Chapter 208 Punishment
Chapter 208 Punishment
She was late that day. She had trouble getting on the rides, when she did, she realized she does not know Kamiya's address. So she had to go around the neighborhood asking for Kamiya's address.
Kamiya was pretty famous by now. Everyone knew him as the boy who died on an expedition. Most of them even knew his area. They directed Reon to the area, she asked people in the neighborhood, and finally reached the destination.
Unfortunately, when she arrived, instead of crying noises, she heard shouts and people talking in code. When she stood in front of the house, instead of seeing men and women dressed in black, she saw men dressed in blue and black, and orange robes, running around the house.
They had taped the area and sealed the entrance. The gate was locked, and the guards teleported to investigate the area. They were running around the backyard, the front yard, and had cast a few spells
She saw a man with a white beard and white hair appear out of thin air. She decided to ask him about the situation.
He was about to teleport again when Reon called him, "Sir! Sir, please stop!"
Atama turned and saw a girl dressed in n black one-piece that displayed her curves around the hips and chest.
He frowned. She looked around and then smiled at him.
"Sir, what happened here? I thought a funeral was…"
"Scientist. You are a scientist." Atama recognized her.
Reon's heart started racing. 'Oh, shit,' she thought. But then took a deep breath and admitted that she was a scientist. "I am."
"Why do you know Kamiya?"
"I… I used to play online video games with him. Who are you, sir?" she asked.
Atama could not define her as someone dangerous or threatening. "Their teacher. Headmaster of Mahoutokoro. And the Mage Minister."
She felt she might die at the moment. "W-What? S-Sorry, I will—"
"No, wait. Do you know Hitori, by any chance?"
"Hitori-san? Yes, I do…" Then a sad smile fell over her face.
"Are you carrying a gun, miss?"
Reon raised her eyes. "Do you know what is going around here? Do you know what happened to Kamiya and the reason behind his death?"
Atama did. The vision of the images from Kamiya's room flashed in front of his eyes. He was told about everything later.
"With that," she said, "I can not go around without a gun."
Atama looked at her. "Do you know what Hitori was going to do today?"
"No…" she looked down, "I did not."
"Do you want to know? Cause I do," Atama said and glanced around, then glanced at the first floor's window. No Hanzai staring at him from the window.
She looked at him, pursed her lips, and nodded. "Yes. But he would not tell me…" she said.
Atama lifted his hand and offered it to her. Reon glanced between his hand and his eyes. She hesitantly lifted her hand. She was not sure she was going to do it.
But she did. She placed her young hand in Atama's wrinkled, tanned, and old hand.
"This might feel a little strange," he said as he tightened his grip on her hand.
"Who would?" She got the answer when Atama disappeared with her.
On the fourth of March, it was four weeks after Kamiya's death, two weeks since the holidays started, and one day after Kamiya's funeral.
Hitori was in his room with a book in his hands. He had drawn the curtains and lightened the lamps even when it was twelve in the noon.
The door opened and Hitori jumped out of the bed. He opened his room door, grabbed his wand from the back, and walked to the front door.
"Eya-nee?" he asked, looking at the door.
"No, I am her brother," Kakashi said.
Hitori stopped his wand that was on the way to aim at the person on the other side of the door. He turned and went to the kitchen.
"I have a visitor for you…" Kakashi said. Hitori turned around and found a person with white hair and a white beard with glasses on in the doorway.
He looked at him with a cold look. He did not want to meet him. "Atama-sensei?" he said.
"Hello, I have a few questions for you regarding yesterday's—"
"I have nothing to say…"
"You have to. Do you understand I am covering for you?" Atama opened the door slightly and slipped through the gap. He glanced behind and stretched his hand, then closed the door.
"I know…" Hitori pulled a chair and took a seat. "Can we talk about it later? I am trying to indulge myself in the fantasy world to—"
"We are living in a fantasy world. I do not have time for this, the Ministers are asking for my opinion. How can I choose sides when I do not know the whole story? What if I make the wrong decision?"
Atama sat in front of Hitori. Kakashi went near the storeroom and folded his hands. He decided to listen to the conversation from afar.
"I was in Kamiya's room on Akemi-san's orders. I came out and I found him and Eya-nee bound into the wall. Is not that enough to make you decide your sides?" Hitori said.
Atama looked into Hitori's eyes and nodded. "Binding someone is different from half-murdering someone and putting them into a coma. And Hanzai already has his suspicion on you. God knows what you ever did to him."
"Hanzai? From the Criminal Department?" Hitori frowned. "Why him?"
"Tell me, did you cast a curse?"
"What, no? My wand was with that bastard. He cast a curse twice at me."
"So he killed his own man?"
Hitori looked at Kakashi. "He did something to me that made me move. I dodged the curse and the person behind me got hit with it."
Kakashi sighed. "Now you know why I do not take your name," he muttered.
"Alright, I have decided," Atama said, "I will cover for you. You will be safe, just stay away from trouble. If you say the curse was used by Kamiya's father, then you are safe."
Atama left the chair and was walking to the door when Hitori said, "Atama-sensei," Atama stopped, "he deserved it."
Atama was not pleased with that line. He opened the door. "You have heard it all, girl. Now talk to him."
Kakashi leaned forward and stepped away from the storeroom. He took out a box from his storage and presented it to Hitori. "Your meds. Do not get out of the house till the summer holiday is over."
"Hitori," Atama called as he swung open the door to reveal a lady standing in the doorway.
Hitori would have spit water if he was drinking any. He saw a lady wearing a black one-piece and standing staring at him with fear in her eyes.
Hitori rose from the chair. "What is she doing here?"
