Chapter 147
Chapter 147
They said they were going to go out to have some fun but they ended up just walking around the hotel once before they returned to the lobby.
The production team had reserved the hotel for the night so most of the people were still mingling in the dining hall on the 6th floor. Very few had returned to their rooms. As such, the lobby appeared very desolate.
By the time Gu Shao and Luo Xiu had returned, the only ones in the lobby were the two workers on duty and nobody else.
Gu Nian was still dispirited. "I don't want to go back to the room."
"There's a patio on the second floor. Would you like to go sit there for a little while?" asked Luo Xiu.
"– –!"
Gu Nian looked up fully charged all of a sudden and nodded forcefully.
The patio, too, was empty.
There was a small lamp post at each of the four corners. Their voltages were not high and they looked like stars that were about to fall in the wind.
A few round tables and rattan chairs scattered unevenly over the wooden deck on the patio. Nobody could be seen in sight.
As soon as Gu Nian had walked through the door to the patio at the end of the corridor, she was already heading excitedly toward the tables and chairs. This was, after all, the second floor. Luo Xiu, worried for her safety, followed behind her.
Luckily, Gu Nian was quite docile even when she was drunk. She picked and chose among the rattan chairs and finally pulled two side by side. Look up, the girl patted the back of one of them as she smiled at Luo Xiu. "Sit. Sit."
"… …"
She looked like a little seal smacking its fins together on the dock.
Luo Xiu couldn't help but lowered his eyes as he tried to contain the desire to smile in his eyes.
He picked up the suit jacket that he had dangling from his lower arm, swung it, and wrapped it around the girl. "The wind is cold at night. You don't want to catch a cold."
"I'm not cold!"
The girl sounded stubborn but she shivered as soon as she was done talking.
She went silent for two seconds then turned her head pretending that nothing had happened.
Luo Xiu lowered his smiling eyes.
The two of them had barely sat down for a few seconds before Gu Nian dragged her chair closer to Luo Xiu's and leaned on top of the round table. She cocked her head, rested it on her arm, and said, "Luo Xiu, chat with me!"
Luo Xiu was surprised.
He thought he needed to wait for a specific opportunity. He hadn't expected that Gu Nian would the first to bring it up.
Recollecting himself, Luo Xiu's lips curved upward a little. He went along with her, "What are we chatting about?"
Gu Nian said excitedly, "The script!"
Luo Xiu, "… …"
After a second or two of silence, a low, dull, and helpless chuckle could be heard in the night.
"Why did I even bother feeling hopeful about this?"
"Huh?" Gu Nian turned her head, dazed, when she heard that.
Luo Xiu asked, "Why do you wan to talk about the script again all of a sudden?"
"It's not all of a sudden," said Gu Nian, looking very seriously. "We never finished talking about the characters before the banquet!"
Had the girl not be looking at him in the semi-conscious way and her tone was a soft and nasal one that she would never use with him when she was conscious, Luo Xiu just might think that she was no longer drunk.
"You still remember your work when you are so drunk…" Luo Xiu chuckled. "What a bummer that nobody is here to name you a model worker."
"No need." Gu Nian shook her head dismissively, which made her even dizzier. She mumbled, "I am a freelance worker. We need self, self-awareness to become successful!"
"… …"
Luo Xiu's eyes flashed.
He had not plan on prying against her wish but she had offered up the opportunity to him.
As Gu Nian rubbed her dizzy brain, she heard a tempting voice next to her ear. It sounded very casual, "Have you ever been successful with such intact work ethics?"
"!"
