of expression.
"Is there anything?" He then asked.
"Just to make sure whether you're coming or not, anyway, I want to see how you'll conquer me," Suzune replied.
Of course, there was nothing strange about Suzune knowing that Arthur's original intention towards her was to conquer her after their few communications.
Unfortunately, despite knowing that Arthur was a magus, the woman did not seem to be afraid at all.
"Actually, you'd better run as far away as possible," Arthur replied.
"Tsk! Tsk!" Suzune chuckled after hearing Arthur's words.
"Why should I run when a handsome man is chasing me? Wouldn't throwing myself at you be better?" She replied.
"Ohh..." Arthur was somewhat surprised by her answer because it sounded like she was interested in doing what he wanted.
Although from the beginning she seemed to want to offer herself to him, but she clearly refused when he said he wanted everything from her.
This time, it was as if she didn't mind.
Arthur who thought of her as a cunning woman immediately suspected that she had a plan that made her confident.
He wasn't sure if the plan was reliable against him before he became an Official Magus, but since he was already an Official Magus, he had no worries.
If Suzune was an Evolver as he guessed, and she wanted to rely on that against him, he would only laugh at her.
"By the way, there's someone who wants to chat with you," the woman said suddenly.
"Who?" asked Arthur.
"My mom," Suzune replied with a faint smile.
After saying that, she tilted her phone to the other side of the airplane window.
Next Arthur saw a sight that surprised him.
A middle-aged woman wearing a professional skirt sat with her legs crossed, showing off her smooth white skin.
Her blonde hair was in a neat bun, just like Suzune's, but she looked much more mature.
She was drinking wine and turned her gaze to Suzune's cell phone right after the latter pointed her cell phone screen at her.
Her bright green eyes plus her calm and cool expression were enough to amaze Arthur.
She was indeed a high-class woman who was in her prime.
This didn't mean she was much prettier than Anna or Mia, but clearly her social status was far above them. People only needed to see them once to be able to deduce the difference.
"You look familiar," Arthur said upon seeing her.
He didn't know her, but he thought he had seen her somewhere.
"How do you not know, the person whose speech is most anticipated at certain times, the director of the Fed." Suzune suddenly spoke with a quiet laugh.
When he heard that, Arthur finally remembered who this woman was and it only made him more surprised.
Her name was Rebecca. In fact, he had seen her several times on TV or heard some people talking about her while discussing the economy.
He did not expect that Suzune's mother was that kind of woman.
"This is interesting," he said, looking at Rebecca with a faint smile.
"So, what kind of thing would a director of the Fed want to talk to me about?" asked Arthur with an expression like he was holding back laughter.
Of course, now he had a new thought - that this woman might have been watching him since he communicated with Suzune.
Or maybe she was the one who planned everything? Either way, in front of a woman like her, Suzune could not possibly be the organizer.
"I just wanted to see you and chat with you," Rebecca replied, looking relaxed.
She took another sip of her wine before continuing, "as a young man with power, you must be full of vigor."
"Of course, goals cannot be achieved without vigor." Arthur nodded.
"Indeed, that's a good thing. The world today really lacks heroic young men full of ambition. Some have talent but end up just being puppets for others. It makes things boring." The woman said.
"Why do you say that, Mrs. Rebecca?" Arthur asked.
"Just wanted to say it," she replied.
"However, in a struggle, there are always winners and losers," she continued then looked at Arthur more seriously while her lips curved slightly upwards.
"Young man, are you ready to be the loser?" She ended her words with a question.
For Arthur, this was not an unfamiliar question.
Defeat?
It looked scary indeed. Unfortunately he had already experienced more defeats than ones could imagine.
Of course, defeating him after so many defeats was no easy feat.
He laughed softly as he answered Rebecca's question. "I believe I will be the winner. Both of you, mother and daughter will submit to me."
He was deliberately showing arrogance, but in truth he also had confidence.
"Hmph, boy, don't be so proud, the world doesn't revolve around you." Suzune responded immediately, clearly annoyed by the last sentence spoken by Arthur.
However, Rebecca only smiled.
"Yeah, one can't achieve anything without confidence. Defeat is also nothing to cry about, just a lesson," she said.
Actually, Ciel did not understand what exactly Rebecca's purpose was in saying all of the above. Did she just want to talk or was there something she wanted to learn from him?
"Right, can you bring me the agarwood you're selling tomorrow? You know, I've been curious ever since I heard about it." She said again.
Surely she had a good source of information so she could guess that she was the person behind the agarwood, unlike Yukiko who knew nothing.
Arthur smiled and nodded in response. "That's no problem, I also happen to be producing new agarwood, so I can give you one."
"That would be amazing," Rebecca replied.
"Is there anything else you want to talk about?" Arthur then asked.
"No, nothing, we can end the conversation here," Rebecca replied.
"Tomorrow, we will meet, I'm sure it will be a pleasant meeting."
"I'm sure about that too!" Arthur agreed.
After that, Suzune disconnected the video call so that Rebecca's figure disappeared from Arthur's cell phone screen.
