Chapter 28: Sorting Hat

Chapter 28: Sorting Hat

At this time, it was not only Coven and Penelope who were talking in low voices. The freshmen who knew or did not know were all nervously and expectantly discussing the matters of the school.

At this time, Professor McGonagall took off the metal chain pocket watch hanging on her robe. She opened it and looked at the time. Then she put away the pocket watch and looked around at the group of new students.

After all the whispers disappeared, Professor McGonagall said seriously, "Well, now you follow me to the hall and start the branch."

Professor McGonagall turned to lead the way. As the wooden door slowly opened, Professor McGonagall entered the door first.

A group of new students entered the door with uneasy emotions. They welcomed the light coming from the wooden door and entered.

Inside the door was a vast rectangular hall with four wooden tables nearly forty meters long. Both sides of each table were filled with students.

There were a lot of white candles floating in the air in the hall, and there were many huge braziers on the pillars of the Chengzhong walls on both sides, making the entire hall very bright.

The group of new students followed Professor McGonagall through the long dining table, feeling the scrutiny coming from all directions and listening to the endless sounds of discussion. Many new students were so nervous that they turned around, and even Penelope was stiff all over.

Soon, they all reached the end of the auditorium and faced the professor's dining table in front of them. All the new students stood in front of the stage.

Professor McGonagall walked up the steps of the stage, turned around, and commanded the new students to stand in a horizontal position, and then said, "Before the sorting ceremony begins, our headmaster, Professor Dumbledore, wants to say a few words to everyone."

As Professor McGonagall spoke, an old man with a snow-white beard that reached his abdomen and half-moon gold-rimmed glasses stood up.

A freshman behind Coven couldn't help but whisper excitedly, "That's Professor Dumbledore! He is in the card..."

"Ahem!" Professor McGonagall made a sound, causing the freshman to shut up instantly.

"Welcome, welcome." At this time, Dumbledore opened his mouth, his voice loud and clear, and slowly said, "I have a few things to take note of at school to announce."

"The first-year students should be careful. The school forbids any students from entering the Dark Forest. That is a forbidden forest."

"The first year students are not allowed to use flying brooms alone. The boys are not allowed to enter the girls' dormitory and are not allowed to use magic in the corridor."

Professor Dumbledore nodded and slowly sat down.

"Thank you for your words, Professor Dumbledore," Professor McGonagall said. She took out a white scroll from her sleeve. After opening it, she said, "Next, we will start the sorting. The students whose names have been called come forward and sit on the chairs."

Professor McGonagall picked up the wizard hat on the chair with her other hand and pinched the tip of the 'brown' hat. "I will put the Sorting Hat on your heads. The Sorting Hat will decide which school you will be assigned to. Next, listen up... James Palmston."

Among the freshmen, Coven had seen Little James walk out of the crowd and walk up the steps of the ceremony stage with excitement and apprehension. He turned and sat on the chair.

Professor McGonagall slowly put the Sorting Hat on the head of Little James

The next moment, the Sorting Hat suddenly "lived". The wrinkles on the hat formed the shape of a pair of eyes and mouth. The wrinkles on the mouth began to twist, and the voice was loud and clear. "SLYTHERIN -"

Cheers and applause sounded from the long table of the students. The seniors of the Slytherin House greeted Little James in their respective positions.

After Little James walked to the table and sat down, Professor McGonagall continued to call out names to Sorting Hat.

The new students went up nervously, and among the cheers of the older students from different houses, they went to the tables of their respective academies to sit down.

Not long after, Professor McGonagall pointed to Penelope's name

Penelope turned to look at Coven nervously. Then, under Coven's encouraging gaze, she took a deep breath and walked out of the crowd of freshmen.

After sitting on the podium, Professor McGonagall put the Sorting Hat on Penelope's head. Soon, the loud voice of the Sorting Hat rang out. "RAVENCLAW -"

Penelope's eyes lit up. He stood up under the cheers of the long table at Ravenclaw Academy. After looking at Coven, she walked to the long table with a smile on her face.

After a few more students went up, Professor McGonagall looked at the name list in her hand. She paused for a moment and looked at Coven in the crowd. She called out, "Coven Quinn."

A burst of noise and whispers suddenly sounded in the entire hall. Coven, who was walking forward, was a little stunned. However, he did not care about that much. He did not stop walking and sat on the chair.

Professor McGonagall dropped the hat and placed it on top of Coven's head.

When Coven was ready to put the hat on his own branch, a low voice suddenly sounded in his mind

'Well... this one is quite hard.'

'What?' Coven subconsciously responded in his mind.

'Your sorting is very challenging for me.' The voice sounded again in Coven's mind.

'You are the Sorting Hat?' Coven suddenly understood and continued to respond in his mind.

'Yes, it's me..'

'Alright, then which academy should I go to?' Coven asked.

'Hmm' The Sorting Hat muttered, then muttered, 'Ambitious, loyal, knowledgeable, brave and powerful... You are simply suitable for all the houses.'

'Then what should I choose?' Coven's heart sank. He tried his best to clear up all kinds of distracting thoughts and responded in his mind.

'Oh, you don't have to be so wary of me.' The Sorting Hat did not respond. Instead, it noticed the change in Coven and explained, 'I can only read your characteristics. I can't read your memories.'

Hearing this, Coven relaxed.

'Alright, let's continue to talk about your sorting.' The voice of the Sorting Hat continued, 'In the past, I have also seen students like you who are suitable for all the academies. However, they still have the most outstanding characteristic. But you are different. Your four characteristics have almost reached the limit of my detection.'

'So, you can only choose the schools you want to go to.'

'Then can you introduce the four houses?' Coven relaxed and asked, 'For example, the location, and convenience.'

'Yes, I also like people to talk to me more.' Hat said happily, 'In terms of location, Slytherin and Hufflepuff are underground, and the other two are upstairs.'

'If it's convenient, Hufflepuff is next to the kitchen, Slytherin is close to the classroom, Ravenclaw is close to the library, Gryffindor's dormitory is in the tower, the scenery is the best, and the view is wide.'

Hearing this, Coven began to ponder...
