Chapter 59 59. Gazel’s Sword: The Abyss Demands Blood. [1]
Chapter 59 59. Gazel’s Sword: The Abyss Demands Blood. [1]
[In the primordial times, there existed seven celestial dragons who ruled the world with their might.
The eldest of all, [the red dragon of fire "Kilmish"], he destroyed planets with his single fire breath.
The second was [the mammoth of heaven "Sera"], she ruled heaven with her iron fist.
The third was [the blood dragon of the abyss "Gazel"], he ruled the crimson-black realm called the abyss.
The fourth was [the white dragon of light "Zenith"], she ruled the horizons of the world.
The fifth was [the vengeful dragon of the storm "Veldora"], he brought the almighty storms with him anywhere he went and destroyed anything in his path.
The sixth was [the wise dragon of space "Veldanava"], he created his world based on the knowledge of creation.
The seventh was [the ruler dragon of the sea "Yedgard"], he put the sea under his control singlehandedly.
The almighty rule of these seven dragons made other beings insignificant.
This left the other races envious of dragons.
To satisfy their egos, fighting the dragon race and killing their brethren became a symbol of bravery for these races.
As a result, a great war started.
The dragons Veldanava, Yedgard, Zenith, and Sera were peaceful and did not participate in the war between dragons and other races.
They helped Veldanava to complete his world which was out of the reach of other races and one day, disappeared into thin air to protect the vast knowledge of dragons and incredible strength from extinction.
On the other hand, the dragons Kilmish, Gazel, and Veldora decided to fight all other races and became the very definition of tyrants.
They won the war.
After a millennium, to end their tyranny, all races fought tooth and nail until, the red dragon of fire Kilmish was defeated by Justice King Michael, the king of angels.
After the defeat of Kilmish, the vengeful dragon Veldora was defeated as well.
Before the last dragon, Gazel became the target of other races, an unknown entity appeared and defeated Gazel, ending the tyranny of the shadow dragon.]
"Woah!" The information was surprising.
The ominous sword with a black sheath in my hands was made up of a celestial dragon's bones, who had ruled the crimson-black abyss.
However, my surprise did not last long as a new set of information was followed by another notification.
[Requirements to upgrade the Gazel's sword (Level1)à(Level2)
The host's Blood (Incomplete)
Blood of Alpha Monsters (1/50)
Description: To get recognition as its master from the Gazel's sword, the host has to put his blood on the sword.]
"So I can upgrade my sword by my blood? And since I've already killed one alpha before I have to only kill forty-nine alpha monsters more." It was a joyous moment for me since this sword would come in handy against the incoming Demon Hunter.
"System, tell me the procedure." At my order, a blue screen appeared in front of me.
<The Host has to satiate the thirst of the Gazel's sword.
Please cut your right wrist and pour the blood on Gazel's sword. The sword will recognize the host as its master through blood afterward.>
"Ok." Taking a seat nearby, I unsheathed the sword, cut my right wrist, and poured blood on the sword.
Immediately after my blood touched the surface of the sword.
Swoosh!
The air around me turned denser and the sword released a red aura.
On my bloodied sword, there appeared some unknown symbols, however, as a demon, I was able to read them.
["The abyss demands blood."] The meaning behind the symbols was easy yet difficult to understand.
"What do you mean?" I asked in an unnamed language and surprisingly the sword turned red.
When I stared at the red sword, I felt my entire being getting sucked into it.
My inner alarm bells were ringing loudly, warning me of the incoming danger.
'This sword is dangerous!' I concluded but I still held on and tightened my grip on the sword.
I was yet to feed its requirements for the fifty alpha's blood.
The first blood that required was mine to recognize me as its owner and the sword was "literally" drinking my blood.
As time passed, I continued feeding it my blood until my consciousness started drowning and before I even knew it, I was in an unknown place.
…
[The crimson-black abyss]
Inside a world where no color except for red existed.
The reason? Because the environment inside this world was dyed with blood.
When Logan opened his eyes he was awestruck.
He stood on a small barren land where there was no life. Around him was a sea of blood till the vision reached and in the middle of that sea was a mountain of dead bodies of various monsters piled up.
