Chapter 69 - -68<Illusion Casting>
Chapter 69 - -68<Illusion Casting>
Arvin looked at two of his new skills. He read their description again to understand them. Then after reading twice, he closed all of his windows. Now the time has come to start his grand plan. He needed to leave for Dwane city as soon as he can. So Arvin needed to understand his capabilities before going there. He needed to know what was he capable of and also he needed to have some sort of understanding of his new abilities.
'Loki, descriptions say that Illusion Casting is your innate skill. So must be quite an Illusionist right?'
??{It seems that you know shit about Norse Mythology.}
'Well, I have read that you were a trickster god. And that is it.' Arvin said.
{Well yes. I am a great magician, an Illusionist, and great a shapeshifter. Those three are my specialties.}
'Oh, so you could help me with this. How does Illusion work?'
{Well mana is a very complex energy. It has various properties. You will learn about them eventually, the only thing that you need to understand that mana also acts as an extension of oneself. It is like another body part of yours. And you can control it with your mind.}
'OK… Is that the reason that I can control mana inside my body?'
{Yes. When mana enters a being's body, the being leaves a trace of themselves in that mana. That trace is also called a mana signature. Every being in the universe has a unique mana signature. So any mana that has your mana signature. you can act according to your will.}
'So this is how the illusion works? I just have to send my mana in the air and visualize what I want to see?' Arvin asked.
{Yes. But you need to undertint that an illusion is just a hollow image. So you need your imagination should be precise enough to pass that hollow painting as a well-made sculpture.} Loki said.
'Understood.'
With that Arvin started emitting mana and started visualizing what he wanted to see. He knew that with his eidetic memory it would be piece of cake for him to make images or illusions that are on top of their field. It would need some practice to make increase the clarity and quality of the image. Also, it would take some time to increase the proficiency of this skill. But Arvin understood one thing that this skill would help him a lot in the future…
That day Arvin practiced the art of the illusion until there was no mana left in his body. That day, Arvin increased the proficiency of the skill from level-0 to level-1. Then the next day, Arvin asked Loki about what is the meaning of fire affinity…
{It is a very simple concept. Now, remember that different runes portray different affinities.}
'Yes.'
{So theoretically, any magus out there can draw any magic circle. That circle could have different types of runes and that magic circle would work.}
'Ok.'
{But you will observe that with the same magic circle some magicians will emit stronger power when casting a magic circle while some magicians will only be able to bring out a small amount of power with that same magic circle.}
'This is due to affinities?'
{Correct… Think of affinity as a type of women…"
'…'
{Some like big boobs while like them small. Some like big butts while some like them small.}
'…'
{A person whose affinity towards big boobs will portray a high amount of power when using a rune with an affinity of big boobs.}
'…'
{That is the simplest way I could have explained this concept to you.} Loki said nonchalantly.
'So affinity only helps us to cast strong magic with the runes which have the same affinity as us?' Arvin asked.
{Yes. Also, it gives us control over the element of that affinity.}
'Wait… What? So I can control fire now?'
{Yes in a way. Fire-based attacks from your enemies will have very little effect on you. You can control the fire that you see to some extent. But if your work on controlling the element extensively that you could also increase your affinity to such a level that it becomes a law.}
'A law?'
{Yes. Think of law as the power from which you can control the element of that law at will.}
'Hmm… Like I can control any fire? Even if it is far away from me?' Arvin asked.
{That is it. Law is a concept that is too advance for a small punk like you. Just forget about it now and focus on the task at hand.}
'Yeah, you are right. Just one another question. What is my limit of the transformation?'
{Double the time that you previously had.}
'Of all my transformation?'
{Yes.}
'Interesting.' Arvin said.
After resting for a little bit, Arvin transformed into a Corgan and started flying towards Dwane city. He made a few stops in the middle. Then he straight went towards the Cullen estate. There he found the room of Cassandra. He sneaked into the room quite easily. Then there he transformed back into his human form and waited for Cassandra in her room…
…..
Present time…
"YOU!" Cassandra said as she looked at Arvin's old burned face. She stood up from her bed and glared at Arvin…
"How the hell did you get in here?" Cassandra asked.
"Well, the door was unlocked…" Arvin said.
"This is the Cullen estate. How the hell did you sneak in here?" Cassandra asked.
"So you are more interested in knowing what tricks did I use to sneak in here? Shouldn't you be more focused on the fact that you are working with a person who is out there trying to destroy your family?" Arvin said.
"Forget about it. So what now? What are the orders from Merchant?" Cassandra asked seriously.
"Yeah about that. Your assignment is to found out more about the Cullen family's guests. Their likes, dislikes, their nature, and I will also like your take on their personalities. I am sure you will do an excellent job in this assignment." Arvin said.
"But I don't even know them personally. And they all are staying in the part of the house where I am not allowed to go." Cassandra said.
"Oh, I am sure that you will find something. I will come back in 3 days to come and find out more about your findings." Arvin said.
Then he walked out of the main door of the room. When Arvin arrived in the hallway outside Cassandra's room he instantly transformed into a fly. After turning into a fly he touched the clothes that he had left behind while transforming and put them back into inventory. Then he got out from the Cullen estate.
His next stop was a little house in the inner city. This was a small and cozy two-story house. This house although didn't have that shine and luster like the houses usually found in the inner city. But this house had a warm feeling to it. This house belonged to Claire…
Claire just had come back to her house. It was late at night. She went out to practice her sword and lost the track of time. But she was a strong woman so she didn't care much about her safety. After all, there are very few people on the entire 1st floor that could harm her. Dressed up in her silver armor, Claire just entered her, when she felt something was wrong. As she entered her house, she could hear someone mumbling a song. While there was a faint smell of roasted chicken in the air.
Claire took out her sword and slowly and quietly started walking towards the sound. She found that the sound was coming from her dining room. In the dark house with no lights on, candles were burning in only one room, that was her dining room. Around the candle was the hot piping chicken was kept with some other eatable items…
Claire was confused about who would have done this when she heard a whisper from behind her…
"Nice sword you got there," Arvin whispered.
Claire panicked after hearing the voice and swung the sword at the man that was standing behind her. But to her surprise in the middle of her swing, a very strong hand came and stopped her swinging arm. Claire now that have tuned around saw that clear face of the intruder. His face was very well known on the 1st floor. That man that attacked her was none other than Arvin who was wanted by the strongest man on the 1st floor.
"Stop this before anyone gets hurt, Miss Claire. As you might know, my name is Arvin. And I am an agent of the Merchant." Arvin said with a big smiling face.
As Claire heard the name Merchant, she relaxed her hand a little bit. Feeling that she had relaxed, Arvin let go of her hands. Then he gestured her to follow him. Arvin then like a gentleman, helped Claire to sit on a chair. He poured her some wine that he had brought earlier. He carved a few pieces of chicken and served her, while Claire continuously glared at him.
After all, she did not know whether she could trust him or not.
