Chapter 199
Chapter 199
"Mmm," replied the man in a perfunctorily way without once taking his eyes off of the girl sitting across from him in front of the window. The passionate desire that was mixed in his ink-like eyes made him seeming particularly gloomy and frightful.
The producer who brought Gu Nian and the others up hesitated for a little and said in a low voice, "The meeting doesn't end for another 30 minutes or so, how are you already……"
Without taking his eyes off of Gu Nian at all, Zheng Haolei said casually, "Oh, that reminded me. I told them I was going to the bathroom and I never went back –– Go and have them carry on without me."
"Huh?" The producer asked with a bitter smile, "Would that be inappropriate?"
"Inappropriate how?"
"What if you are needed to make some important decisions?"
"What are you guys for if there are important matters that could only be decided during the meeting?" The man finally looked away and looked over at the producer with a gloomy look. "Besides, I like Ms. Gu's earlier suggestion a lot. We can consider recording our meetings from now in the audio or video form. That way I can always look at them later."
"Okay……"
The producer knew that this crown prince of the company was being unreasonable again. There was nothing he could do other than smile and agree with him.
The seat in the middle was dragged out with an ear-piercing noise. The man sat down some half a meter from the conference room table at the spot near the door in this very narrow conference room.
He looked back at Gu Nian once again and, without blinking, said, "Alright. I thought Ms. Gu was eager to move onto the PPT. Aren't you going to start?"
"……"
Gu Nian, with the remote control held tightly in hand, told herself three times that "it was just a talking trashcan sitting across from me" before she turned away coldly.
The electronic curtains closed slowly in front of the long windows.
Under only the light coming from the projector, the girl stood up and lifted the remote control in her hand. The PPT started on the screen accompanied by her soft and gentle voice.

"…… Mr. Luo, this is the basic information that I have so far with regards to the Mengzhi incident back then."
Sitting inside a private tea room inside the top floor of a high-end apartment building, a man closed up a file folder in in his hand and looked across from him with a serious look.
There was a redwood chair next to the window with dim and shallow patterns carved into it. Sitting in the chair was a man in casual clothes, his hair falling them casually, and his look tender and harmless.
After listening to the only sound inside the room, he paused for a while before he turned back around and said in a low voice, "So, the entire incident of Mengzhi retiring from the circle and withdrawing from school were all self-directed and self-performed by Zheng Haolei."
"I'm afraid so." The man, sitting in front of the low table, hesitated for a little bit before he said, "But we are still looking into the reasons behind it. We have yet to locate anyone else that was associated with the incident, as such……"
"Why haven't you found that out yet?"
The man paused a little, then said, "Because Miss Gu signing with Dingke Media as Mengzhi was only single-sided words from Dingke. We are unable to prove it one way or another. Miss Gu, at the time, worked alone and there was no teams or agents that we can approach……"
"What about the fiancée?"
"What?"
The man looked up, dazed, and met the dim eyes that were covered up quickly by a tender smile in front of the bright light from the window. "If he was the one who orchestrated the entire incident, then go look for that fake fiancée that made a scene at Gu Nian's school."
The man recollected himself. "But she never showed up in front of Zheng Haolei afterward. She might be someone hired on on a temporary basis. She might not necessarily know of the entire story."
"Even if she didn't come into contact with Zheng Haolei directly, she was still contacted by someone."
Getting his point, the man lowered his head. "Alright, I will follow that lead."
The room turned silent.
