Chapter 83: Grandma’s Surgery (2)
After instructing Ye Tianxin on some matters, Grandmother handed over a bunch of keys to her.
“Tianxin, both Du Juan and Li Qingcang are good people. If we haven’t met them, we would have had a hard time in the capital. Tianxin, you have to repay them for their kindness in the future when you have the chance to.”
Grandmother had always thought that she was not afraid of death.
However, when it was time for her surgery, she felt that she still hadn’t lived long enough.
She did not want to die.
She wanted to live some more.
Perhaps, one day, her daughter would return.
She did not want to die.
She thought of how one day, if her daughter were to return, her daughter would not be able to see her.
Instead, she would see a grave.
How sad would her daughter be then?
“Grandmother, I got it. I will repay Mother Du Juan and Elder Brother Li for their kindness in the future. I am not a child anymore. I can take care of myself. You will be fine, too. The doctor said that while the surgery is risky, there is a high possibility that it will be successful. So, Grandmother, don’t worry. Everything will be fine.”
Grandmother smiled and did not say anything. She was glad that her granddaughter was so sensible.
“Go to sleep, Tianxin.”
Grandma turned her back to Ye Tianxin and went to sleep. A sad expression filled her face, hidden from Ye Tianxin.
Tianxin was still so young, she could not bear to die and leave her all alone.
Ye Tianxin turned around as well to look at the moon through the window.
The night sky was especially clear tonight with only the moon in it.
Ye Tianxin thought about many things for a long while before she fell asleep.
She felt as if she had only just fallen asleep when a nurse woke her up.
She opened her eyes and looked at the nurse.
“Miss Ye, we are going to bring the patient to the operation room.”
Ye Tianxin got out of bed hurriedly and rubbed her face. She looked at her grandmother who had already been dressed by the nurse.
“Grandmother, it will be alright.”
The surgery was set to be held at 10, but it did not mean that Grandma would only enter the operation room at that time.
Grandmother had to be prepared before the operation, such as administering anaesthesia and so on.
The chief surgeon was the top doctor in the country.
He was very busy, and every second was important to him.
When Grandma was about to enter the operation room, she held Ye Tianxin’s hand once more and gently squeezed it.
“Tianxin, do you remember everything I told you yesterday?”
Ye Tianxin repeated what her grandmother had told her.
“Grandma, I remember everything. Don’t worry. We’ll be waiting for you outside.”
Given that Grandma was having her surgery today, both Li Qingcang and Du Juan came to keep Ye Tianxin company.
Ye Tianxin sat down on the long bench in the corridor. She appeared to be calm and composed, but she kept praying.
“Buddha, gods, deities, and Guanyin, please protect my grandmother and let her surgery be successful,” Ye Tianxin murmured to herself.
Grandmother’s surgery was scheduled to take five hours.
These five hours felt like years to Ye Tianxin. Every minute and every second felt like an eternity.
Du Juan wrapped her arm around Ye Tianxin’s shoulder. She did not say a word but allowed Ye Tianxin to lean on her.
“Are you the patient’s family?”
The door to the operation room opened. A nurse emerged from the brightly lit room.
“I am. I am the patient’s family.”
The nurse looked at Ye Tianxin and said softly, “The operation was a success, and we are already preparing to move the patient back to the intensive care unit. Don’t worry. You’ll see her in no time. The patient can be transferred to a regular room once she wakes up.”
Ye Tianxin cried tears of joy when she heard the good news.
She held Li Qingcang’s hand excitedly, tears of delight running down her beautiful face.
“Elder Brother Li, did you hear that? Grandma’s surgery was a success!”
