Chapter 98: The Submerged Depths of Nagoya
Chapter 98: The Submerged Depths of Nagoya
"So, it's Saturday... how's everyone doing?"
: Commuting to work.
: On the train.
: Cleaning my house.
: Just lounging around.
: Every day's summer break for me, I'm invincible.
: Days of the week don't matter to a NEET.
"For those commuting, good job. If you're cleaning, make sure to finish before watching. If you're lounging around, it's the weekend, so relax and enjoy. For the NEETs, please head to the employment office on Monday."
: Lol.
: No way I'm going.
: I'll live off my parents forever!
: Your parents' money won't last forever, you know.
: Why are you streaming this early?
: Is it a collab today?
: It's rare to see an unannounced stream.
: Dude, it's only 7 AM.
As usual, I'm streaming a dungeon dive. Lately, it feels like all I do is work, go to school, or stream dungeon content. But, well, I enjoy it, so I guess it's fine... it's fun doing what you love.
"Didn't I announce it beforehand? I thought I did... Anyway, I'll post something on social media real quick."
: Forgetting things at that age already?
: Are you talking about me?
: Hey, old viewers, make sure to take care of your dementia.
: Don't underestimate dementia; you even forget that you forgot.
: It doesn't work like that, lol.
Alright, I posted it on SNS, so that's handled. Still, it's pretty quiet this early on a Saturday morning… I've had more viewers when I stream late at night. Maybe everyone in Japan is turning into a night owl? I'm a bit of a night owl myself, but I can wake up early without any issues, so it's no problem for me.
"The reason I'm streaming so early today is… I'm going to tackle a tricky dungeon, so I got myself ready."
: Tricky dungeon?
: There's nothing tricky about Shibuya Dungeon.
: Haven't you basically already conquered it?
As expected… there are very few people here. Maybe word has spread that after a certain point, it's impossible to explore further, which keeps even the locals away. Well, it's not like this is my favorite dungeon, but still.
"Ah, this is EX-ranker Tsukasa Kisaragi… Mind if I enter?"
"…EX!? Why on earth are you here!?"
"I thought it'd be fun to stream this dungeon."
"This dungeon!?"
They're really surprised... well, this is a dungeon where a few people visit each day at most, so I guess it's understandable. Even so, they've got work at the entrance to the dungeon, so they should hang in there. Maybe they're on the night shift, though.
After getting permission to stream inside the dungeon, I made my way to the entrance. Already, I could feel the dampness in the air.
"So, today, I'll be exploring the Nagoya Dungeon."
: What?
: Huh?
: Are you insane?
: Why would you go to that dungeon, lol.
: Lol.
: Isn't this what the viewers wanted?
: Weren't they always asking you to go deeper into the Nagoya Dungeon? You're so kind, Kisaragi!
: No, that's not how it works. Your journey continues at m v|l-e'-NovelBin.net
: Wait a minute!
: My brain can't keep up.
: Why would you willingly dive into such a ridiculous dungeon this early in the morning?
"Seems like it's a popular choice."
: Get your eyes checked.
: You need to get your head checked, not your eyes.
: See a psychiatrist, man.
The Nagoya Dungeon is absolutely deserted. The main reason is the structure past the 11th floor—starting from the upper levels, everything is submerged. I'll say it outright: no matter how strong a human becomes, we can't breathe underwater. Magic can do a lot, but it can't reconfigure human anatomy. So, as long as humans remain human, we can't fully conquer the Nagoya Dungeon.
"I usually avoid the Nagoya Dungeon because it's a solo dungeon by nature. But, when you want to explore alone after a string of collabs, it's perfect."
: I can't even get in there!
: This is a sign of mental breakdown.
: Why do you think you can conquer a flooded dungeon?
: Please become a legend by conquering the Nagoya Dungeon.
: Are you generating oxygen as you go?
Even though everyone's saying it's impossible, they seem curious about how I'll tackle the Nagoya Dungeon. Well, that's probably why they're watching—it's all about finding out how to beat the dungeon, right?
The Nagoya Dungeon's top levels aren't flooded, so you'd think more explorers would give it a try… but that doesn't seem to be the case. I guess the fact that you can't go past the upper levels because of the water puts people off.
The Nagoya Dungeon is near Nagoya Port, so it's easily accessible via the Nagoya City Subway. But despite the convenience, it's still not popular. I'd say it's better than some remote places, like Wakkanai, at least.
"Here we are, at the stairs leading to the 11th floor."
: I can already see water, though.
: The stairs are submerged halfway down.
: Wow, that's a beautiful water surface.
: Hurry and dive in, Kisaragi!
"Alright, let's go."
Today, I plan to reach at least the 35th floor… According to the viewers, I apparently hold the current record for the deepest dive in the Nagoya Dungeon at 34 floors. However, no one really believes that, so the 10th floor is generally considered the farthest anyone's gone. That's why I'm going to record my dive today and prove I've reached the real deepest level.
"Tenko, come forth."
I summoned Tenko, one of the Twelve Heavenly Generals. She's a stunning beauty with pastel blue hair and deep, ocean-like blue eyes. She's essential for conquering the Nagoya Dungeon.
: Wow.
: Another beautiful summon.
: He always summons beautiful women, huh?
: Is this a harem?
: Damn… I think I'll start learning Shikigami magic for my own harem.
: Good luck with that, lol.
"Do you seek my power?"
"Yes… Today's going to be a long dive."
"As you wish."
Tenko is based on the Taoist goddess Mazu, worshipped along the Chinese coast. She's prayed to for safe voyages and successful fishing. In Japan, her role is similar to the deity Ototachibana-hime. As the Shikigami I've created, Tenko's ability is to protect me from water. In other words, the submerged Nagoya Dungeon is no exception to her power.
With Tenko's magic supporting me, I step into the water that has flooded the stairs. My body sinks into the water, but I can still breathe, and the water doesn't hinder me.
: What's happening?
: Stop using methods only Kisaragi can use!
: He's unstoppable, lol.
: No wonder he can conquer it.
: At this point, water is meaningless.
: Now I don't get why he stopped at the 34th floor.
: How are you breathing?
I don't know either… Thanks to Tenko, the water isn't affecting me at all, but there shouldn't be any oxygen down here. Yet, I can still breathe… When I asked Tenko how it works, she just smiled, so I haven't given it much thought, but I'm starting to wonder how this is even possible. Maybe it's some mysterious power at work because I've summoned something divine into my body.
