Chapter 227 226: Castle of Nightmares
Racing Wolf catapulted through the air, breaking free from the tumultuous gap of the tornado. The sudden change in trajectory had caught everyone inside off guard. Rosa, Corey, and Divine were tossed around like ragdolls inside the car as it hurtled through the sky.
The world outside blurred into a chaotic whirl of sand and wind as Racing Wolf ascended higher and higher. The centrifugal force made it difficult for the barriers around Racing Wolf to be maintained.
CRACK!
CRACK!
CRACK!
Multiple cracks appeared around the barriers, and Divine, Rosa, and Corey poured copious astral energies into the barriers, reinforcing them and making sure they didn't break.
As Racing Wolf soared through the air, the team held on for dear life, the wind buffeting them mercilessly. But as they flew through the air, they noticed something odd. The tornado seemed to be shrinking, growing weaker with each passing second.
As they landed back on the ground with a jarring thud, they saw that the tornado had dissipated completely, leaving behind only a pile of sand and debris.
Divine let out a sigh of relief, his body shaking with adrenaline and relief. "We made it," he whispered, his voice barely audible above the wind.
The team looked at each other, their faces lit up with disbelief and relief. They had survived the impossible, and they knew that they owed their lives to Fatty Black Bonez and his incredible bone magic.
Breathless and shaken, they looked back at the tornado, which was now receding into the distance.
"Holy shit."
Fatty Black Bonez's voice was barely above a whisper, his eyes wide with terror as he panted heavily. His previous maniacal gaze had disappeared, causing Divine to exhale a soft breath of relief.
"Yeah. That was… intense."
Corey's voice was hoarse, his body shaking from the adrenaline rush.
Divine remained silent, his eyes fixed on the countless black dots behind them.
"We're not out of the woods yet. Keep your guard up."
His voice was calm but stern, a reminder that they still had a long way to go.
Corey followed Divine's line of sight, then he activated his Eyes of Omniscience and looked at the approaching Army of Hastur the Unspeakable.
A grim expression appeared on his face as he realized that they could not make use of the tornado to hold back the army of Hastur the Unspeakable.
If before, they had a 1% probability of defeating the army, with their current injuries and mana quantity, that probability has been reduced to 0.
Divine shook his head and turned towards Rosa with a solemn and worried expression.
"How's she? Can she still move?"
Rosa nodded, knowing full well who 'She' was.
"Our barriers managed to prevent excessive damage to Racing Wolf."
Divine exhaled a soft breath of relief, and with a solemn expression, he said:
"That's good. Take us to the portal quickly. We can't let that army reach us no matter what."
Rosa nodded, then she started the ignition and drove toward the direction Corey pointed at.
As they moved further into the desert, the night grew darker, and the air grew colder to the point that an average tier 1 would shiver no matter what. Luckily for them, none of them were avera,ge and they had means of surviving the cold and seeing in the darkness.
The moon, now a pale, sickly shade of blood, cast an eerie glow over the landscape.
Corey gazed at the moon, and he noticed that the blood-red moon looked like it was dying.
It was strange. He had never seen a moon die, but the moon above them looked exactly like what a dying moon would look like.
He looked behind and saw that the army of Hastur could no longer be seen. But despite not seeing the army of Hastur, he knew he could not relax until he finished the death race, so he decided to recover his mana.
At first, Corey, Rosa, Fatty Black Bonez, and Divine were not worried about how much time they had left, but when Rosa kept on driving for what felt like hours with no sign of Hastur or any other dangers, they became worried.
Was the portal that far?
Although they didn't want to doubt Corey, the time they had spent on the way to the portal was longer than any of them expected, even Corey.
Corey was the most baffled by the fact that the portal was so far away. He never expected his connection to space to be able to locate the portal that was so far away.
Time went by, and just when they thought Corey was mistaken about the portal's location, they saw it- a massive, looming structure. Rising from the sands like a monolithic nightmare.
It was a castle, but not like any castle they had ever seen. Its walls were jagged, twisted, and black as pitch, with strange symbols etched into the stone. Dark spires rose from its walls like claws, and the air around it seemed to shimmer with an ominous energy.
As they drove closer, they could see the massive gates of the castle wide open, revealing a dark, gaping maw.
Divine's voice was grim as he spoke.
"Kid? Don't tell me that's our destination?"
Corey nodded with a solemn expression as he looked at the massive castle.
"Looks like a Castle of Nightmares."
Fatty Black Bonez commented jokingly, but one could hear the grimness in his tone.
Corey decided not to speak, and his eyes briefly glanced at the massive mountains behind the castle.
Just as he moved his eyes away, his eyes widened slightly as he noticed something about the mountains.
Did it just… move?
Corey's eyes remained glued on the mountains, and some seconds later, he noticed the mountain move.
.c?m The mountains' movement resembled the breathing of a living being.
And to Corey's shock, he saw the mountain tremble slightly before it moved once again, but this time around, the movement was much more noticeable.
"Divine."
Corey called out to Divine, and Divine, who was formulating a plan with Rosa and Fatty, raised his brows as he looked at Corey, who had his eyes wide open.
"What?"
Divine questioned, and just as he asked, his eyes caught sight of the trembling mountain, which had an energy he dreaded and was highly familiar with.
"Fucking Clown!"
