Volume 10, Chapter 41: Hell of Iron Trees
“There’s nothing like a map? I get the feeling......”
I looked over the Hell of Iron Trees and turned back to Yoxin.
“Look, even the road is gone. Does that mean that people......no, no undead go this way?”
“Do you see that blade?”
Yoxin said, pointing at a blade on a tree.
“That’s the Hell of Iron Trees’ specialty. Any undead that is cut by it will experience the most unbearable of pains. If they are cut several multiple times by accident then their soul would be destroyed. The average undead won’t go over there, where the worst of the undead will theoretically appear, so there naturally won’t be a road.”
“That’s true if that’s the case.”
“But our destination is basically that tree, right?”
Tai Shixi pointed at the large tree in the middle.
“Yes, that’s where it is.”
“In that case we just need to walk.”
With that, a row of yellow characters flew out of Tai Shixi’s other hand and floated in the air above the iron trees.
“This is......”
“Pathfinding seal.”
Tai Shixi softly said, she turned to Yoxin.
“Thank you very much.”
“I wish you a smooth journey.”
Yoxin nodded before turning and floating back along the road.
“I had almost forgotten......you had another career.”
I looked at Tai Shixi
“Taoist.”
“Well, I learned it by chance. There are no mages in the Eastern Continent after all, in general you can only cultivate. I’m not really clear on what happened, I happened to learn it when I went to visit a friend.”
“You are too laid back......”
I laughed and looked at the characters.
“But it’s pretty useful in general, right?”
“Well, in certain locations. It is very useful here in the west. Most people don’t understand it and can be defeated by certain spells.”
“For example?”
“Perception shift. They think they are aiming at me, but are actually looking elsewhere.”
“Oh, that’s very useful.”
“But for only 5 seconds.”
“.........”
Then if I released a rain of arrows, it would still pound against you.
“Stop sulking. Come on, aren’t we in a hurry?”
Aliyah said, heading over to the first character.
“That’s true.”
I nodded and came over.
But getting closer, I realized that things wouldn’t be as simple as I thought.
The entire forest is overgrown with swords and even under the trees there were blades ready to cut those passing by.
Of course......
Aliyah and Oyado were naturally able to easily pass through. And Hei Luoli was able to get through with a slight stoop.
For me......well, it isn’t too much trouble to bend my waist, but it is troublesome to walk.
Right now I have to thank my current female body. It’s very convenient.
As for Bai Yueguang and Tai Shixi......their expressions changed after seeing the trees.
Earlier it was mentioned that being cut by these blades would cause pain in one’s soul, but they also looked like physical blades on top of that? Isn’t it guaranteed that they would be injured if they were cut?
??????????????????????????????
Those two are much taller than I am. Especially Tai Shixi, who’s the tallest despite being a girl.
I’m really worried about her.
She was fully crouched down and bent over, trying to get out from under the tree.
“I hate this place.”
As Tai Shixi got out from under the first tree she stood up in the gap between trees.
Then she looked at the character floating in the air.
“Damn it. That’s the first one. There are 12 of them. This is going to drive me crazy.”
“Well, it isn’t as if there is any other way we could go, right?”
“Ah!! If only I could fly!”
“Fly......”
I could originally do it, but I’ve since taken an arrow to the knee.
Well, even if I could fly, only I would be able to get through and all of us need to pass.
Although I can barely use my Ice Board, I would only be able to take one person with me when I fly and it would take several trips. That magic would also take a magic stone to use each time, and I have only 10 of them on me. I’d run out.
This isn’t a situation where I have to no other choice but to fly......
Just as I was thinking that, we spotted an undead flying up. It looked like it was fleeing.
A second later, a spinning blade flew up from a nearby tree and pierced the undead. The undead floundered for a moment before falling on the cold blades.
Oh my god......
I gulped.
Thankfully I can’t fly or that would be my fate.
With a bitter smile I spoke to Tai Shixi.
“Bear with it. At least we can get through.”
“Haa.”
Tai Shixi sighed and continued to lean over.
“Let’s go. Come on.”
“Yes yes~”
Everyone was waiting for me to go first and I was too embarrassed to say anything.
So I rushed ahead to explore the path ahead. I used acceleration and put a soil shield behind me and rushed to the below the fifth character.
Taking the shield off of my back and seeing the marks on it made my entire body feel bad.
If the attack was like this then it would definitely hurt the dead!
Just then, for some reason I heard a cry of grief so loud that it caused the nearby trees to shake!
I had a bad feeling, so I summoned a vine to pull Aliyah and Oyado behind me. Right after that several blades fell from the trees and pierced into the ground.
“Oh my god......”
Aliyah looked at the blades in horror.
“Th......thanks a lot.”
“Thank you elder sister~”
Oyado came up and hugged me.
“You’re welcome. Bai Yueguang, how are things going on your side?”
“Don’t worry, we hadn’t even begun to crawl through this area. We were lucky.”
Bai Yueguang called over to us.
“Let’s clean these up and head on.”
“All right.”
“Elder sister, over there. There is someone else.”
Oyado suddenly said as she looked in the direction we were heading.
“Yeah. There’s obviously going to be more than trees to stop us.”
I stared at the name behind the tree.
“It looks like we have some special guests.”
