Chapter 215 Misunderstanding Resolved

Nancy nodded in agreement. “Uh-huh.”

Nicholas gently held her hand. “Nancy, I want to be completely honest with you and not keep any. secrets. That was indeed a woman’s voice, but we were at the hospital, not at home. I was injured, and she saved me. She didn’t have any family around, and I felt grateful for her help. So, I stayed at the hospital for two more days until she had mostly recovered before leaving.”

His explanation was sincere and detailed. The only thing he kept from Nancy was the woman’s name, ‘Madelline’.

It was at this moment that Nancy looked at him, and tears started streaming down her cheeks.

Seeing her cry, Nicholas became flustered. He reached out and gently wiped her tears away with his fingertips. “Why are you crying? Did I explain something poorly?”

“No,” she shook her head. “You explained everything very well. But why didn’t you tell me about it on the phone? Do you know how heartbroken I was when I heard a woman’s voice in your room? My heart shattered, and I couldn’t sleep well all night. I couldn’t stop thinking about you and her. My mind was. filled with wild thoughts,” she spoke, tears still welling up in her eyes. She vividly remembered the loneliness and fear she felt while huddled under the blanket.

“Don’t cry, Nancy. Please don’t cry, Nicholas’s heart broke seeing her in tears. He lowered his head and gently kissed away the tears on her face.

He was so tender and caring: how could he possibly be involved with another woman? In that moment, Nancy found peace in her heart. She smiled and let out a light laugh.

Seeing her smile, Nicholas felt a sense of relief. However, he also felt devastated when he thought about that day. “Nancy…” He reached out and cradled her face, speaking earnestly, “Do you know why I didn’t explain over the phone?”

“Hmm?”

He lowered his head, and his nose lightly touched hers as he spoke in a soft, endearing voice, “Because I was waiting. I wanted to hear you ask me. I wanted to know that you cared and were concerned about me. So, I waited. But in the end, the call got disconnected, and I never heard your question.

“Silly girl, did you know? I really wished you had boldly asked me, ‘Nicholas Sallow, why is there a woman’s voice in your room in the middle of the night?’ I would have explained myself. At least, it would have shown that you love and care about me.

“But you didn’t, so I thought you didn’t care.”

As he said these words, Nicholas felt a significant weight lifted from his heart. After falling in love with her, his thoughts became both simple and complex.

Upon hearing his words, Nancy reached out to him. She couldn’t resist any longer and tightly wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing her whole body against him. “Silly Nick, you’re the silly one. I love and care about you so much, how could I not care? You’re the silly one. A silly goose.”

“Alright, I’m the silly goose, and you’re the cutie pie.” He grabbed her hand and brought it to his lips, giving it a gentle kiss.

Seeing her soft, rosy lips again and remembering their unfinished kiss, he immediately captured the back of her head. “Nancy…” he whispered as he looked at her.

“Hmm?” She blinked, looking at him in confusion.

“I want to kiss you. Is that okay?” When he earnestly sought her opinion, his gaze was tender.

Nancy blushed slightly. This time, she wasn’t shy and didn’t hesitate. “No, you can’t,” she suddenly replied.

Nicholas’s expression froze for a moment. He felt a bit hurt. However, in the next moment, her soft hands hooked around his neck, gently pulling his head down. And then, her soft lips covered his without any warning.

In an instant, his mind went completely blank. It took him a moment to react, and as excitement washed over him, his chest heaved like the waves of a rough sea.

So, this is what she meant by ‘No, you can’t.’ She wanted to kiss him first. She wanted to initiate it.

“That’s what it meant, right? I didn’t misunderstand, did I?” Nicholas felt as though his heart had been coated with honey. His Nancy always managed to surprise him.

Her kiss was a bit awkward and inexperienced, but he wasn’t concerned about any of that. His mind was filled with only one thought. Nancy kissed me. She initiated the kiss.

However, just as Nicholas was getting lost in his excitement, she suddenly pulled away from him. “What’s wrong?” he asked.

Nancy looked at him with uncertainty, like a timid rabbit. “I…I have very little experience. It seems like I’m not as good at kissing as you.”

It wasn’t just that she had little experience; in fact, all of her experience was with him alone. After saying that, her face turned as red as a tomato. She couldn’t believe she had been bold enough to say something so embarrassing!

“Nancy Cohen, you’re embarrassing yourself!” she scolded herself internally.

Nicholas, on the other hand, wore a slow smile. His lips curled, and a seductive expression appeared on his handsome face, clearly indicating he was in an excellent mood. “In that case, let me teach you.”

With those words, he cupped her head and kissed her forcefully. The temperature in the ward continued to rise.

Nancy held onto his clothes with both hands, tilting her head back. She stopped thinking altogether as she followed his lead, allowing herself to sink deeper and deeper. After the kiss, she leaned against his chest and softly caught her breath.

In contrast, Nicholas remained composed. More importantly, he deliberately whispered into her car, “Do it a few more times, and you won’t get tired”

The temperature on her face rose even further. It wasn’t until her breathing steadied and she left his embrace that she realized an important issue. “Where’s your injury? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Remember those two days when we lost contact? I was recovering in the hospital.”

Upon hearing this, she immediately became anxious. “Nick, why didn’t you tell me you were injured? Don’t you know that I would worry?”

“I was afraid you would, which is why I couldn’t bring myself to tell you.” He held her hand, his expression filled with concern.

“But you worried me even more when you kept it a secret. I thought something terrible had happened to you when you didn’t answer my calls for an entire day. Do you know how scared I was? I must warn you that no matter what happens in the future, you are not allowed to keep things from me. If I find out, I won’t be able to forgive you.”

“Okay, I promise.”

As Nicholas looked into her eyes, he lowered his gaze, appearing downcast. “I’m sorry, Nancy. Please forgive me for not telling you her name. I was too weak. I couldn’t help but be afraid. Please forgive me for not having the courage to tell you.”

She was still shaken, and it took her a while to gather her thoughts. Eventually, she reached out to unbutton his clothes. “Where were you injured? Have you fully recovered? Let me take a look.”
