Chapter 159 Both Arrived To Rescue Nancy

“Nancy!” Christian shouted and immediately rushed over, with Dylan closely following behind.

Upon seeing the arrival of help, the group of men hesitated briefly but maintained their audacious attitude. One of them taunted, “Who are you? I advise you not to meddle; this isn’t the time for you to play hero.”

“Dylan,” Christian called out and gave him a meaningful look to convey his intentions.

“Yes, Boss. You can trust me.”

In just a few minutes, all of the men were sprawled on the ground.

Nancy remained huddled in her previous spot, paralyzed by fear, clutching herself like a helpless, frightened rabbit. Her vulnerability tugged at the heartstrings of those who witnessed her distress.

As Christian looked at her, a sharp pang pierced his heart. Nancy was trembling, tears streaming down her face as she continued to cower. Determined to comfort her, he approached and extended a hand to help her up.

Suddenly, she trembled violently, desperately attempting to retreat. Her eyes remained shut, overwhelmed by paralyzing fear.

He swiftly understood her reaction-she had undoubtedly been traumatized by the recent events. With great sensitivity, he kneeled down and began to speak gently, “Nancy, open your eyes and look. I am Christian. Those men are gone. I’m here to rescue you.”

Christian? Is it him? But how could he be here? Nancy pondered, disbelief etched across her face.

Sensing her hesitation, Christian continued his earnest explanation, “It’s me, Christian. But don’t just take my word for it; open your eyes.”

She cautiously opened her eyes, starting with a narrow slit. As she confirmed the person in front of her, her eyes widened. In no time, they were wide open, their clarity resembling freshly lifted jewels from the water.

Christian, noticing her silence, became concerned and called out, “Nancy…”

Just as he had uttered her name, tears welled up in Nancy’s eyes without warning. cascading down her cheeks one after the other, Boohoo,” she cried out in a mix of relief and fear, her sobs loud and unrestrained. “I’m so scared. I’m scared to death. You finally came to save me.” She reached out and embraced Christian, burying herself in his arms,

her small hands clinging to him as if afraid he might disappear. “They were so scary. I was so scared. Thank you for coming to rescue me! Christian, thank you. Why does it seem. like I always run into you when I’m in trouble? Did I save you in a past life or something?” Her emotions surged, and crying became a cathartic release for her fear and the haunting. images of the recent encounter.

“Okay. Don’t think about it anymore. I’ll take you back,” Christian reassured her, lifting her

to her feet.

“Okay.”

However, just as they were about to leave together, Nicholas’ figure suddenly appeared before them, his eyes blazing with anger. He clenched his fists, his fury so intense that he yearned to deliver a punch

to Christian’s face. Inwardly, he couldn’t help but think, What a pleasant surprise! Is this the reason she refused Grandpa’s bracelet?

“So, this is why you came to the bar and messaged me. You wanted me to come here in person to watch?” Nicholas’ words hissed through clenched teeth, brimming with immense anger. Half an hour ago, he had received a WhatsApp message from Nancy, a brief sentence: “I’m at… the bar.” At the time, he was in a meeting, so he had the voice message transcribed to text. It left him puzzled, but a lingering doubt gnawed at his heart. So, he decided to play the voice message to listen.

As he discovered that she had sent the message while intoxicated, he became extremely worried. He feared for her safety and how she would get back home. Without waiting for the meeting to begin, he drove straight to the bar.

Unexpectedly, Nicholas witnessed Christian holding Nancy in his arms, and he quickly surmised that this must have been her intention behind the message she had sent.

“Nancy, how could you?” Nicholas stared at her with eyes burning like fire, his words. dripping with anger. What he didn’t want to admit even more was the intense jealousy and envy that had consumed him at that moment. He was almost driven to madness. Without uttering a word, he went straight to Nancy and forcibly separated her from Christian’s grasp.

“No. I don’t…”

“Nicholas, let go of me. Let go…” Nancy didn’t want to go back with him. She resisted vehemently and had no desire to see him at that moment. She was also puzzled about how he had arrived there, thinking, Wasn’t he on a plane on his way to find Madelline? Why did he come here after leaving? “Let me go.”

Nicholas didn’t heed her plea and carried her away despite her resistance.

As the two figures vanished into the noisy crowd, Dylan hesitantly voiced his concern,

“Boss, why? You were the one who saved her first. Why does he get to take her away?”

Christian, feeling a bitter taste in his heart, questioned himself, Why? Because Nicholas is her husband, and I am just a regular friend. Perhaps this is the only reason. He reassured Dylan, “You’ll understand in the future.”

After placing Nancy in the passenger seat, Nicholas took the driver’s seat. He ensured the car was securely locked to prevent any chance of her escape.

In her current state, escape was beyond her capabilities. She had managed to sober up momentarily due to fear. As the car began to move and the silence of the journey. enveloped her, the influence of alcohol returned, and she started feeling woozy again.

When they arrived home, Nancy was still intoxicated, but one thing remained unchanged -her resistance to Nicholas getting too close.

On the way, Nicholas received a call from Lynn, who provided a detailed account of Nancy’s ordeal at the bar. Learning that she had been surrounded by several men, Nicholas felt an overwhelming urge to protect her. He immediately instructed Lynn to deal with those men thoroughly.

Lynn responded, “The police have already been called, and those men are currently in custody.”

“In that case, make sure they face the harshest penalties possible,” Nicholas demanded angrily.

He carried Nancy back home, and as he detected the unmistakable scent of alcohol on her, he decided to place her in the bathtub and turned on the hot water. His anger welled up as he thought about her

going to a bar alone to drink and almost encountering danger. “Nancy, have you ever thought about what would happen if you were in danger?”

Nancy, still inebriated, seemed drowsy as she listened to him reprimanding her. Abruptly, she emerged from the bathtub, her chin perched on the edge as she blinked with a pitiful expression and uttered, “Danger? However, to me…” Chuckling in her intoxicated state, she gestured towards Nicholas with her delicate, pale fingers and continued, “You are my greatest peril. Are you not aware?”
