Chapter 388 The Angered King
Chapter 388 The Angered King
Yuria quickly got down from the table like a frightened rabbit and mumbled, "Papa…"
She, who just experienced the memory of losing her parents, suddenly felt warmth spreading across her chest and eyes upon seeing her father in her present life.
She didn't know if he was the same father as hers in her past life, but nevertheless, she was elated to see him again, knowing that she at least had a father who was alive in this life.
Damien knitted his brows upon seeing that it was King Krisen who didn't look alright at all. In fact, Damien was beginning to feel a mountain of pressure descending down on him, making him lose control of his muscles slowly.
"You wicked boy...you dare!" King Krisen lips pulled back, baring his teeth in anger at seeing something he never expected when coming here.
"Wait, Your Majesty! You misunderstand!" Damien hurriedly said after he felt the killing intent of King Krisen raging around him.
"I will kill you!!" King Krisen immediately raised his hand to strike down at Damien and finish him.
"Papa, no!" Yuria panicked and quickly stood before him before her father could attack.
King Krisen frowned and shouted as he held back his attack, "Get out of the way, Yuria! I will take care of this fiend who dared to take advantage of you. You don't have to be afraid of him anymore. I am here."
King Krisen felt his blood boiling from anger, thinking that this boy blackmailed or overpowered Yuria into doing such depraved stuff. He also felt that Yuria was protecting him out of fear.
Yuria felt even more anxious, seeing that her father was seeing things in a totally wrong way.
She frantically said, "Papa, you misunderstand us! We love each other!"
King Krisen's eyes shook upon hearing his daughter's declaration, and became silent for a moment.
But then he shook his head and sternly said, "Nonsense. I have never seen you around with this boy before. Besides, I don't even know him. Stop lying, Yuria. You don't have to protect this fiend anymore."
Yuria felt a headache thinking about how she could explain the peculiar situation between her and Damien to her father since it was extremely hard to believe such stuff.
And she knew once her father was in an angry mood, then it was extremely hard to make him change his mind.
Damien came forward and held her hand as he said, "That's because we have been meeting privately since she was afraid of you finding out."
"You!" King Krisen's face almost became black, seeing how Damien was taking advantage of his daughter's protection to hold her hand, knowing that he wouldn't attack in fear of harming his daughter.
Yuria looked at him and hugged his arm as she gave a pleading look at her father and said, "Papa, what he said is true. We can explain things in detail later. But please don't hurt him. He is a good man and the only one I will love in this life."
Suddenly a wave of guards came in, and Damien quickly let go of Yuria's hands so that no one would spread any misguided rumors that could damage her reputation for now.
"Your Majesty! We heard a commotion and—"
"Capture that boy and throw him in the dungeon!" King Krisen said in a stiff tone, offering no room for negotiation.
Yuria was about to protest when she suddenly heard her father's voice transmission in her head, "Don't worry! I am not killing him or anything. But for now, this is the only way I can protect us from our enemies from taking advantage of this situation. Remember that they will target that boy as well if they see you being close with him."
"Okay...but if anything happens to him then...I don't have a reason to live anymore…" Yuria knew her father wouldn't go back on his word, but after experiencing how it felt to lose Damien in her past life, this time, she was adamant about not letting him go.
King Krisen took in a deep breath as he couldn't believe his previously innocent and playful daughter was acting so differently. It was as if she changed into a different person overnight and wondered why she was so passionate about this boy whom he had never seen before.
However, when he took a good look at that boy again, he saw how despite being in his presence, the boy never lost the calmness in his eyes. Usually, someone of his age would cower at the sight of him, especially considering the tremendous difference in status and cultivation.
But the boy coolly faced him and even declared that he loved his daughter, and by seeing the way he looked at Yuria, he felt that it might indeed be the truth no matter how shocking it was.
Still, as a father, he couldn't just let this slip by and wanted to thoroughly scrutinize this boy who claimed to be Yuria's lover.
Yuria bit her lips and looked at Damien, who nodded at her with a smile, indirectly telling her that everything was going to be alright.
He could already see that King Krisen dropped any plans of killing him and had something else in mind.
Yuria quickly recovered her composure since she didn't want anyone else, especially the guards, to notice anything wrong lest Damien gets noticed by the wrong parties. She really took her father's warning to heart after remembering what kind of world this was and her status.
Everything she does in public would be constantly noted by various parties with certain interests. But she decided to trust her father with this, hoping that he will let go of Damien after satisfying whatever questions he had.
The guards chained Damien's hands, and suddenly he felt a weakening sensation but then it disappeared immediately as well.
He felt that these chains were supposed to seal one's cultivation but didn't work on him because his ethereal core was quite different, especially with the presence of nethereal energy.
"You have a lot to explain, boy!" Damien heard King Krisen's voice in his head and sighed, thinking what all he was going to ask.
