Chapter 162 - Baking With Senpai?
Chapter 162 - Baking With Senpai?
I was gazing outside the window with my chin resting on my palms. My eyes were gazing blankly at the bright summer sky. I sighed, as it was again Monday and usually the start of the week was always nonchalant.
It was one of those free intervals between classes as everyone was moving around and talking with each other. I shifted my gaze to the front of the class and noticed that my friends were talking with each other, while I was lazing around on my chair.
I was actually not feeling great enough to join in on their conversation. I have been under quite some stress since last week regarding my relationship with Naoto. Though it seemed as if it was moving forward, I found myself in a rather stagnant position.
Last few weeks, things haven't been the smoothest between us, but after the conversation between us last Friday, she actually seemed to be getting quite friendly with me as we exchanged numbers.
Apparently, we didn't exchange it; she asked for my number from Yuna. Having the contact of the girl you perceive as your love interest is quite the progression in my eyes. And we have been texting back and forth since then.
"Ayo! Sakamaki!" In the midst of all the surrounding noise, I heard a loud voice of my classmate calling out my name.
I turned my gaze towards the direction of the voice and looked around for a few moments, as it was hard to tell who called since everyone was moving around. Noticing a classmate standing near the doorway looking at me intently, I replied, assuming it's him, "What?"
"Some girl wants to talk to you!" He yelled over literally half of the class away as the mention of a girl made a few eyes turn towards me.
With a frown on my face and confused tone, I asked, "Who?"
"Get your ass over here, you lazy bum!" Giving me a sharp look, he yelled as I sighed and got up from my seat, "Ooof!"
I walked towards the front doorway and as I reached there I noticed my classmate looking at me with a smug face as he asked, "Who's this Sakamaki?"
I walked near the doorway and looked outside asking, "Who?"
"You're getting girls now, huh?" He chuckled as he patted my shoulder and gave him a dumbfounded look as I said, "I do not know what you're talking about."
Then my gaze shifted towards her. Under the brightly lit hallway stood the figure of Naoto, who was holding a bag in her hand. Her dark eyes slowly shifted towards me, but the expression on her face remained as unfazed as it was. I wasn't actually expecting her to come, "Naoto...Senpai?"
"Yea… Hi there!" She waved at me with her left hand and walked towards me.
My classmate who was standing next to me looked at her then towards me and commented, "I can't believe you're talking with girls…"
"Oh, shut up…"
"Man's stepped up his game, huh?" He chuckled as he walked past me and Naoto came to a stop right in front of me.
Looking at her standing in silence, I asked, "So… what is it?"
And since I wasn't expecting her to suddenly visit me, I assumed she must have had something important to say, "It's weird to see you here…"
The corner of her lips raised a bit as she tilted her head and asked, "It's weird to look at me? Am I that ugly?"
Narrowing my eyes at her, I showed her my palm and said in a vague tone, "Don't…"
"Just kidding…" She chuckled a bit, as I again asked her, "So what is that made Senpai walk all over to my class? I hope it's something important."
It was not like her sudden visit disturbed me or anything. I was just curious to know why she came all the way to my floor to visit me.
She pouted and in a disappointed tone, she asked, "You forgot?"
"Huh?" I was really confused at that point, but rather than asking her anything, I didn't say anything and let her continue.
Resting her arms on her waist, she leaned towards me. With a little frown formed on her face, she continued, "Areh! Last night we're talking, remember? And I said that I was baking some cake?"
As soon as those words left her mouth, I pretty much got an idea of what she was talking about and why she came to my class. I looked at her in astonishment as I said, "Don't tell me you actually bought some for me."
She slowly nodded her head, as she took out a box wrapped in cute paper and handed it over to me with her usual plain expression, "I did… here!"
I was holding it in my hand while I looked at her with a confused expression as I said, "Oh… I didn't think you would seriously bring me some."
Last night when she said that she was baking a cake, I told her to bring me some. But that was meant as a complete joke. I wasn't even serious about it. That's why I was surprised by the fact that she actually gave me some.
With a small smile, she tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear and chuckled, "Well, I couldn't just ignore my Kouhai's request…"
Narrowing my eyes at her sarcastic tone, I said, "And since when are you this considerate of me?"
She pointed towards her and with an innocent look she asked, "Huh? I'm considerate… what do you mean?"
I just shook my head from left to right because it was rare to see her being sarcastic. Giving me a smile, she said, "Anyway, the next class will be starting soon, so I'll take my leave."
As I was walking away from me, I called her out for the last time, "Senpai…"
"Hmm?" She turned back at me and looked at me with curious eyes as I said, "Thanks for the cake…"
Giving me a small nod, she continued her walk, and soon her figure disappeared around the corner.. Receiving something from the girl you like was quite the feat, so I was a bit happy that my progression with her was going smoothly after all.
