Chapter 56 - First Lesson
Chapter 56 - First Lesson
The beast was charging at them with all its might. Dant's pupil shook left and right as he took quick breaths. His whole body shook as a sudden sense of discomfort entered it out of nowhere.
'What do I do now. There is no way we can run away from this! I don't want to die.'
Dant took out his sword. His gaze shifted to Bret's back.
'It's 'do' or 'die'!'
"Sorry for this," he whispered.
*swish*
"Ha!" With a shout, he pushed forth his sword. His killing intent leaked. The sword pierced Bret's back at his lower abdomen as it came out from the other side.
"Ugh," Bret cried as he felt the pain rushing through his body. It ripped apart his very soul. Bret had his essential internal organs fine enough for him to survive but it still hurts like hell. He looked down to find out why it hurts so much.
His pupils rippled as he saw the tip of the sword piercing out of his stomach. Blood tickled through its length. Terror was all he felt. He took rasping breaths as he wa s having full body tremors.
"Ah!" He screamed as he felt the impending danger to his life.
"Just shut the fuck up!" Dant roared as he kicked the man hard on his back. The sword came out of his back as he was hurled towards the beast. He rolled on the ground in pain as his body didn't stop until it made several flips. The sword had dyed in blood as it dripped to the black floor.
Seeing all of this Verona covered her mouth in horror. Her hands started sweating as her chin trembled.
"Dant?" she couldn't believe what she just saw, she had only one thing on her mind.
"Why?" She had no words to answer that question of hers.
Neither to Verona nor to Klautz did this event passed unnoticed.
He came out of his black cocoon and swung himself in the air. With a hard kick to the rooftop, he accelerated himself downwards. The kick gave him the extra momentum he needed in addition to the pull of gravity that accelerated him more and more.
He felt as if a huge gush of air pummeled his body and especially his face with his accelerated downfall.
"Ha!"
The beast had sunk its teeth at the poor Bret. With him lying on the floor and the beast focused on his very body, its blind spot was up above. And that's exactly from where KLautz descended.
*Slash*
The sword's blade slashed at the beast's neck. It felt some resistance as it tried to behead the beast. But before the beast could do anything, the sword already went through and sunk enough to cut off its lifeline.
*Drip*
*Drip*
Blood dripped on Bret's dead carcass as the beast lost its life. The sword still struck at its neck, its head hadn't detached from the body yet. But its soul had long been detached from its carcass.
"Ha…ha"
Klautz held onto his chest. He had felt a huge air pressure on his chest due to his accelerated motion. It was as if 5 burly men had sat on top of his chest. That was the amount of air resistance he felt. One might ignore the air around them in everyday lives but owing to great speeds it can make or break you.
Air resistance is proportional to velocity. The higher the speed, the greater the resistance and Klautz defence stats were not enough to counter it this time around.
It was a dangerous move and could have left Klautz badly injured, but thankfully his predictions were right. The beast's bones acted as KLautz speed breaker, absorbing all the momentum that Klautz had gained.
Klautz panted as he got hold of his breath.
"Finally"
Klautz fought like a Shinobi till the very end without even realising it. Having a glance at Bret's body and having all the tension in his body escaped after the last battle, memories started flooding in his mind. Precisely Bret's state acted as his trigger.
[Flashback]
In the darkness of the night, three youngsters sat at the bench beside a veranda. In front of them stood a man with his face covered with a purple cloth.
"Congratulations from today onwards, all of you are E rank ninjas"
The man continued with his soliloquy.
.
.
.
The other two listen to him in apt attention but KLautz gaze shifted his gaze from the man from time to time as he glanced at the world from the veranda. All he could see were several houses with slanted roofs, them being at most two to three-story in height. Various flags hung from them as decorations portraying extreme calligraphy. And even in the darkness of the night, everything was perfectly visible as the whole village illuminated with oil lamps.
"So what do you think? What's the job of the Shinobi?" Klautz attention shifted back to the man.
"Isn't it to defeat bad guys and kill ferocious beasts?"
"Haha," The man burst out laughing. "Your lack of knowledge is nothing wrong as a beginner but at least not start assuming weird things."
"What do you mean?" Klautz furrowed his brows.
"You mistake us. We are not some knights or some Samurai. We are Ninjas, and ninjas follow the path of least resistance. Remember this for a ninja, a perfect battle is a battle that is won without fighting. That's the way of the ninja. We don't exist to fight, we exist to complete missions. Missions that you can very much complete without fighting. Missions that muscle heads can never accomplish."
Klautz nodded, "So don't they have to fight to complete these missions?"
"You will learn of our ways with time but remember this ninja must avoid fighting at all costs. Ninjas are supposed to be invisible and become part of nature. Be one with the mountains, rivers, trees and plants. Nothing too flashy"
