Chapter 786: Your Hands Are Injured, Let Me Apply Some Ointment for You
“Let’s see if you’d dare to do it again after this.”
Xie Xuning examined the guy’s broken leg, and it did not seem too serious. He squatted down and secured the guy to his back.
He planned to climb up along the rescue rope with the guy on his back.
“Get out of the way.”
Gripping the rescue rope, Xie Xuning gradually climbed up the cliff with much difficulty.
Those who stood above broke into a sweat watching Xie Xuning climb up the cliff. Nobody was sure if he would make it back safely.
The weather was cold, and the route was slippery. It was challenging enough for someone to climb up along the rope alone.
To make matters worse, Xie Xuning was carrying an injured guy on his back.
“Be careful.”
Xie Yi stood aside while watching Xie Xuning climb with a worried look.
When Xie Xuning was about to reach the top, everyone reached out and pulled him to safety.
Xie Yi noticed that Xie Xuning’s hands were bleeding due to rope burn.
Everyone hastily helped the injured mountaineer down from Xie Xuning’s back. Xie Yi squatted down and touched his broken leg.
After examining for a while, she said, “One of the bones is cracked.”
The other team members asked, “Then what should we do?”
Xie Yi coldly said, “What can we do now? We can only return to the temple first. You’re not kids anymore. Don’t you know how dangerous it is to go down the mountain in such extreme weather? Forget about it if his leg can’t be cured. Isn’t it better to live with a broken leg than dying here?”
Xie Yi said exactly what the monks that were part of the rescue team were thinking.
The mountaineering team was warned about the danger of descending the mountain. Blinded by confidence, they chose to go down the mountain in the snowy weather regardless only to end up trapped under the cliff.
Out of the kindness of their hearts, they formed a temporary rescue team and came to their aid. They were not the tiniest bit grateful but said that they did not beg for their help instead.
“How could you say something like that? My leg’s already broken. Don’t you have any sympathy?”
The injured mountaineer genuinely thought that he would have to live with a broken leg for the rest of his life. He broke into a sweat and looked at Xie Yi anxiously.
Xie Yi was not as good-tempered as Xie Xuning. “You reap what you sow. Why didn’t you listen to the monks’ advice in the first place? That’s enough, lift him up the mountain.”
The members of the mountaineering team were weak and exhausted. They couldn’t lift the injured.
Obviously, it was impossible for the injured mountaineer to walk with a broken leg.
“We’ll lift him.”
Two monks used the rescue rope to build a makeshift stretcher.
The sky was getting dark, and they had to lift the inured mountaineer while going up a steep hill. Everyone walked extremely slowly.
Xie Xuning and Xie Yi walked behind the line. Xie Yi said, “Your hands are injured. Let me apply some ointment for you.”
“I’m fine.”
It was only a minor injury on his hand, so it did not matter much to him. Instead, the pain in his thigh was much more intense.
He gritted his teeth and endured the pain. He could not afford to slow down the team’s journey back to the temple.
The sky was getting increasingly darker.
The monks had to turn on the flashlights on their helmets.
A blizzard was forming again not long after the snowstorm stopped.
Xie Xuning could not help but glance worriedly at the other members of the rescue team.
“Are you still doing okay?”
Xie Xuning took over the first aid box that Xie Yi had been carrying on her shoulders. At first, there were enough helpers to carry the things when they were descending the mountain.
Now that the team lacked manpower, Xie Yi carried the first aid kit herself when they were returning.
Although Xie Yi’s stamina was good, it was not easy for her to climb such a steep mountain trail.
“I’m a bit tired, but it’s okay. I can manage.”
