Chapter 121: Why? Not Convinced?
“What do the both of you mean by that?!” barked the fifth princess as she stared at Ling Yichen and Xia Zhuoyi. She couldn’t take it anymore. Both boys nodded in tacit understanding before lowering their heads and continuing to eat without looking around.
“Harumph!” huffed the fifth princess, feeling extremely dissatisfied. “All of you actually lumped me and that idiot together! Am I really like that?”
“Well, in the past, you were definitely as idiotic as such in the eyes of others,” said Ling Chuxi slowly. “Why? Are you still not convinced? Then let’s battle it out! Just watch me toss you around all over the ground! If you’re not happy with how people perceive you then don’t appear as an idiot in their eyes. Be obedient.”
The fifth princess lowered her head dejectedly and quietly started eating her food. Ling Chuxi’s simple and violent method of teaching was perfectly suited to her.
Their waiter was still standing outside their dining room door with his head lowered and constant apologies streaming from his mouth. Yet, the other party still refused to let the matter slide and kept on shouting in a proud manner. “Do you know who I am? I am—” Suddenly, the opposite party stopped yelling and pushed the waiter aside to enter the dining room where Ling Chuxi and the rest were. The maiden’s eyes were sparkling as she stood before Ling Chuxi. The followers behind the nouveau riche young maiden were all in fitted clothing that demonstrated that they were all martial arts practitioners who were in charge of guarding her. They followed closely behind her as she entered the dining room.
Before Ling Chuxi and any of the others at the table could speak, the nouveau riche young maiden stretched out her hand and pointed at Little White who was by Ling Chuxi’s side. “How much for the fox? I fancy it. Name a price. How much are you willing to sell it for?”
The fifth princess glanced over at the maiden coldly. She was already feeling unhappy right now, and now here was someone who had entered into her presence just as she was feeling as such. ‘Ha! So sorry about this, I’ll cheer myself up for a bit then!’
Ling Chuxi slowly raised her head and looked at the nouveau riche young maiden indifferently. She appeared to be calm by all means as a shallow smile surfaced on her face. “Oh, and how much would you be able to afford?”
Though Ling Chuxi was smiling as she spoke with a gentle voice and very mellow tone, Ling Yichen and the rest were aware that Ling Chuxi was extremely furious at the moment. This current version of her was the scariest one.
“Just name a price. Sell this little fox to me.” Then, the nouveau riche maiden actually stretched out her hand towards Little White to hug it. But, before she managed to touch Little White, a pair of chopsticks suddenly smacked her hand away. The maiden cried out in pain and retracted her hand before looking at the person who had attacked her—Xia Zhuoyi!
“You dare hit me?!” screeched the nouveau riche maiden with a face full of disbelief. She grimaced from the pain, but still managed to glare fiercely at Xia Zhuoyi. Her followers put their hands on the handle of their swords, ready to attack at any given moment.
“You should be grateful it was me. If it was the rest of them, things wouldn’t have worked out in such a simple manner,” replied Xia Zhuoyi coolly with a cold expression. This was indeed the truth. If Ling Chuxi or the fifth princess had taken action, the matter wouldn’t have concluded as simply as with just a smack on her hand.
“Little White is one of a kind. For sale? Ha! Even if you had offered to give the whole world to me in exchange, Little White still wouldn’t be for sale,” said Ling Chuxi with a smile as she gently pet Little White’s head and sneered at the nouveau riche maiden. “You aren’t qualified to even lay your hands on Little White. If you dare try to do so again, I will turn your hand into a pig trotter.”
“How dare you!”
“Preposterous!”
Shouts erupted from behind the nouveau riche maiden. Her followers dared to raise their voices, but none of them drew their swords. Since all those who dined in private dining rooms were all rich and noble, they didn’t dare take any action without first clarifying the background of the opposite party’s members. Their master had instructed them to be mindful when their miss made a racket. Now that the opposite party had spoken out threateningly, they had to display a certain attitude to show they were protecting their miss.
“You dare speak to me like this over an animal!” spat the nouveau riche young maiden. She was so angry that her body was trembling, and her face was flushed red.
