Chapter 109
Chapter 109
109 Session
After the class that took place in the museum, the students didn’t have any activities for the rest of the day. They disbanded very quickly with each person going their separate ways.
However, while the majority of them were free from any meeting or class whatsoever, the same couldn’t be said about Raphael and Aliyah.
A second after Raphael stepped out of the museum he received a message via his wristwatch and when he read the messages that were sent his eyebrows furrowed. He glanced at the white-haired woman who was a few meters away.
It was about the same time that Raphael stared at Aliyah that she also had her eyes on him. Both of their eyes came in contact, and it was only after a while that they moved gazes away from one another.
“How are you today, Raphael?”
Raphael and Aliyah were quick to make their way to Edgar’s office and after the both of them sat on the chair, Edgar’s voice rang out.
“I’m good,” Raphael responded.
Edgar nodded his head in response, he then shifted his gaze to the woman who was sitting beside Raphael. “How are you doing too, Aliyah?
“I’m good,” Aliyah replied.
.....
After Aliyah spoke, the atmosphere in the room soon became tense as Edgar didn’t say a word to either of them, instead, he began glaring at the both of them.
Perhaps the first time that Raphael and Aliyah were in the room they found his glaring rather uncomfortable, but after coming to this place several times the both of them had become used to Edgar’s action.
Suddenly, Edgar knitted his brows. He stared at the figure that was sitting beside Raphael and his mouth opened slightly.
“How are you too, Gus?”
There was a nod from Gus when it heard Edgar and after a few more seconds, Edgar shook his head, heaved a deep breath, and said.
“In Our last session, I gave the both of you an assignment, where is it?”
As Raphael took out a paper, Aliyah also did the same. The both of them were about to hand it over to Edgar when the paper suddenly flew towards Edgar.
With a smile then on his face, Edgar scanned through the two papers that were in his hands.
He soon placed the papers on the table that was in the middle of the room and then leaned forward.
Meanwhile, after Edgar buried his head in the paper in front of him, Gus snuggled close to Raphael. It then began to rub its head on Raphael’s body, and when it still didn’t receive any attention from Raphael, it stopped.
Raphael could, of course, tell that Gus was now glaring at him, but he simply acted as though he wasn’t aware of what was going on. His gaze, however, didn’t leave Edgar.
.”Does it want something?” As Edgar lifted his head and saw how Gus was staring at Raphael, he couldn’t help but ask.
And in response Raphael nodded his head, he brought a paper out, and when Gus laid eyes on the paper that had just been brought out, those blue eyes that it had glowed.
Edgar summoned the paper over just like he had done to the two in front of him, and as he saw what was written inside the paper, his eyes twitched, and then his mouth opened slightly.
“Isn’t this the same assignment that I gave you to work on,” Edgar mumbled.
“Yes,” Raphael replied. “But that Gus answers.”
Raphael stared at the owl, who then flapped its wings at him, and he shook his head.
“Hahaha! I guess I have three patients then.” Edgar stated and for some reason, there was a tinge of joy evident in his voice as he spoke.
Edgar soon buried his head back into the papers in front of them, and this time around it was only after a few minutes that he raised his head and stared at Raphael and Aliyah.
He also glanced at Gus, but that was only for a breath’s worth of time.
“I have read all that was written inside this paper and to be honest, I’m very impressed with both of you. But, I still believe there’s more room for improvement.” Edgar said.
“Whether humans or metahumans the state of mind mustn’t be affected. The both of you have experienced quite a lot, but with time we are going to heal those scars and get you back in shape.” Edgar blurted, “And I can assure you that your growth would be like never before.”
When Raphael heard Edgar, he stared at Edgar as though he were some sort of idiot.
“I don’t know about the scars that you’re referring to in my case, but I can’t wait for this to be over,” Raphael said.
Raphael had made it clear from the beginning that he wasn’t much of a fan of the session. But the academy considered it a big deal, and with them addressing him as a project for the future, he had no choice but to attend.
And they even went as far as to bribe him, so he would attend the session.
“I can understand that you’re still in the stage of denial, but after a while, you’d come to accept it that you, Raphael Queen needs help,” Edgar said with complete confidence in his voice.
“You’re not as perfect as you think you are and for you to attain that height that you want to be and the level that the academy also wants you to possess, you’re going to need my help.” Edgar paused.
“We still have three more sessions before the school tournament begins, so before then I will do the best that I can do to ensure that you experience a breakthrough.”
As Edgar spoke, the expression that was on Raphael’s face didn’t change in the slightest, and he continued to stare at him with mockery evident in his eyes.
“I’m also very interested in this breakthrough that you speak of,” Raphael said.
Edgar nodded his head and a smile then appeared on his face.
“These past sessions have made me understand so many things about you Raphael, your childhood, traumas, and fears,” Edgar said and then placed his right leg on the other.
“I have also made my own research about you, and I believe with this I’m certainly going to have a breakthrough with you.” Edgar blurted. “Let’s begin with your family.”
“What about them?” Raphael inquired.
While Raphael had a neutral expression on his face, a smile was on Edgar’s face. He continued to stare at Raphael, and after a while he said.
“I don’t mean just you and your mother, I mean your father’s relatives.”
“So, what about them?”
Even though Raphael had repeated his earlier words, the tone that he used was very different. His expression still didn’t change, but for some reason, the smile that was on Edgar’s face widened.
“I want you to tell me about them,” Edgar said.
There was no response from Raphael after Edgar spoke, he had his eyes on Edgar, but he didn’t say a word. It was only after a few minutes that he replied.
“There’s nothing to tell you about them.”
Edgar seemed to have expected that those were the words that were going to come out of Raphael. “I disagree with that. I believe there are a lot of things to talk about regarding them.”
“So, why don’t you tell me what it’s like with the Queen family,” Edgar said
“You said you have made your research right?” Raphael spoke.
When Edgar heard Raphael, he nodded his head several times and was about to speak, when Raphael abruptly stood from his seat.
“Since you have made your research, then there’s really no need for me to tell you about them anymore.” With that said, and Raphael walked towards the door.
Before Edgar could even respond to Raphael, the door slam rang out. His eyes twitched, and he stared at Aliyah before then shifting his gaze to the owl that was beside her.
“Gus!!!!”
A loud voice suddenly rang out, and followed by that voice was Gus strolling out of the room.
It was evident that Gus was very reluctant to leave the room, as instead of flying out, it jumped to the floor and began walking out of the room. The pace at which it walked with made it even more obvious.
Edgar took a deep breath after Gus left, “He is battling a lot of demons, if only he can give someone the chance to help him.”
“Anyway, Aliyah, I have read the paper you submitted and this is what I think about it.”
...
After Raphael left Edgar’s office, he headed straight to the dormitory, where he put himself into an intensive training drill.
Raphael’s training was always scheduled in the morning as he believed that was the most ideal time, but to get his mind off what happened earlier, he brought his training tools out and began working on it.
“Hmm”
Gus was on the bed with a book in its front, it didn’t even glance at Raphael as this action was already expected.
