Chapter 33 - Target Locked
Chapter 33 - Target Locked
Dant swung his sword in a diagonal slash as it hit the beasts jaw just where Veronce had shot her arrow but alas his sword bounced off. It did very little damage as the scratch opened to a small wound.
This might be a nice tactic for them to actually cause damage to the beast. But would the beast let them attack itself so easily?
It opened its mouth wide open as it left no room for Dant to escape. The beast wasn't smart. But being a wild creature it had developed certain instincts which aids it to hunt its prey.
It let Dant attack it as a lure only to draw him closure to finish him in one bite. But, the beast's effort was for none as Bret came and pushed away Dant. Owing to Dant's swift motion they both escaped the teeth of the beast somehow.
Meanwhile, Kristie swung his axe on its torso.
*swish*
The beast roared in anger.
It felt annoyed as the weapons were continuously hurled at it. The attacks were like light pricks to it. But does that mean that it was okay with them and would not feel annoyed?
It roared in anger. It was furious. It was hungry.
Most beasts in the newbie forest were mostly dictated by hunger they were not smart. Instead, they relied on their instinct alone to hunt. That made them ferocious and wild but that didn't make them tricky.
The beast bellowed and shook its head right and left at an unimaginable pace. Bret jumped back not to get caught in its horns. And so did Dant. They charged at it again. With no other way to escape from this stage what more could they do? That's the only choice they had. Fighting it until it or they perish.
*swing*
Verona kept shooting her arrows from a distance. While the three fought tooth and nail with the beast. It was then…
Dant took a heavy kick from the beast. He wasn't able to dodge it as he had assumed that the four-legged beast would never use its legs to attack!
Since when did dogs kicked? They only bite. But this beast, it was moving like a bull rather than a dog.
*Cough*
Dant coughed up blood as he went flying back.
The other two were worried about him but they didn't dare look back for they were fighting with their life in their hands. A little bit of mischief here and there and they would die.
Klautz watched all of this from his hiding place. He was waiting for the right opportunity to strike. Which he believed would come sooner or later.
The reason Klautz was using this method was so that he could save energy. He doesn't want to get injured fighting the first few stages only to die to the beast at the last stage. His plan was simple.
Use swift attacks to kill the beasts in the first few stages and then fight the boss at the last stage with everything he had got.
After all, how can he hope to fight that monster with an injured body and depleted stamina?
That is why Klautz came up with this method. It was the perfect fit for the shinobi like him. Through the year of training and the aeons of missions he had gone through Klautz has developed adaptability far surpassing anyone else. It didn't take him long to make out the best possible route and make proper choices to clear this trial.
But alas if the thing were so easy why would Klautz ever be so cautious?
There were too many variables to consider so much so it was impossible to make absolute deductions and plans in real life battles.

Dant lips arched into a smile. He thrust out his chests as he sneered.
While not as perfectly as he imaginged he was able to accomplish two of his goals. Firstly he wanted to raise the moral of the group and make them put up a proper fight and secondly he wanted to seperate himself from them. While he did sustain a bit of injuries, he was able to seperate himself from them.
"Where is he?" Dant asked to himself. One might think he would be looking for Klautz but thats not the case. He had already accepted the fact that he can't find him unless he chose to himself.
He was looking for Blair cause he had already decided who would die in this stage. The useless ones should die first. Cause as long as he lives he will only hold them back! He was already a cripple.
"The useless should die to make way for the useful," he said to himself. He was yet to realize that when he points a finger at others four fingers points at himself.
Dant's eye finally found the guy. Yet Klautz was nowhere to be seen.
"If that Klautz doesn't come after this then we are doomed."
At first Dant had thought that even if Klautz didn't help the gorup he will be able to kill the beast with a small sacrifice, that is a meat shield to distract it. But now he was thinking otherwise. His weapons had no effect on the beast, how could he hope to kill it by sneaking behind? Impossible!
He needed at least a better weapon for that but he had none.
In the newbie forest there were many different trials and loot boxes. They had treasures which included better weapons and armour. If Dant and co. had explored some other area they might have been fortuitous. But it just so happen that the Trial of Control was the most difficult amongst all them. Their luck couldn't have been more worse. With the weakest E ranked weapons in hand how could they ever hope to clear this trial?
