Chapter 100 – Can You Play Confession Of Love

“Eldest Miss Jing, anything else?” Yan Huaijing looked at Jing Wenyan with a faint smile in his eyes, which made people feel as if they were bathed in a spring breeze.

Jing Wenyan bit her lips but did not say anything particular. She leaned to the side and said, “I hope Your Heir-apparent will come to my birthday banquet.”

“I will if I have time.” Yan Huaijing stood up with those words and glided out. When his wide robe brushed past the corner of Wei Yuewu’s clothes, Wei Yuewu raised her head again. She wondered if other people had the same feeling that this heir-apparent of the Duke of Yan State gave off a sense of imposing nobility and power, despite his elegant smile.

Moreover, he was clearly a man of capricious moods.

Were those smiles of his really sincere?

After Yan Huaijing left, the two young ladies picked clothes for a while. Since they were just newly acquainted, it was impossible for Wei Yuewu to place full trust in the other. Fortunately, this Eldest Miss Jing seemed to be preoccupied. After selecting a few clothes, the two of them parted ways. It was the Eldest Miss Jing who left first to attend other matters.

Wei Yuewu did not leave immediately. Shufei had returned by this time. After Jing Wenyan left with her maid, she closed the door of the private room and reported to Wei Yuewu.

“Miss, the shopkeeper said that the material was not from Brocade Clothing Shop. Someone brought it over and requested the shop to sell it for him. That person also said it was left behind by his ancestors but the family was facing a crisis now. They need money urgently and had to sell this rare piece of soft brocade. However, as soon as that person left, the Eldest Miss Jing came.”

“She asked to take a look at the material directly and said she wanted to buy it.” Shufei reported in detail.

Someone had hardly brought the material over when Jing Wenyan got the news. Moreover, Brocade Clothing Shop couldn’t possibly have access to such materials. From these evidences, Wei Yuewu was 90% sure that this material belonged to Jing Wenyan herself, or in other words, it was a collection of the Duke of Jing State.

As a Duke, the Duke of Jing State was fairly able to collect such a piece of brocade.

Then, this material was presented to Yan Huaijing….

This train of thought was much smoother. The Duke of Jing State had said that the matter regarding him had something to do with Yan Huaijing. That was why the Eldest Miss Jing, who had a good reputation, made such a gesture to show her friendliness towards Yan Huaijing. Of course, it was also because of Yan Huaijing that she showed affection toward Wei Yuewu.

“What is the matter with the young ladies downstairs?” Wei Yuewu picked up the tea in her hand and took a sip. The tea got a little cool and tasted bitterer.

“The shopkeeper is not very clear about that. He only said that business went on pretty well today. A lot of aristocratic young ladies came and bought clothes together and were all generous in their spending. There is nothing unusual apart from that.” Shufei said.

“Are those young ladies still there?” When she thought of the presence of so many young ladies there before she came upstairs, Wei Yuewu involuntarily frowned. Jing Wenyan had delivered the precious soft brocade to Yan Huaijing in such a way. This matter originally had nothing to do with her, but if it involved Brocade Clothing Shop….

Her granny trusted her so that she entrusted the shop to her. She would not let anything happen to it without doing anything to help.

Wei Yuewu believed that Yan Huaijing had seen through Jing Wenyan’s intention. Jing Wenyan herself wouldn’t think that this technique of cover-up would make Yan Huaijing unable to realize that she specially sent the brocade to him. However, why didn’t Jing Wenyan use her own shop to sell the piece of material to Yan Huaijing?

How could a large aristocratic family like that of the Duke of Jing State not have its own shop in the capital?

If Yan Huaijing would know the truth, why was there the need to use such a way to cover up her intention?

“Most of the young ladies had left after the heir-apparent of Yan State left, but some remained. The shopkeeper said that those young ladies were inquiring about the soft brocade.” Shufei replied.

In other words, some people knew about the soft brocade in the shop, and because Yan Huaijing and Jing Wenyan had traded secretly, the shop was the only part of the news known to other people so far.

If the shop had the financial resources to obtain one piece, it would be able to obtain another. Whether it was Yan Huaijing or Jing Wenyan who bought the first piece of the material, others couldn’t do anything about it, nor did they dare to have any idea about it. However, if the target was just Brocade Clothing Shop, it would be a different case. If someone used power to force the shop, where could the shop find a second piece?

When she thought of this possibility, Wei Yuewu frowned slightly and felt a sense of crisis in her heart. After pondering for a while, she said to Shufei, “Ask the shopkeeper to delay the young ladies for a while until that person comes to collect the money. Make sure those young ladies see who receives the money.”

No matter whether this Eldest Miss Jing was intentional or not, she had caused great trouble for Brocade Clothing Shop. The shop could not shoulder responsibility. Wei Yuewu had to reveal part of the dealing before any disaster happened.

Hearing that the material was deposited here and that someone would come to collect the money soon, at least four or five young ladies stayed.

