Chapter 128: Chapter 128: The Richest Person in the Magic Capital Changes!
The transfer of stock ownership in Ye Corporation caused quite a stir in Magic Capital; no one had envisioned that such a venerable enterprise would be taken over by someone acquiring a 51% stake. Wasn't that essentially the same as handing over the group to someone else?
But when they found out that the person who took over the shares was Song Yun, everyone backed off.
It was a joke—the two were essentially family! How was this different from moving money from the left pocket to the right pocket?
Now, what people were most interested in was just how much Song Yun's net worth was.
The Hua Country rich list followed suit, estimating Song Yun's current fortune and posted a message, confirming that the title of Magic Capital's richest had changed hands, now held by Song Yun!
People weren't surprised, only lamenting how Ye father had been boldly forging ahead in his youth and in his middle age, he had a good son-in-law to take his place. Ah, why couldn't their own daughters be more competitive!!!
At the Ye family residence.
After Song Yun and Ye Qingqing discussed what had just happened in the house, Ye Qingqing wasn't as disheartened as expected; instead, she was quite excited.
She leapt onto Song Yun's back and exclaimed, "Husband, you're so awesome!"
"You're not mad about me trading money for shares?"
"Of course not." Ye Qingqing kissed Song Yun's cheek and said with a giggly smile, "Who in this world gets a free lunch? You didn't lend Dad 50 billion with the intention of making a profit, and Dad didn't take advantage of you, isn't this the brilliance of human nature?"
"Is that really what you think?"
"Yeah! Otherwise, what? I'm not like some people who prioritize their parental home over their own marriage. To me, once you're married, of course the first thing you consider is how to better manage our home, and as for helping out the parental home, it's okay, but not for free!"
Song Yun chuckled and said, "Aren't you afraid your in-laws will know what you said and beat you up?"
"I'm not afraid at all, my husband's fortune is now surely that of Magic Capital's richest man—I am the wife of the richest man!"
The couple fooled around for a while before they went downstairs to get ready for dinner.
After dining at the Ye family, Song Yun and Ye Qingqing planned to return to their villa in Hua Capital. As for the villa in Junle, it was still being renovated; they planned to move in after Song Yun's father returned and the wedding ceremony was completed.
"Director Song, I just overheard from the Ye family that you're now the richest man in Magic Capital?" Huang Baoding, sitting in the driver's seat, asked with some perplexity. He was genuinely shocked—it was just an afternoon's time, and Song Yun's status had risen so much!
"What richest man or not, don't we all need to eat, sleep, and use the bathroom?"
Song Yun answered with a laugh, not placing much importance on this status; after all, when Ye father found out about his sharp rise on the Hua Country rich list, they talked for a long time in the study.
"I'm thinking of expanding the security detail around you, what do you think?"
Bao Ding finally shared the thought that had been on his mind for half the day. He was too afraid to take any chances, even looking around nervously while driving, fearing a car might dart out at any intersection.
"Do I really need that many people around?"
"Yes! You do!"
Bao Ding quickly spoke up, his tone firm,
"Your kindness isn't wrong, but you can't assume everyone is like you! There's no shortage of people in this world who would risk it all for money!"
"Yeah, husband, dad usually has four or five bodyguards accompanying him when he goes out, and Uncle Tu is also out there in civilian clothes watching for suspicious individuals. Even so, dad has still encountered danger several times before!"
Ye Qingqing's words plunged Song Yun into deep thought. His own ability to protect himself was certainly enough; not to mention a few people, even if dozens came at him, he could escape in an instant. But what about the people around him?
They were just ordinary people; if they truly encountered danger due to his negligence, he would regret it for the rest of his life!
"Bao Ding, I'll leave this matter to you. As for the welfare, it can be several times higher than the market rate, but one thing, I need them to be absolutely devoted!"
Song Yun's words filled Bao Ding's heart with joy. His comrades certainly didn't need convincing; each one was an upright man. Yet, back in their hometowns, they weren't doing so well. If they could ensure Song Yun's safety and address his brothers' employment at the same time, it would be killing two birds with one stone!
"Don't worry, President Song, the people I bring will definitely be trustworthy."
Bao Ding said with a chuckle.
But just then, a crowd had gathered at the intersection ahead, completely blocking the already narrow road.
Bao Ding's vigilance rose immediately. He slowly pulled the car over to the side, furrowed his brows, and said, "Don't get out of the car, no matter what. I'll go check what's happening! Lock the car doors after I get out, and don't open them unless I come back!"
He carefully opened the car door, and once he heard the sound of it locking from the inside, he walked towards the crowd with peace of mind.
About ten minutes later, Bao Ding came back and knocked on the window, telling Song Yun, "President Song, there was a car that hit an elderly man up ahead, and they're still squabbling about it. It's not getting resolved any time soon."
Song Yun unlocked the car, and after Bao Ding got in, he said, "Taking a detour would take us over an hour. I suggest we wait here for a bit; someone might come to solve the problem soon."
Song Yun nodded and asked, "Is anyone injured up ahead?"
"No serious injuries. It was just a luxury car that hit an elderly man who dashed out into the road. The old man was carrying a sack full of empty mineral water bottles, looking quite destitute, and he's a bit out of it. The driver of the luxury car has a big scratch on the front of his car and is fretting over it," Bao Ding explained.
While the three of them were chatting inside the car, traffic police arrived and began directing the flow of vehicles. The traffic slowly started moving again.
As they drove past the scene, Song Yun glanced at the bewildered elderly man sitting on the ground and suddenly demanded to stop the car.
He frantically opened the car door and ran toward the elderly man.
Bao Ding was startled by Song Yun's action; he unbuckled his seatbelt and quickly followed, scanning the surrounding crowd vigilantly, fearing someone with ill intentions might emerge.
The scene had been cordoned off by the traffic police with a few traffic cones, and the owner of the luxury car stood by his vehicle, sighing dejectedly. He hadn't done anything to deserve this; his new car, which he had only had for a month, was now damaged in an accident. To make matters worse, the elder who was responsible for his heavy loss seemed to be a simpleton.
Damn, his luck was just too bad!
"Old man, stop sitting there pretending to be pitiful! Get your family here to talk about compensation. I'm telling you, this won't settle for anything less than thirty or fifty thousand!"
The owner of the luxury car lightly kicked the elder sitting on the ground, his tone dissatisfied.
But the old man just stared, his body trembling uncontrollably.
"Damn it, are you a mute or something? I'm talking to you!"
