Chapter 128: Enemies Meeting on a Narrow Path

Ling Yichen stared at Ling Chuxi’s smiling face. He felt himself zone out suddenly. Why did she have such confidence in this matter and why did he himself seem to share the same confidence that she’d definitely be able to do such a thing? Ling Yichen himself could not understand.

In order to help Ling Yichen breakthrough, Ling Chuxi would need to refine an intermediate tier Tian Luo Pill. The herbs it required were not cheap and were extremely rare. The Lan family would most definitely be unable to collect them all. It seemed as though the only option was to go to a medical hall to have a look and see what she could find.

The largest medical hall in White Stone City was well known. They were fair with their prices and had complete collections. It was a well-known fact that as long as one had the money, one could buy any herb one wished to buy.

Ling Chuxi ran her fingers over her purse. Ling Yichen had sold the items they procured during the experiential training for quite a bit of money. It should be sufficient enough to buy the herbs she needed to refine the Tian Luo Pill.

“Let’s go to the medical hall, Yichen,” said Ling Chuxi to Ling Yichen before rushing off to the largest medical hall in White Stone City excitedly. She also wanted to try out the pill formula for herself and see if the Tian Luo Pill was as heaven defying and miraculous as the rumours say it was.

The largest medical hall in White Stone City was called Ning He Hall. Its shopfront was wide and there were many people coming in and out. There were quite a few shop attendants entertaining customers with smiles on their faces. There wasn’t a hint of over-flattering of lavishly dressed customers nor was there any sign of ignoring the more shabbily dressed customers. One could tell the owner of this shop really knew how to do business. All the shop attendants here were well-trained.

Ling Chuxi and Ling Yichen were greeted by a smiling shop attendant the moment they walked through the door.

“Can I help the two of you with anything? The ordinary herbs are on the first floor and the slightly rarer herbs are on the second floor,” said the attendant with an attitude that was neither overbearing nor servile.

“We’ll head up to the second floor to have a look around,” replied Ling Chuxi.

“Please come this way then,” said the attendant with a delighted smile on his face. It seemed as though both these guests would be big spenders. He’d be able to obtain more rewards then. Although he felt much delight in his heart, the shop attendant didn’t appear to be overly passionate.

Ling Chuxi was sensitive enough to catch the minute changes in the attendant’s expression and was able to detect the delight he was suppressing in his heart. She couldn’t help but nod her head in praise. The medical hall boss did business well indeed. No wonder this medical hall became the largest in White Stone City.

After the attendant brought Ling Chuxi and Ling Yichen to the second floor, a spacious hall stretched out before them. Counters were lined up side by side displaying a variety of dazzling herbs. Quite a number of them were contained in jade boxes with the names of the herbs written on the covers. If one wanted to see these herbs, one needed to open the jade boxes. There were some tables and chairs arranged in the middle of the hall to provide a space for customers to rest and inspect their herbs of choice.

There were a few customers seated on the chairs but Ling Chuxi didn’t notice them. She walked over to the counters to check if any of the herbs she needed were there. Suddenly, she heard a shrill sound coming from behind her.

“Ling Chuxi! Ha! It really is you!” proclaimed the voice coming from behind her as it dripped with glee and joy.

What? Ling Chuxi turned around. The voice seemed familiar, as though she had heard it before. When she saw the person who spoke, Ling Chuxi understood the situation at hand at once. It was indeed someone familiar who spoke. Wasn’t this the nouveau riche maiden whom was turned into a pig head the other day?

“Oh, Miss Pighead. What a coincidence,” greeted Ling Chuxi with a smile. “I see your swelling has all but subsided. Not bad. You look quite pretty like this.”

“But, of course. I am a natural beauty,” replied Gao Rongrong as she raised her chin proudly.

“You look prettier with your face all swollen though,” added Ling Chuxi calmly with a smile.
