Chapter 625 What If There Was A Way?
Arthur's eyes momentarily shivered when he heard Sven's words, especially because he heard the very thing his mind had been telling him for all these days.
Sven made sure nobody was prying on them before saying in a low voice, "It seems that even you knew that as well. After all, we both know the things your father is capable of."
Arthur's hands were continuously trembling as he asked in a fragile voice, "I-I don't understand…Why would he do that? What wrong did my mother ever do? In fact, all she was trying to do was not bother him as much as possible. Even if…she was the empress, she never demanded even a second of his time nor any resources to help herself despite having the right to. She also didn't stop his concubines from spending time with him as well despite the fact that they were taking advantage of her illness to curry more favor with him. It just doesn't make sense…my poor mother…"
Arthur's eyes were becoming red as they misted up while Sven patted his back in a comforting way as he said, "It's because your mother healed from Damien's treatment. He made an example out of her. Anybody that benefits anything from Damien will die, including even his own wife. But more importantly, he only saw her as a useless bag of flesh that had no use to him. He disposes of anything he considers not important, even if it is his own blood. And with your mother all healed up, he couldn't even use her illness anymore to control and manipulate you. He is just a sick egotistical, and greedy bastard that will do anything to fulfill his goals. This is why I was always warning you in the past to never believe his words."
"Yaargh!!" Arthur let out a sudden quick shout as he punched the wall before him, smashing it to smithereens. Fortunately, nobody was nearby, and Sven had made sure to put a barrier around them so that nobody would be able to pry.
Arthur literally felt as if his heart and mind were ripping apart, thinking about his mother. She was the only one who truly loved him and someone whom he took care of diligently for years to make sure she could live with him for a very long time.
But now, everything he did was turned useless because of his own father. How could he not have a shred of love or emotion towards his own loyal wife who unconditionally loved him?
She gave everything to him, yet the only thing he returned to her was death.
It would have been fine even if he didn't love her and just ignored her like always. But killing her was just pure evil and something Arthur couldn't stomach.
Before he knew it, he was already having thoughts of slitting the throat of his mother's killer, even if it was his own father. Never had he ever dared to have such thoughts, but now he truly had no fear in having such thoughts.
Even when he was getting beaten and abused by his father, he endured it and never harbored any thoughts like this. But now that his mother was gone, everything he had been bottling up inside his heart just gushed out like a flood.
Sven looked on with narrowed eyes, seeing Arthur finally being able to grieve after being forced to put up a blank face since the day his mother died.
"R-Reva….where is my sister? Did he…also do something to her?" Arthur asked as the side profile of an icy maiden flashed in his mind. Even though she barely talked, just her presence was always comforting for him, even if it was from afar.
Sven sighed as he said, "I have no idea. Even if your father says to everyone that she is in seclusion, I haven't caught wind of her aura anywhere within the palace or even outside. It is hard for her icy aura to suddenly disappear like that when usually someone of my level can sense it whenever she is in the palace due to how contrasting it is. As far as I know, your father wouldn't harm a single hair on Reva considering how he was favoring her the entire time and giving her the best resources. If he had plans to harm her, why would he do that? But again…not even I can predict the things your father is capable of. To know if she really disappeared or not…that answer you can only find behind the secret door of your father. Unfortunately, only the emperor has the authority to go in there, and not even I can go inside without incurring his wrath. The only exception was Reva, which is why I am thinking that whatever is behind that secret door might tell us a lot."
Arthur clutched his head, feeling very worried about Reva even though he also felt that there seemed no reason for his father to hurt Reva. Her cultivation was rapidly progressing as usual, and it was the main thing that kept his father happy. He himself had seen it.
But then again, he also remembered how pissed and moody his father was after engaging in a battle with Damien and the Forsaken. From that day on, he never saw Reva. He felt that somehow all this was probably connected.
"I-I can't go on like this…I can't let him continue his life as if nothing happened and after committing such evil acts…" Arthur mumbled with a hard cold gaze as his hands firmly gripped the balustrade.
Sven's brows pulled together as he said, "Why do you have to endure when you can take him down yourself?"
Arthur's ears suddenly perked up the moment he heard his words as he bobbed his head around and asked in a confused tone, "Uncle Sven…even if I am the crown prince, I have no power to dethrone him. I don't have much support since everyone fears my father just like I once did. I guess a weakling like me can only endure."
Sven shook his head slowly as he placed his hand on Arthur's shoulder and said, "What if I told you there was a way?"
