Chapter 531: Stall for time
"Well that's really easy, we are not only going to clean your name, but also give your reputation a boost!"
Count Riva Da Sal was totally lost, he had no idea how the guy controlling the puppet would be able to do something like this.
After all his inner city-castle was totally surrounded and blocked, there was no way he would be able to get rid of them, the only way would be to burn them to ashes, but even then, it would still leave a trace.
Just what was this guy thinking?
The puppet didn't seem to be anxious like him though, as he just looked at him and said with a calm and natural voice,
"You have someone able to take down that new guest of yours, right?"
There was no way someone like him would allow a strong and powerful individual to enter his home without having a trick or two up his sleeve.
Normally Count Riva would have negated those words, and try to keep his hand hidden, but right now he didn't quite have the liberties and the opportunities to do something like that.
His life and lineage were on the line so there was no time for him to haggle, as he said,
"Yes, I do!"
"Very well, order him to take that guy down, and let the rest to me! In the meantime, you go and keep that guy outside of your premises until I am done!"
'What if you actually abandon me?'
That was what Count Riva Da Sal was thinking at that moment, but he wasn't able to say it. He had a strange feeling that this puppet wouldn't leave him behind.
Furthermore, even if Boundary Ascension Realm puppets weren't especially rare, they still had a high value.
No one would throw a Boundary Ascension Realm just for fun, not even the King had that kind of luxury, so the guy controlling the puppet must be the same too.
Furthermore, the guy controlling the puppet had gone out of his way to create such an opportunity for himself and even made him his slave, there was no meaning to continue this if it was just a game.
Right now, he was stuck between a rock and a hard place, and this was his only hope of escaping sure death, he had no other choice but to hop on the ragging bull and see where it would take him.
With those thoughts in mind, he just decided to do whatever he could in order to survive. He wasn't ready to die, but death never comes when one wants.
Sighing deeply, he just agreed, and gave the order to his strongest puppet to go and take down his guest, as he went outside to do his best in stalling those guys out there!
He wasn't able to understand when the puppet that was close to him had disappeared, taking away even the woman that was naked on his bed.
It was like both of them had disappeared into the night, leaving only a faint trace of their existence there a moment ago.
Resolving himself, and his heart a little a bit, he immediately put on some clothes, and then got out of his room, where his retainers were running towards his room.
Not only his retainers actually, there were also a few retainers from his guest side, that were clearly unhappy with this situation.
His guest hadn't personally come to ask him about the situation, which made him resolve to rely on his new 'Master' even stronger.
Without even hearing their barking he immediately used a few of his guard puppets to kill them with one blow, surprising his retainers.
A few of them weren't able to understand this action of his as they immediately asked,
"My lord you!?"
But before they could even continue saying anything else, the puppets moved once again taking their heads this time, and killing them.
The truth was that he already knew that there were quite a few of his retainers that had been bought from those alien humans to try and keep him in check.
He had pretended to be blind until now in order to let them think that they had the upper hand, but since now he would have to cut all ties with them, he didn't need to keep them alive anymore.
When a loyal retainer betrays the first time, then there is a high probability that he will make the same thing again. Not only that but it could even try to rot away the good retainers beside him.
It was the same as leaving a rotten apple in a basked, or a plate of other good apples, slowly the rotten apple would get even more rotten, and even spoil the others.
The best treatment against it was to completely remove the rotten apple from there, and that was what he was doing right now.
His other retainers didn't seem to care much about the scene in front of them, as they already seemed to understand what was going on.
It was only one of them that said with a calm, and natural expression,
"My Lord, does this mean we are finally cutting ties with those alien scum? Should I go there and personally take care of them?"
This guy clearly hated those alien humans for some reason, and one could see that he was extremely happy at the moment. He was one of Count Riva's most trusted retainers.
"There will be no need about that, there is someone dealing with them already! What we need to do is stall those guys at the gate!"
That guy didn't seem to quite understand what Count Riva said, but he didn't continue asking, as he just followed behind him. His lord had clearly thought this through.
The other retainers, immediately started to explain him the situation out there, as he walked his way calmly through the hallway, and then towards the outside of his castle.
It was a big help that the guy who was leading the besiege was his most hated enemy, as he seemed to be taking his sweet time to enjoy this happening.
He was screaming outside his inner city-castle at the top of his lungs, but he wasn't actually taking any real action towards attacking his stronghold.
More than attacking him, and actually dealing damage that guy wanted first to destroy his name, reputation, and identity.
No matter how strong, or how fast someone's brain works, their character will always show up, and this guy was an extremely narrow-minded fu*cker, not that he could complain about it now.
Since he needed to stall him for some time, then this was a great help that he could have only prayed to get.
At least that would make his stalling job easier, and he would be able to gain some time for that puppet to do whatever it was planning to do.
Getting outside, he was immediately faced with the powerful formation of thousands of puppet soldiers, and powerhouses surrounding his place completely from all sides.
There was another big reason why these guys had yet to truly attack his inner castle, and that was because the inner barrier was activated.
While the outer barrier was what had cost him the most due to the large area it covered, the inner barrier was even stronger, and sturdier than that one.
It was his last line of defence so it would clearly be stronger than the one in the outside. Furthermore, all the soldiers or retainers in the inner castle were death loyal.
Even though none of them would accept it, and he wouldn't profess it, these guys loyalty lied with him and not with the King.
This fact alone showed that Count Riva wasn't just a greedy man, but a smart greedy man that knew to back up his greed with hard work.
If he wasn't the one who was being surrounded, and charged of treason then this whole thing would have been a great show to watch unfold, but the reality was quite different.
Still, in all this scene he was able to almost immediately notice his hated enemy, that sly skinny snake with his sharp moustache and that ugly face that would make every kid terrified.
Viscount Karne Da Vas!
Since he was able to notice him amongst all those puppet soldiers and experts, Viscount Karne was in a better position, and noticed him even faster.
In fact, the moment he saw Count Riva finally appear, his gloating face seemed to have received a boost, as he looked like someone who was having the climax of his life.
How could he not, he was taking down his life-long hated enemy. Not only that but he was also about to destroy their whole lineage, something that his ancestors had tried for so long.
But looking at Count Riva's composed face, he had a bad feeling about this. Even without going further he felt like he had failed.
There was clear worry on Count Riva's face, but he was still able to control himself and put a composed front.
Not only that, but he intentionally completely ignored Viscount Karne, as he looked towards the representative from the Palace, and said,
"May I know what all this is about!?"
How could someone like Viscout Karne allow Count Riva to completely ignore him, and especially when he looked that composed, as he screamed at him,
"Count Riva Da Sal, we have doubts that you have been complotting with those damn alien humans, and betraying our majestic Kingdom, our prideful Race, and our Home.
For that reason, we have a decree from his Majesty, the King to search through your territory, and sent you to the Palace for your judgement!
Now lower the barrier and let us pass!"
