Chapter 426 - A Month's Time
Chapter 426 - A Month's Time
Damien activated the talisman and passed on a message. Still, even after waiting for ten minutes, he still didn't get a response and decided to try again later in case Triton was busy with something.
Since he knew that there was still a month of time, Damien was a bit relaxed since he didn't have to rush things as long as nothing out of the ordinary was happening.
He still believed that Triton or his protectors should respond to him soon within this time and sort everything out without him having to lift a single finger.
But he then remembered how Kale was desperate in proving himself to be worthy of the crown prince seat and was worried if he might get impatient and launch an attack soon.
Damien couldn't tell if Kale would be able to bring down the barrier and the Forsaken people within the palace grounds soon, but he was sure that given enough time, Kale would be able to overwhelm them with his army and resources.
Since he was the eldest prince, he surely had his network of experts and resources at his disposal, which he might use since the Gale Emperor wouldn't provide additional help.
Damien thought that he should try to buy some time till Rhea got something substantial he could use though he had no idea if she would be able to come up with something, especially considering the risks it involved.
Damien indeed wanted to help out the little king's sister, but he never forgot what he came here for, and that was to take back the kingdom.
However, now he thought that he could strike two birds with one stone by helping out his sister while earning their goodwill as well to progress his plans. He thought that this whole mission of capturing back this kingdom could be a blessing in disguise as long as things end up well.
The little king and the others curiously looked at Damien standing in the corner, wondering what he was doing. But they didn't ask Tristen anything since they respected his privacy nor wanted to come off as rude.
Damien sighed and turned around as he walked towards them and said, "Unfortunately, we have to wait for some more time and see how things develop from my side since there is a huge possibility for us to not take any risks while solving the problem of Lord Shade going after your sister."
The little king's expression became taut but then became a bit relaxed as he nodded, "That's fine. Maybe it's better this way than taking risks without properly thinking it through. After all, getting out of the barrier while Lord Shade's men are watching could be quite difficult. So, are you and Prince Tristen leaving now?"
Tristen said with a low sigh, "For now. But don't worry. We will be in touch in the name of negotiation while I can tell Lord Shade that your sister is slowly in the process of accepting his demands because of my persuasion. I am sure he is mainly interested in your sister's abnormally high cultivation, and somehow he must have found a way to use her ethereal core to increase his cultivation. Something forbidden probably."
Damien believed that this could be the only reason why Drake was so interested in her since the notion of becoming a Heaven Ethereal Realm cultivator at such a ripe young age was no joke, especially when she was at its peak.
So even if he was in his twenties, becoming a Heaven Ethereal Cultivator at such a young age was unprecedented, and if he managed to reach it, then his future potential could be way beyond his initial expectations and probably even gain a cultivation that could rival the Xeton Emperor if he was lucky.
Such thoughts could surely fan the flames of greed in someone like Drake, who wouldn't rest till he gets what he wants.
Even Damien himself had to admit he wished he had a constitution like hers so that his goal of saving Lily in such a short time interval would seem more possible.
However, he was still glad and grateful he had the Anti-God's inheritance since otherwise he would never have achieved whatever he did in the last couple of months.
He knew that in the long run, the Anti-God's inheritance would far outshine any other special constitution since it was coming from a true primordial god from another dimension.
Damien then looked at Shin and said in a cautionary tone, "Shin, I would advise you not to visit the princess too frequently since not only is it dangerous, but our plans could get hindered as well if Lord Shade catches you. Do you understand what I am saying?"
Shin nodded earnestly as he said with a bow, "Of course, Master Godnim. I value Her Highness' safety more than my own life. I wouldn't dare to put her in more danger, especially after what happened today."
"Shin…" Ai gently called out his name as she bit her lip, feeling a bit sad that she might not be seeing him again soon.
Damien saw through her worries and said in a reassuring tone, "Don't worry, Your Highness. This is only temporary. Once you are escorted safely, Shin will surely be at your side."
"Thank you, Brother Godnim...for your kind words and for helping us out," Ai said with a faint smile, expressing her utmost gratitude since she never expected there to be anyone who would show a helping hand to her and her brother.
"Please don't be. We all want to end this without causing any unnecessary strife," Tristen said with a smile.
She knew he and Tristen were here to retake the kingdom, but still, she was glad they didn't force their way through by causing bloodshed but instead were willing to talk peace.
Damien and Tristen soon made their way out, and it was already dusk by the time they returned.
Kale saw these two walking out and wondered why they took so much time while feeling concerned if they made any progress or not.
Damien saw Kale looking at him with a frown from afar and inwardly thought that he must talk to Kale now just to make sure what he was up to.