In order to avoid other people’s attention, Wei Yuewu purposely left from the back of the shop. The back door faced a small alley, across which was another street. This was the way that would least attract people’s attention. Customers in the front of the shop were all focused on the soft brocade. Wei Yuewu did not want to join the group at this time.

However, as soon as she went out of the shop, Wei Yuewu saw a person standing not far away.

Her eyes blinked and she subconsciously stopped. His man was waiting for her at this place….

“Sixth Young Lady, our master is over there.” The lad servant of Yan Huaijing’s seemed to have waited for a while. When he saw Wei Yuewu, he hurriedly came forward and pointed at the opposite courtyard.

Coincidentally, it was the back door to another courtyard.

Now that he was waiting for her, what else could she say? Wei Yuewu had no choice but to nod her head and follow behind the lad servant into the door that was ajar.

The door opened. There was not a single person in the open backyard. Yet Wei Yuewu believed that there were a lot of guards hiding in the place.

This was actually a small courtyard with only one entrance in the front. By walking around it one would reach the front gate. There were a few bamboo stalks, beside which was a small unique rock. The simple embellishment refined the look of the entire courtyard.

Seeing Wei Yuewu coming with Shufei, a maid in the middle of the three main chambers lifted the curtain and waited there.

Wei Yuewu hesitated for a moment. Then she left Shufei outside the door and walked into the room.

“Come here.” A clear and elegant voice was heard from the room on the left.

Wei Yuewu turned around and walked into the wing on the left. She saw Yan Huaijing casually leaning on a couch. His wide sleeves and lower hem were embroidered with dark-colored patterns. He looked all the more handsome.

His pair of glittering eyes made her afraid of looking into them. Without his usual gentleness, Yan Huaijing looked a bit cold but more real and imposing than the image of an exiled immortal as he often appeared to be.

“Take a seat.” Yan Huaijing pointed to the brocade stool on the side. The corners of his handsome lips slowly curled up into his signature gentle smile.

However, in Wei Yuewu’s eyes, such a smile appeared like an illusory flower of darkness blooming on an ice-made mausoleum. No one knew if rivers of blood would shed in the next moment once this flower broke. This heir-apparent of the Duke of Yan State was always unfathomable and no one could figure out what he was thinking about.

Seeing Wei Yuewu blankly staring at him, Yan Huaijing suddenly said blandly, “Or do you want to sit by my side?”

He reached out and patted on his soft couch. This time, Wei Yuewu quickly sat down on a brocade stool on the side and collected her mind.

“May I ask what orders Your Heir-apparent has for me?” Wei Yuewu asked sincerely. She raised her eyes to show her openness.

“Can you play the tune of Confession of Love?” Yan Huaijing pointed to a qin placed on the side. As he was leaning against the couch and his clothes were slightly loose, his fair and exquisite collarbone was revealed, making him look more bewitching than elegant.

“Yes… a little.” Wei Yuewu didn’t know what he meant, but she still smiled. She was much alarmed in her heart.

How could one casually play Confession of Love?

“If you are asked to perform on stage, how about playing Confession of Love?” Yan Huaijing looked at Wei Yuewu’s slightly nervous eyes as well as her long thick eyelashes that fluttered with a feeling of grievance. He felt that his mood improved immediately, and the smile on his face became even more elegant.

To go on stage and perform Confession of Love?

Wei Yuewu sprung to her feet in fright. Her clear eyes stared at Yan Huaijing in disbelief and she said with difficulty, “Your Heir-apparent… are you serious?”

“Of course.” Yan Huaijing lazily narrowed his handsome eyes.

“Your Heir-apparent, you can’t make me do this.” Wei Yuewu was enraged.

“I saved your life and we have an agreement between us.” Yan Huaijing said with a beaming smile. From Wei Yuewu’s point of view, he looked more like an elegant fox now, the kind that carried a bit of a bloodthirsty aura. Sure enough, she had judged him correctly all the time.

“Your Heir-apparent, I know that you saved me, and I will repay you, but not in this way.” Wei Yuewu involuntarily took a step forward and looked expressionlessly at Yan Huaijing in front of her, trying her best to express her anger.

“Aren’t you going to ask to whom you will play this tune?” Yan Huaijing raised his head and looked at the girl’s angry face. He laughed out loud in the end. He had always looked as elegant as a stream flowing slowly, but at this time he actually laughed very loudly. His handsome eyes were filled with smiles and the bottom of his eyes glittered with amusement.

“To whom?” Wei Yuewu secretly gritted her teeth. Her voice was more like it was squeezed out from between her teeth.

“To me.” Yan Huaijing finally stopped laughing. With a turn of his long eyes, he uttered the words with unspeakable charm.

“If Your Heir-apparent wants to listen to Confession of Love, I believe many young ladies are willing to play it for you.” Wei Yuewu said with a stern face. Her delicate and childish facial features made her look as adorable as usual despite her stern expression.

“Actually, I don’t necessarily need you to play it.” Yan Huaijing’s eyes glowed faintly. It was hard to see through his mind.
