Shinobi From Hell

Chapter 239 - The Dark Camp

Chapter 239 - The Dark Camp

"Butler, how many cavalries work under me at the moment?" the boy as he gazed outside of the carriage.

There was only one man along with him dressed in black who received his question.

??

"a hundred sir."

"And how many troops?" the boy asked nonchalantly.

"A whole battalion of infantry, sir" the man replied while checking his watch.

While Klautz and the other ninjas lived a life of solitude. Most of the hells folk relied on armies and powerhouses for the sake of their survival. Beasts at the deathly forests didn't threaten them as much as the threat from the humans. The competition for the race to acquire resources was as fierce as ever. As such only a fool would be willing to work alone.

The only reason why the ninjas were able to survive in such a dog eat dog world was only that they weren't part of the society in the first place. They lived in the shadows. They ignored all and were ignored by all.

"And yet my brother has greater achievements than me. Care to explain why it is so?"

The boy turned over as he changed his line of sight. In reality, the boy already knew the answers to all of his questions. But he kept getting lost in his soliloquy as he delved deep in thought with only his bodyguard at his company.

The man sighed. He knew of the boy's worries. But for better or worse he cannot support him in his endeavor. That would only bring about the man's own doom…..

"Your brother's troops don't even amount to half of what you have under your command. Your achievements acquired by yourself were enough to stand against your brothers even considering the age difference. But according to the reports that we have received from our intelligence. Your brother was able to form a sizable faction during the newbie camp as he delved into adulthood and thus the achievements of the members of his factions are also taken into account and thus making his standing higher than yours."

To such a reply the boy scoffed as he squinted his eyes.

"Hmmm… tell me something that I don't know about already. What are the chances of me overtaking him after this year? After I clear my newbie camp?"

The newbie camp was indeed a place of great opportunity for the second gen to build factions. Being a once in a lifetime opportunity for that hell folk that was coming of age, his brother could not reap its benefits anymore.

Thus it was all the boy's stage to play.

The camp itself might be a blessing to them in disguise but for the newbies, it was a double-edged sword. It provided them with security and peace indeed but in exchange, they had to pay a heavy price.

"I am fairly certain that provided you dedicate yourself to building connections for your faction and getting enough followers you would be able to overtake your brother's achievements in a breeze within a single year."

The black-haired boy nodded.

"It is really unfortunate, isn't it? My brother had been working for years in his faction. But a single event can cause him to fall and cause me to rise? The newbie camp is indeed a harsh thing. Today I would be overtaking my brother with its benefits. Tomorrow someone else will overtake me as well. Tell me, isn't it unfair? Shouldn't we just destroy the camp to make matters simpler?"

The boy asked, staring into the distance into a daze. The butler stood stupefied with no words adorning his mouth.

The camp might be a pot of opportunities for most. But the boy thought otherwise. To him, it was just an eyesore. A harsh place that shouldn't have existed.

Most people didn't know of the dark side that the camp had. Only a few people like Klautz and him knew of its inner workings. Even the bodyguard who accompanied the boy at all times didn't know about it. Thus he could only wonder why the boy was so against the flourishing of the camp.

*Bump*

The carriage jerked, bringing him back to reality. The butler shook his head as he realized that it was not his place to think much about it.

"I don't know what your plans are. But if that is your objective it will be hard. Your father would never let you have an easy time."

"I know…" he continued. "Father is the main problem here after all. Without him and those first gen fanatics, such a place would have been long demolished. All of them… they seem to have a blindfold on their eyes. They can't see what's happening behind the scenes. They can't see the looming threat that place is creating for us."

"What's more? Newbies who don't know the ways of hell… take up a lot of resources for nothing. Had these resources been used for the benefit of our generation instead, we would have turned the world of hell into much more of a livable place. In fact, people in our generation should have relied on more. We know the ins and outs of this world after all."

The butler didn't reply. What could he say? He was an earth born himself. But the kid didn't have any care for his sentiments let alone the backlash he might have received had he said the same things at a public event.

Klautz stood in the wide field with purple moss as he gazed in the distance. The field was wide but it was equally cramped thanks to the fact that all the newbies were made to stand outside.

All of them were supposed to be grinding, but they retired far early today for reason unknown.

"Looking at the situation, it is time for them to come." Klautz nodded.
