Soul for a Girlfriend?

Chapter 209 - Commitments?

Chapter 209 - Commitments?

"Because of him?" He slowly looked at me with a downcast in his eyes, and asked in a low voice, as Shiraishi nodded with a slight smile and he clenched his jaws in irritation as he said, "He looks like he doesn't even have friends."

"You don't have to expose me like that…" I said nervously, as I could feel the blonde one's gaze on me. She appeared quite suspicious of me. Also, what Shig wasn't wrong in the first place as it did appear like I had no friends.

"See… your someone better, is this loser?" As I agreed with him, he said in a convincing tone as Shiraishi seemed to be at a loss for words, "Uhh…"

"That you don't even know the name of?" He added as Shiraishi finally decided to walk towards me. With a soft smile on her face, she said, "Those trivial things could be done later."

.

Shig stood there in silence as he watched Shiraishi walk up to me and stand next to me with exasperated eyes. He turned towards the blonde girl and yelled at her, "Moriko! You have nothing to say here?"

I never understood why people always get so desperate to hold on to something that is not meant to be theirs. If Shiraishi were to be faithful to him, she would've been either way. He wouldn't have to beg like that, putting his self respect on the line.

"I don't… it's a matter between you two so it's not my place to speak." Moriko said as she raised her hands from this matter, because it was the wise thing to do. It's always ideal to not get yourself involved in situations like that.

"You can't… was something lacking in me?" He asked, but Shiraishi just kept looking at him without uttering a single word. Being irritated by her silent treatment, he burst out, "Did I not treat you right?"

"No… you actually treated me quite well.." She answered quite honestly as there was no hesitation in her voice. Shig looked at her with depreciating eyes, and started in a low volume, "I'm so… I gave you so many chances…"

"Still… you kept cheating on me! Do my feelings don't matter to you!?" He said, his voice shaking as the scene was really pathetic to watch. Shiraishi shook her head from left to right and said, "Listen… your feelings did matter. I didn't mean to hurt you… that's why…"

"What is it?!" He shot back at her with such aggression as it appeared like he would punch her any second now. Moriko was getting a bit concerned as she lightly stepped forward, prepared to barge in on them if something happened.

"Why are you leaving me then!?" He asked, but Shiraishi said nothing. Looking at her face, I couldn't tell whether or not she was feeling bad about this, but she was keeping quiet. Shig sighed in pure frustration and added, "Is it because I don't let you sleep with other…"

Shiraishi immediately cut him off to present her own point, "Listen! It's not like that. I did care for you."

It appeared like whenever he would say 'sleep around' it worked as a trigger for Shiraishi because she would always respond to that. I slightly glanced at Moriko, who had an annoyed look on her face. It appeared that even her own friend was tired of her.

I wouldn't blame any of them for it. Because I couldn't expect Moriko as her best friend trying to defend her even if she was the wrong one, which she clearly was in that case. Of course I would expect Moriko to take her side when she cheated on her partner and was crazy enough to casually accept it instead of denying the fact.

"And each moment I spent with you was really great, too. But I just got bored with it." She said, but what caught his attention was the last word she said as he looked at her with a wry smile and asked, "Bored?"

"You're no fun anymore." Shiraishi answered, nodding her head, as the boy was quite confused about his predicament. He stared at her with a frown and a delicate smile, which was somehow still on his lips, as he uttered the word, "F..fun?"

Shiraishi and Shig stared at each other for a while as silence enveloped our surroundings. They seemed to be in their own world. I glanced at the blondie as she was looking at me curiously, but averted her eyes as soon as I looked at her.

Shig was standing there with disbelief in his eyes as somehow he wanted to laugh all of this off, but it was a rather difficult thing. Catching onto his gaze, Shiraishi called out to him as his blank eyes shifted towards and she continued, "See, if I gave you the same dish to eat every day would you like it?"

Asking that question, she looked at Shig with anticipation in her eyes as Shig just stared at her in awe and Morika face palmed herself. She was using a strange metaphor, if I wasn't wrong, as Shig opened his mouth in disbelief and continued, "You're comparing relationships with food?"

"Yes…" She replied instantly with a confident nod as they both kept staring at each other and Shig finally got fed up but instead of yelling at her like he was doing till then, he took a deep breath and asked her in a low and calm voice, "So commitments mean nothing to you? At the end of the day, this was just a joke for you?"

"No, it wasn't… Shig…" Shiraishi shook her head to disagree with him as he looked directly into her eyes and Shiraishi's smile was slowly fading away as he said in a deep voice, "Don't call me Shig, please."

It seemed like the gravity of the situation was finally setting upon her as a stern look formed on her face and narrowing her eyes, she looked slightly away from him and mumbled in an irritated tone, "Jeez… you want me to continue a half-assed relationship then?"
