Chapter 69 Cinderella And Her Stepsister
Chapter 69 Cinderella And Her Stepsister
?The cold-faced man stared at Arthur, only for a moment but he made a careful observation. He then replied "the manager said not to charge, please come in!"
Arthur took a step right after he said that while Amanda snorted coldly at Rose.
The inside of the building not only has stairs leading underground, it also has three lifts, which can be used by anyone who pays more as each lift is guarded by a man carrying a card swipe machine.
The cold-faced man naturally directed Arthur and the others to one of those elevators. They could enter without paying, it would be a joke if they had to use the stairs.
The inside of the lift was quite cold and refreshing. It was also clean, tidy, and had air freshener, giving Arthur and the others a comfortable sensation as it was quite hot outside.
"Boss, that man is the manager's assistant, he's the most skilled here," Rose said as the elevator descended. The CCTV in the elevator didn't have voice recording function, so Rose didn't hesitate in speaking.
"Who is stronger between him and you?" Arthur asked.
"Hmm, of course I'm the stronger one, fifteen moves is enough to beat him, if it's now, one move is enough," Rose replied.
"Wait, are you already a knight?" Amanda asked, she was surprised when she heard Rose's words.
"What? Just noticed?" Rose responded with a smile that almost looked like she was mocking her.
Amanda rolled her eyes, she gave a soft snort and replied, "just a knight, wait until I become a magus, let's see who's better."
"I don't know when you can become a magus, but okay, I will wait for you," Rose replied.
After that, she asked Arthur again. "Boss, is it possible to learn both methods, magic and knight?"
"It's possible, but it's better not to do it now, focus on one thing only, develop it well," Arthur replied. "A person becomes strong not depending on how many skills they master, but depending on how deep it is. One profound skill can overpower ten ordinary skills."
"I see!" Rose nodded.
DING!
The elevator doors finally opened, revealing a wide hall that didn't look like it was underground.
A large stage stood in the center, surrounded by iron railings that confined the stage to it while behind the iron railings were rows of stands that could possibly seat up to five hundred people.
It was clean, still looking brand new, but with one glance, Arthur could feel countless traces of hatred and souls wanting to live again to kill their enemies.
"Boss, do you know what the battles are like here?" Rose asked, looking like she wanted to continue chatting with Arthur, something Amanda didn't like.
"No, I don't know yet," Arthur replied.
"Well, generally it's a fight between two experts, or an expert against a beast. They fight without rules, being allowed to do anything to kill the opponent...
"And sometimes, it's a fight between two ordinary people who hold grudges. This one is usually more interesting because even if they aren't skilled, their fights are full of emotion and intent to kill."
"So the fight this time should be of the latter kind? Then how did they find those two people filled with grudges, kidnap them or is there really an offer to fight here?" asked Arthur.
"They usually kidnap them and bring them together on this stage. Because their hatred is too deep, they don't need to be told to fight because they will fight on their own and won't stop until one of them dies."
"Isn't that terrible?" Amanda couldn't help but knit her brows.
"This place doesn't suit you, I suggest you go back upstairs," Rose told her.
When she said that, she looked serious, which meant she was actually giving Amanda advice, not just mocking or belittling her.
Amanda ignored her advice, she just stood there.
Arthur then chose a seat, in a quiet area and quite far away.
Not long after she sat down, the lights illuminating all the stands suddenly went out, making the stands go dark, only the lights on the stage were on so that it looked clearer. People standing on the stage probably wouldn't be able to see the people in the stands. Plus, no one was playing on their phones, so no light at all.
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen!" A slightly hoarse old voice resounded as an old man appeared from the side of the stage and got on it.
He looks confident, staring at some point that might hide the camera for recording.
"This is Hank, the manager," Rose told Arthur.
Hank took out his cell phone after arriving at the center of the stage, he opened it and nodded in satisfaction.
"This time there are 25,000 thousand people watching in various parts of the world, including one of the highest," he said in an excited tone.
Arthur already knew that the price for viewing via the internet ranged from a thousand to two thousand dollars, so adding up, they earned at least 30 to 40 million dollars, this could indeed be said to be a very profitable business.
"I'm sure you guys are so curious by now what today's fight was like that we claim it to be a fun one," Hank continued, looking into the camera again.
"Well, most of us here are of the older generation, the generation that grew up hearing Cinderella stories."
"Cinderella was the daughter of a wealthy merchant, whose father later remarried and so she had a step-mother and sister.
"It's just that her mother and half-sister are very mean to her. They are jealous and hate her, want to get rid of her.
"Maybe in most stories, Cinderella is a kind woman until the end, but how is that possible, who in this world doesn't hate those who hurt us?
"Under hatred, no one is forever weak. Even an ant will fight an elephant if it is stepped on." Hank paused to take a few breaths, indicating that he was old, unable to speak continuously without a pause.
After his breath stabilized, then he continued again.
"I'm sure you've guessed today's fight… Yeah, it was a fight between Cinderella and her stepsister. They were two beautiful young women who were the same age but for some reason, had grown to hate one another. Before they even came here, they've tried to kill each other.
"Outside, they'd be stopped after only hitting each other once, but in here, they could keep hitting, clawing, biting each other until one of them was killed."
