Chapter 188 A Trap

Confession, reduction of sentence?

She was too cheap.

“Claudia!” Rosalie exclaimed, widening her eyes in surprise. “What are you doing here?”

Claudia sneered, “Narrow is the path of enemies.”

Rosalie widened her eyes and looked at Roger, stammering, “Mr. Rowe… are you intentionally setting a trap for me to fall into?”

Roger asked her to be honest and tell the truth, but he had Claudia listen in on the side.

As soon as Rosalie realized that everything she said had been heard by her, she felt like all her clothes had been stripped off, leaving her completely exposed and utterly embarrassed.

Roger didn’t expect Claudia to come out. He clenched his fist and coughed under his breath, “Better late than never… I didn’t expect her to rush out either.”

Rosalie became angrier and angrier as she listened, trembling with anger. “Mr. Rowe, I never expected you to be this kind of person!”

“That’s because you don’t know me well enough. I’ve always been like this,” Roger shrugged, with a face that showed no fear, just like a dead pig in boiling water.

Rosalie’s face turned pale and then green. She stared coldly at Claudia and said, “Since that’s the case, let’s meet in court! Dream on if you

think I’ll surrender! I would rather die than surrender!”

As the words fell, she walked to the door and saw the gift she had brought. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. She had wanted to kick over the wine bottle, but considering her financial constraints, she reluctantly picked up the gift.

“Mr. Rowe, since you refused to defend me, I will take these bottles of wine away, including the one you just drank. Don’t forget to return it to me or reimburse me.”

With a chuckle, Claudia couldn’t help but laugh out loud, “The first time I’ve seen someone give a gift and ask for it back, Ms. Clayton, are you really that poor? And to ask for cash, it’s truly hilarious.”

Rosalie’s face turned pale.

Claudia said to Roger, “Mr. Zhou, I don’t know if you like to drink. I came empty–handed this time, I hope you won’t be angry.”

Roger waved his hand and chuckled, “Of course not, I detest the whole gift–giving routine. They think they know manners, when others have no idea what’s really on their mind.”

“The person who gives gifts, is simply hoping that you will do things for them. If things are not done well, they will turn their back on you just like you.”

“Oh, by the way, Ms. Clayton, I also have the bottle of wine we just drank here in my collection,” Roger said as he opened the cabinet next to the shoe rack, revealing a whole wall of wine.

He took out a bottle of wine and stuffed it into Rosalie’s arms: “Same brand, absolutely no fake, no need for cash, I am poor, if you want wine, it’s fine, if you want money, I don’t have any!”

Rosalie held the bottle of wine and lowered her head in shame and

anger.

Unable to bear the ridicule any longer, she picked up her things and walked out, slamming the door shut with a loud “bang“.

Roger turned around and looked at Claudia, smiling lightly, “Ms. Lloyd, shall we have a good chat?”

Claudia nodded.

“Mr. Zhou, why didn’t you act as Rosalie’s defense attorney? Didn’t Edmond ask you to help Rosalie?”

Roger shook his head and said, “He didn’t ask me for help the first time he approached me, and I wouldn’t defend someone like Rosalie either. Mr. Lamont came to me to inquire about cases like Rosalie’s and how many years they usually get sentenced.”

“These materials were all given to me by him, saying that one day Rosalie would come to me and he wanted me to persuade her. Perhaps my words could make Rosalie change, but it’s a pity for his efforts. This Rosalie has already become rotten to the core. By the way, how could Ms. Lloyd think that he would help Rosalie?”

Roger looked at her meaningfully, “You have been living with him for several years, you should know his character, he would not assist in doing evil.”

Claudia’s heart trembled slightly, as it turned out that Edmond was not looking for Roger to defend Rosalie

She misunderstood.

“Thank you, Mr. Rowe,” Claudia stood up, feeling a bit down as she thought about Edmond’s passing.

Roger waved his hand and smiled kindly, “Ms. Lloyd, you don’t have a

lawyer yet, do you? If you need one, I can defend you.”

Claudia was surprised.

She didn’t expect Roger to take the initiative to be her lawyer.

“The lawyer fees have already been paid by Mr. Lamont,” he said as he walked to the cabinet and handed her a contract. “Mr. Lamont is quite willing to spend such a high amount on lawyer fees. He said that if Rosalie continues to be stubborn and refuses to surrender, he will have me fight this case on your behalf, claiming that you are helpless and have no money. The money has been paid in advance.”

Alone and helpless…

Claudia pursed her lips and felt her nose blocked.

If Edmond continued to protect Rosalie, she might not have been upset.

But now that he is already dead, leaving behind these warm memories only makes her feel uncomfortable.

Derrick stood beside without saying a word. He glanced at Claudia, intending to say that he could also handle this lawsuit, but his lips moved, and he still didn’t speak.

If she really wanted him to help, she would have spoken up earlier.

Moreover, compared to Roger, he is a junior and has to step aside.

After thinking for a while, I ultimately just stood on the side and didn’t say anything.

Claudia looked at the contract that Roger had given her, and then looked at the terms inside. Her eyes turned red, and even redder. At the signature line, the words “Edmond” were written in a flamboyant

manner, indicating a free–spirited nature.

Originally, he had already arranged a lawyer for her.

If Rosalie knew about this, she would probably be furious.

Looking at Roger’s sincere face, Claudia smiled and said, “Then I’ll trouble you, Mr. Zhou. I not only want Rosalie to confess, but I also want her to be sentenced to death.”

Grandma had already investigated the matter. If it wasn’t intentional murder and there were no witnesses or evidence, it would be difficult to make Rosalie pay with her life.

She indulged Rosalie step by step in continuing to do bad things, hoping that one day she would be held accountable for her actions.

Doing one bad thing can be escaped, but what if many bad things are added together? What she wants is not just for Rosalie to confess, but she also doesn’t hope for her to surrender for a reduced sentence.

She wanted Rosalie to pay for her grandmother’s life!
