Chapter 220 - Broken Will
Chapter 220 - Broken Will
"So, you need to remember. There is nothing wrong with big or small. It is the feelings that matter!" Verona claimed with a flustered face.
Had someone told her before coming here that she would be giving Klautz education on such a subject, she would have never agreed to it. She could only bite down her embarrassment as she explained to him. For the past half an hour that was what she did.
'I must do this or else Klautz would leave me with no face in front of everybody.'
She felt that it was her duty to explain it to him as his lover, to avoid any forms of embarrassment in the future. Klautz's kinks were nothing but shameful. She didn't mind if Klautz made such claims in private but she doesn't want to become the limelight in public.
When Klautz said that he prefers 'women with robust breasts' it was clear as day who he was pointing to and what he meant.
'He is really insensitive.'
Had it been a guy instead of Evelyn, Verona would have probably run off in embarrassment.
But alas! Even during her lecture, Klautz said nothing. For all he did was nod in replies. His ears had turned deaf for some reason. He was a faithful member of his faction and he knew where his priority lies.
Verona could only roll his eyes every time Klautz tried to change the topic.
'You think it is comfortable for me to discuss all of this with you? And that also in her presence!' she thought.
It was then…
"Cold…"
"Cold…"
Verona turned around to the faint whispers of the entrapped girl.
The night was silent except for the whistlings of the cold northern winds and Evelyn's shuddering whispers. Verona could clearly hear her voice. The hollowness of the cave also aided in reverberating it.
Evelyn had wrapped herself up with her arms as she had nothing else to cover her body. Her inventory being inaccessible she could only curse her ability for not being able to transport her clothes and weapons along with her.
With the chilly windy blowing and her body being uncovered, she could only shiver in the nightly breeze. Klautz and Verona had a cave-like roof above their heads, a fire burning close to them, and warm clothes to adorn themselves. Not to mention that they basked in the warmth of each other. But Evelyn had none.
'Ah, she must be feeling cold.'
Verona took out a piece of her warm cloth from her inventory. But Klautz held onto her wrist as he shook his head in denial.
"Don't do this Verona. Remember how many innocents she has killed," Klautz continued. "Not to mention that you can't break down the barrier at all."
Klautz stared into her eyes to better pass on his intentions causing Verona to bite her lips as she took another glance at the poor girl shuddering in cold.
Klautz didn't believe that all of the targets that the girl had killed were innocent. After all, it was impossible to find innocent people in hell. Even the kind and compassionate Verona had killed her spouse for good.
'But this is the best way to pacify her.'
Klautz hadn't come to the [Ice Post] out of the bloom just because it had fewer visitors. He had very much predicted the current outcome. Due to the nature of the ability and the barrier the blocked any entry, this was the best way to break her will.
The temperature was far below 0 degrees celsius.
'If she refuses to reveal anything, her organs would freeze up. But she would possibly die far before that.' Klautz thought.
It was not the kind of death one would like to have. But this place was fated to become her grave irrespective of whether she relays information to Klautz or not. For if she does reveal everything she would die to Klautz blade anyway.
'Now, all I have to do is wait. Tonight would be enough.'
But Klautz words were not enough to calm down Verona. Klautz wrung her hands as he made her turn to him.
"Compassion is good. But reserve it only for me. Compassion for strangers can be dangerous."
Saying so Klautz sealed her lips making her forget all of her worries. Their warm breath hit against each other as they became more and more conscious of each other in the chilling night. The fire burning beside them paled in comparison to their heated kiss.
*swish*
The cold wind blew causing Evelyn to shake all over as the couple exchanged a romantic moment. There was no hope for her.
"Cold…"
"I don't want to die…"
"Please…"
"Don't kill me…"
Her body shivered as she spoke her heart out. The strong front that she had displayed so far was nowhere to be seen. She had just become a helpless fish that was squirming once it was brought to land.
Her whispers disturbing their love, Klautz was forced to break apart their kiss leaving a flustered Verona on her own terms.
"I told you, I am not letting you get away unless you tell me everything."
Klautz's voice appeared like a melody to her ears. She was already so out cold that her vision had turned blurry. She couldn't see his face, but his voice made her think.
'If he releases me. And I can catch him off guard, maybe I can escape with my teleport.'
But she made a light chuckle at her own thoughts. There was no weapon on her. Everything was in her inventory. Before she could even take out her weapon or activate her teleport she was going to die to his blade for disobeying Klautz.
Klautz's presence was enough to tell her what was going to happen. But her will was slowly dispersing away making her completely helpless.
'What if he is a good person. Maybe he would let me go as he promised?'