The moon in the sky was also dyed red.
<Ding! A mandatory quest has appeared.>
"Hm?"
<Quest: Complete Gazel's trial to get recognition as its master.>
<Quest Completion Reward: The next level (3) conditions unlock.
Quest Completion Failure: No recognition, level lock, and the sword will be sent back to the system.>
"What-" Before Logan could express himself,
<Gazel's sword trial begins in 3… 2… 1… Now!>
He only heard a notification from the system.
"Do I not have any choice?" Although Logan said so, he was quite prepared for such a setting.
According to typical novels he had read in his past life; before the protagonist could gain the divine weapon, he had to go through such a trial.
Connecting those dots, Logan was prepared the moment he entered the abyss.
"Grr…"
"Grrr…" It was then that he heard the growls of the monsters that were dead a while ago.
Unlike the undead he expected, the monsters looked as if they were back to life.
Bearing their sharp fangs two wolves attacked Logan.
"So be it…" Under a single breath, Logan used the [God of War], and with his sharp claws, Logan beheaded the wolves in a single motion.
"Nice." Logan complimented himself as he felt some progress in his fighting.
The wolves were no match to him as the latter was at the fourth circle.
The dead bodies of the wolves turned into dust.
But this did not end the trial.
Another pair of wolves, stronger than the previous pounced at Logan.
"Hmph! Futile!" This time as well, Logan cut them easily.
"Bring me something better!" Logan shouted as if provoking someone.
But his voice went to deaf ears as no one replied to him.
One after the other bears, then boar, bulls, and whatnot.
Any and every monster pair that pounced at Logan met the same fate.
He did not even leave his place to kill those monsters.
"Tsk… Bring the big guy already, these bugs are no fun." Logan said in anticipation.
This time, however, there was a response.
Shake! Shake!
[…] In response to Logan's provocation, the world started shaking violently.
Awooo! Awooo! Awooo!
The wolves cried and started running away.
All monsters followed the same suit.
And then,
Roar! Roar!
With a mighty roar, the sky was shaken.
An infuriated figure appeared putting one claw that looked similar to that of a dragon from the pile of dead bodies.
Roar! Roar!
The bodies rolled down and fell into the sea of blood like pebbles.
Finally, after taking a whole minute to get up, a figure with two massive wings sat on the top of the bodies.
It didn't take any time for Logan to guess what it was.
"Beautiful…" Logan muttered as he saw the dragon.
Under the red moon, its black figure stood out like a warrior in battle.
It had two big horns on its head that were as sharp as giant swords.
Its long neck connected its head to its body.
Two giant dragon wings on its back flapped once and created ripples in the air.
Splash! Splash! Splash!
More and more bodies fell into the sea and a wave rose because of the flapping of his wings.
With its gigantic body sitting on the top, it looked down at Logan's figure for a whole minute with an amused expression on its face, the black-colored dragon spoke afterward.
[In Demon Language, "Why is there a creature of darkness inside my domain?" State your purpose.] Breaking Logan's chain of thoughts was a domineering voice.
"Are you perhaps Gazel?" Instead of answering the dragon, Logan asked and flew in the air, matching the dragon's gaze, as he didn't like the dragon looking down on him.
[As expected of a creature of darkness…] The voice said as if it realized something, but he still waited for Logan.
"I will ask again, are you perhaps Gazel?"
[No, I am not.] The dragon shook his head.
"Then are you here to fight me?" Logan asked but did not take any stance.
[You are not worthy of fighting me. I am here to only deliver one message.] The dragon said and its eyes turned red, like a predator.
[You provoked my liege, so now,] The dragon stretched its neck upward and,
Roooooooar!!!
"Kreeee!"
"Awoooo!"
"Iiiiiin!"
Followed by his roar, multiple monsters cried, and then,
"Fuck!" Logan cursed out loud as every single monster, whether it be sea monsters or mammals, every monster attacked Logan.
It was similar to a beast tide.
[Survive if you can.] The dragon flapped his wings and flew away while laughing at Logan.
He truly fucked this time.
...
[A/N: A big shoutout to Red_dragon for correcting my mistakes in earlier chapters.]
