Chapter 187: 187. A Resourceful Dungeon Fairy
Chapter 187: 187. A Resourceful Dungeon Fairy
[To awaken a bloodline, you must either have a dormant bloodline within yourself or contain necessary blood of a creature for bloodline infusion.
As the system has already added the new dormant bloodline within the host's body, this condition is met.]
[Please prepare 9 high-tier chaotic mana crystals, 9 innocent souls, a chromatic (preferably black) dragon flesh, blood, scales, and bones. The host may then create a magical array with Devil Runes as shown in the figure below for a Bloodline Awakening Ritual.]
Just as Jake opened his mouth in shock after reading until that point, the system panel dropped another info.
[The host already has an active bloodline. Depending on the compatibility of the Black Devil and the Demonic Dragon, these two bloodlines may fuse or oppose themselves.
But as the latter is of legendary-tier, the chance of opposition is less. That being said, there is still a probability of the host's body being overwhelmed by two powerful bloodlines, resulting in an immediate death.]
Now he felt like the system was scaring him. But thinking about it now, this might be the most dangerous thing he was going to try.
'Ugh… but how do I get dragon flesh, bones and stuff…?' He frowned in frustration. Jake hadn't seen such things placed in the system's shop yet.
There was also the thing about finding chaotic mana crystals and not just any chaotic mana crystals, but only the high-tier!
He could easily get the innocent souls. However, those crystals were difficult to find even in a 2nd tier dungeon. He would either have to find a mana vein or mine the lower floors of a 3rd Tier dungeon.
''As expected of a Legendary bloodline, it is costly to even awaken this…'' Jake muttered and immediately opened the [Shop].
Maybe he would find what he needed there. Jake had already spent a massive amount of points on buying the bloodline, there was no way he would give up on it.
He paced around inside the core chamber for a while, searching for ritual materials. Jake still didn't see anything from a dragon.
However, he actually found chaotic mana crystals there but there were only two high-tier ones, priced at 125,000 Evil Points each.
Jake couldn't even buy them because he only had around 2000 points left with him.
The others were either mid-tier or lower. Jake asked if he could replace high-tier chaotic mana crystals with those of the lower tiers, but the answer was no.
It seemed these crystals had something to do with the nine innocent souls, and only the high-tier ones contained the immense power for awakening.
Jake didn't get most of what the system implied, but he understood that low or mid-tier chaotic mana crystals were unusable.
'Looks like I'll have to make the dungeon fairy scan Tartus for it… Wait, some chaotic crystals should have formed on this floor as well due to the fight from a month ago,' Jake spread out his senses, using [Magipathy].
The 72nd Floor of Tartus Dungeon was huge, nearly two quarters of Karsuda province in area. Just the core chamber could be considered big enough for tens of earth's largest football stadiums to fit.
Although Jake's [Magipathy] skill was already at max, being passive rather than active, there was a limit to it. He could even sense the water droplets on tiny ants with it, but such focus couldn't be maintained at larger distances.
Chaotic mana crystals were like normal mana crystals except for the fact that they were made of chaotic mana. Pretty self-explanatory. These crystals seem to be highly condensed and overly non-volatile due to their chaotic nature.
Meaning they could explode with even a slightest reaction. Fortunately such natural mana bombs came in extremely small sizes.
Yet this worked against Jake's situation at the moment. It was difficult to find them. He had to be extra careful with his senses…
Jake dismissed the system panel urging him to prepare the ritual array, and went to work. Using his perception to the max, he first scoured the area around the large floating sphere of mana in this chamber's middle.
The dungeon core.
The density of evil mana at this place was highly distracting. Finding a chaotic crystal among the hundreds of embedded normal mana crystals wasn't easy.
Jake teleported from time to time while searching, using his time to also practice this new skill. Though chanting was slower than just flying up to a nearby location, he was learning something.
Two hours passed by.
After a preliminary search, Jake decided to call the dark mage here and have him find the chaotic mana crystals instead. Sren was the fairy of this dungeon as well as its master, he would be better at this job.
Whoosh!
After recovering his mana, Jake teleported to the entrance of the 71st Floor and climbed up from there. He contacted the dark mage who was still busy with his experiments.
Disappearing from the forest below, Jake appeared right inside the floating castle. His teleportation circle looked more refined and darker right now.
Sren, who had just come to greet Jake, was pleasantly surprised by this.
"How… Master, you're already so good at this spell!'' The Dark Mage's shock was evident in his widened eyes.
''It hasn't been that long since you started learning it…''
''Oh, it's nothing.'' Jake waved his hand, dismissing the hard work many talented mages put in to even get remotely close to learning Lesser Teleportation.
[Ding! You have committed a prideful sin. You gain 103 Evil Points!]
This system notification was no surprise.
Looking at the dungeon fairy, Jake ordered him to go look for high-tier chaotic mana crystals. But he didn't expect the mage to laugh and say,
''Actually, master. I have some of those in my lab. What do you need them for though?'' Sren questioned in a curious tone.
''A ritual…'' Jake said as the teleportation circle disappeared. ''I want to awaken a dormant bloodline in my body. You don't happen to have some black dragon body parts, do you?''
Such a specific question raised the dungeon fairy's eyebrows. He thought for a moment and answered, ''No.''
''Well, I wasn't expecting you to-''
''But I do know someone who trades parts of a dragon…''
As soon as the dark mage replied, Jake couldn't help but smile. This dungeon fairy was really resourceful. It could be because Sren was also an Esoteric Artificer that he kept many different materials with him.
