Chapter 338 337: Exposed Status Window

?In the heart of the central hub, an electric tension crackled through the air, leaving a palpable sense of unease in its wake. The atmosphere seemed to tighten like a coiled spring as the gaze of the onlookers shifted between Corey, the Ember Elder, and the mysterious tier 6 individual who had just made his presence known.

Corey, still recovering from the failed teleportation attempt and the unexpected appearance of the tier 6, wore a frustrated expression that mirrored the confusion and irritation echoing in his mind.

'I'm just a tier 2. Why the fuck do I have to deal with all of these.'

Meanwhile, the Ember Elder, who recently recovered from the shock of Corey's successful teleportation, was now faced with the unexpected interference of the tier 6 individual. He wore a deep frown, his brows furrowed like a stormy sky, revealing a mix of irritation and uncertainty.

"Why is he here?"

He spoke softly, with a coldness in his tone that hinted at the frustration of a plan disrupted. However, his eyes betrayed a glint of greed whenever he glanced at Corey.

In stark contrast, the tier 6 newcomer, with his midnight blue hair and ethereal presence, exuded an intrigued expression that hinted at both amusement and curiosity.

His deep blue eyes scanned Corey with an intensity that increased the tension in Corey's bones. He chuckled, and all could sense the subtle arrogance in his tone, leaving everyone to wonder about his true motives.

The central hub, once a bustling and dynamic space, now held its breath as these three figures stood locked in a silent standoff.

"You're an interesting mortal, kid."

The tier 6 spoke, breaking the silence in the central hub, and Corey slightly furrowed his brows.

"You seem to have a lot of secrets." The tier 6 paused with a smile, and Corey's posture changed slightly. "Don't worry. I don't care about all your secrets."

The tier 6 gestured towards Corey, and then he continued: "I only want to know how you were able to teleport."

The instant the tier 6 said those words, all eyes fell on Corey, and Corey's eyes became cold. The gears in his mind spun as he thought of a way to escape his current predicament.

He obviously could not tell them the truth, so his mind thought of a good lie to give them.

"It's the wish I made."

Corey spoke with a cold tone, and the tier 6 raised his brows.

"The wish you made?"

The tier 6 questioned, and Corey nodded slightly without saying anything else nor letting down his guard.

Strangely enough, despite the appearance of the tier 6, Corey felt more danger from the Ember Elder.

It wasn't that the Ember Elder was stronger than him.

No.

He had the strange feeling that the tier 6 did not have the intention of harming him, unlike the Ember Elder, who did not hide his intentions to cause him harm.

Corey did not fully trust this feeling since it could be that the tier 6 was extremely good at hiding his intentions, or it could be that the tier 6 was using a skill to lower his guard.

Corey did not know, so he did the best thing… Staying vigilant and cautious.

Meanwhile, the tier 6 stroked his chin after Corey nodded, and before Corey could blink or react, he vanished from Corey's sight.

"Show me your status window."

Like Deja vu, the tier 6 appeared a few inches from Corey, just like the Ember Elder had done a few minutes ago.

Corey's pupils constricted, and the urge to escape, move, fight back, or react in any way possible flooded his body. But, he pushed down the urge with his entire being and stood rooted on the spot.

He made no moves for a few seconds, and then he released a sigh as he tried to calm his slightly trembling body.

The eyes of the tier 6 flashed, and he nodded.

"Wise decision."

The tier 6 spoke with an indifferent tone, and Corey took two steps back to increase the distance between the two of them.

The tier 6 tilted his head as he looked at Corey with raised brows. A tinge of curiosity appeared in his eyes as he wondered whether Corey planned on escaping or, even worse… fighting back.

'Nina. I need your help.'

[I got you.]

As the tier 6, the Ember Elder, and the onlookers watched Corey with curiosity, Corey spoke to Nina, and to his relief, she replied.

Not wanting to waste any time, he waved his hand and to the man's surprise, a translucent screen manifested before him.

The man glanced at Corey, and then he looked at the translucent screen.

As he looked at the translucent screen, his expression underwent various changes. From calmness and indifference to surprise, disbelief, shock, and confusion.

Approximately seven seconds passed, then the tier 6 closed his eyes while releasing a soft sigh.

"No wonder you were able to teleport. Your talent isn't ordinary."

The tier 6 spoke while looking at Corey with a strange glint in his eye, and Corey frowned.

He didn't know what the tier 6 saw in his status window, but he trusted Nina to not put him in danger or betray him.

If she did… then he was fucked.

Totally fucked.

"Follow me."

The tier 6 said while gesturing towards Corey. The onlookers and the Ember Elder were stunned when they heard the words of the tier 6.

"What's the meaning of this?"

The Ember Elder's figure flashed, and in the blink of an eye, he appeared before the tier 6 with a deep frown and his aura unconcealed.

"I'm taking him with me. Do you have a problem with that?"

The tier 6 asked with raised brows as he looked at the Ember Elder with the gaze of an adult looking at a child.

"Of course I do. The House has business with that mortal."

The Ember Elder was not intimated by the tier 6. Instead, he used his House's name to try and put pressure on the tier 6.

Amusement flashed in the eyes of the tier 6, and with a chuckle, he walked past the Ember Elder.

"That is none of my concern. Your entire House can fight the entire Underworld if you so wish."

The Ember Elder gritted his teeth, and the urge to do something foolish appeared in his heart. His gaze shifted from the tier 6 to Corey, who had a frown as he watched the departing tier 6.

With a belly full of anger, the Ember Elder walked away and departed from the central hub.

"Are you just going to keep on standing there?"

The tier 6 questioned with a displeased tone as the Ember Elder left the central hub, and Corey's gaze landed on him.

Corey released a soft sigh, and then he walked toward the tier 6.

'Let's hope I don't get tortured.'
