Chapter 118: Hang Bao Festival 4!

Chapter 118: Hang Bao Festival 4!

Zhang Yuan turned to Ning Xia who was on his lap and uttered "Xia... can you get down for a while... I need to go and meet someone."

Ning Xia raised her head to look at him and asked "Now, husband?"

"Yeah..."

With a nod, Ning Xia got down from his lap and Zhang Yuan stood up from the bench, stretching his arms with a sigh.

Seeing him, Zhang Fumin raised an eyebrow and asked "Yuan, are you going somewhere?"

Zhang Yuan turned to look at her and nodded his head "Yeah, I will be back in a while..."

*flick* With that he disappeared from there, leaving them dumbfounded.

"Woah, Husband... disappeared."

Zhang Fumin took a deep breath and glanced at Zhang Ming who was beside her "I am glad... you are back, Mother."

Nodding her head with a smile, Zhang Ming turned to look at Ning Xia and giggled "Thank you Xia for always taking care of Min'er...."

Ning Xia hurriedly shook her head and bowed "N-No, madam... it is my duty to serve and take good care of her."

...

*flick* Zhang Yuan appeared in the sky and looked down at the palace glowing under the faint glow of the moonlight.

His gaze fell on a room's terrace and he landed on it.

As he walked towards the door, the door disappeared and he entered in "Fei..."

Xiangli Fei who was lying on the bed was startled and instantly stood up on the bed as a blue sword appeared in her hand.

However, seeing Zhang Yuan, she was surprised and a mutter escaped her lips "Brother Yuan?"

She retracted her sword into her storage ring and got down from the bed.

Only then did Zhang Yuan glance at the skimpy night clothes she was wearing, accentuating her exquisite curves.

Xiangli Fei also realized the clothes she was wearing and averted her gaze, a slight blush forming on her cheeks "Brother Yuan..."

Zhang Yuan turned around and prepared to leave "I shall wait outside.. wear something."

"No, Brother Yuan..." Xiangli Fei took the bed sheet and wrapped it around her shoulder hiding her body.

Seeing this, Zhang Yuan smiled and sat on the chair inside the room as she settled on the bed.

"Brother Yuan... why did you come to meet me at this time of the night?" Xiangli Fei asked, curiosity dancing in her eyes.

"I couldn't see you during the festival... so I came to check up on you."

Hearing this, Xiangli Fei sighed "It is because my mother has kept me locked in this house since yesterday."

Zhang Yuan raised an eyebrow and asked "For what?"

Xiangli Fei shook her head "I am not sure... but yesterday, she began to blame for the commotion in the arena."

"If only I won, none of this could have happened."

"She completely lost it and I am afraid... she is slowly losing her mind."

Taking a deep breath, she continued "She even placed guards outside here and around my room, so I would not escape from here."

At this time, Zhang Yuan noticed the red marks on her cheek in the dim light of the room and asked "Fei, she... beat you?"

Upon hearing this, Xiangli Fei nodded her head "En... apparently she tried to talk with my father, but my father was not in the state to listen to her."

"So I guess she took her anger on me."

"Well, I have been receiving her beatings since I was young, so I have gotten used to it."

Zhang Yuan got up from his seat and walked close to her, as he extended his hand, his fingers softly caressing her cheek.

Feeling the rejuvenating energy rushing inside her body, Xiangli Fei smiled "So... this is how you healed me yesterday."

With a nod, Zhang Yuan retracted his hand and stepped out of the room, walking to the terrace.

As she stood up to follow him, she glanced down at the bedsheet that was covering her body.

She raised her gaze to look at the back of Zhang Yuan and a red flush painted across her face as the bed sheet slipped down her shoulders.

Zhang Yuan turned toward Xiangli Fei, who had just come up beside him, her face illuminated by the soft glow of moonlight.

With a warm smile, he asked, "Shall we light up lanterns for the Hang Bao festival?"

Xiangli Fei's eyes widened with a pleasant surprise. "Brother Yuan, you brought the materials?" she asked her voice a mixture of excitement and curiosity.

"En," he nodded.

From his storage ring, Zhang Yuan took the materials for creating the lanterns.

Bright paper in rich shades of red and gold, delicate silk threads, and wooden frames all appeared in front of them.

Xiangli Fei's heart fluttered with excitement as she looked at the materials, her face lighting up with a childlike joy.

"Brother Yuan…" she began, her voice soft and full of emotion, "let's make lanterns together."

Without hesitation, Xiangli Fei knelt on the terrace and Zhang Yuan joined her, kneeling close as they laid out the materials between them.

Under the night sky, the quiet rustling of paper filled the air as the two worked side by side.

Xiangli Fei's fingers were quick and nimble, guiding the paper into elegant shapes while Zhang Yuan deftly tied the frames together, his movements strong yet gentle.

The minutes passed in silence, only broken by the occasional flutter of the cool breeze.

Xiangli Fei glanced at Zhang Yuan from time to time, a small smile dancing on her lips as they worked in accord.

She could feel a sense of peace settle over her, the quiet joy of creating something beautiful together with Zhang Yuan.

After some time, five delicate lanterns were prepared in front of them.

Xiangli Fei's eyes sparkled as she giggled softly, and turned to Zhang Yuan, who watched her with a gentle smile.

"Brother Yuan," she said softly, "they're beautiful."

Zhang Yuan nodded, his heart warm as he watched her happiness bloom like a flower in the night.

With careful hands, Xiangli Fei began lighting the lanterns one by one. The soft flicker of flames illuminated her face, casting a warm glow over her features.

She handled each lantern with care, making sure everyone was perfect before letting them go.

The first lantern rose slowly into the night, its glow a tiny speck in the vast sky. Then came the second, third, fourth… each one floating higher, glowing brighter.

As the fifth lantern ascended, Xiangli Fei stood and watched them fly upwards, her eyes following their steady rise.

The lanterns danced in the breeze, glowing against the dark night of the sky.

Zhang Yuan stood beside her, his gaze lifted toward the sky as well, the soft light reflecting in his eyes.
