Speed Is King

Chapter 123

Chapter 123

The giant Belcher burst out of the ground like a volcanic eruption.

BLAARRKK!!!

Its fifteen meter wide maw engulfed the smaller Belcher’s head and snapped shut with a devastatingly loud CRUNCH!

It ignored the startled Aldera who had leapt off and flown quickly away from the scene and continued to munch and shake its massive head wildly as it killed and ate its own son.

“ALDERA!” Rom shouted. “Are you alright?!”

“I’m fine! Don’t worry. I didn’t even get to use my new Wolf God’s Blessings skill.” Aldera replied in the public mindspace. “But the Belcher I was trying to disable is… well. Half-dead?”

“No, it’s dead.” Elliot said grimly. He had already received the long list of level up notifications. “Don’t worry about it. Let’s focus our attention on our final target. All of you, give it your all. Attack!”

Once more, Elliot’s beasts charged forward. Thankfully, the Belcher was extremely distracted and was greedily eating his own son to bother escaping or even fighting back. Its preoccupation with its disgusting cannibalism allowed Elliot’s beast to unleash their initial hammer blow perfectly.

The first to reach the Belcher’s half exposed body were the two Giant Armored Mammoths. Although extremely large, their attacks did not even leave a dent on the Belcher’s powerful armor. The only thing they did was to claim the Belcher’s attention and buy time for the real damage dealers to attack their selected sections.

The next attacks arrived almost at the same time.

Rom’s Fireblast, Aldera’s Azure Lightning Blast, Frosty’s Venomous Glacial Beam and Elliot’s own Azure Lightning Blast all hit the Belcher’s remaining eye perfectly in a huge explosion.

BAM!!

GRRRRRRRRR!!!

The Belcher let out a fearsome growl of anger, but it ignored the powerful attack and continued to chomp down on its son’s dead body.

“It’s betting everything on its level up to Emperor Level!” Elliot realized.

“Attack with your most powerful attacks! NOW! Before it levels up to Emperor Level!” Elliot shouted as he landed on the Belcher’s neck and began a furious physical assault on it.

SLICE!

His Transport/Fighter released its sharp spikes and began to spin rapidly, slicing and dicing the Belcher from within.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Wu Kong was landing hit after hit on the Belcher’s neck armor. His attacks were so fast that his movements were nothing more than a blur.

GRRRRRRRR!!!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

The Belcher grunted in pain as the attacks Elliot and his beasts were dealing gradually began to pierce through its armor.

Rom and Aldera were the only King Level beasts in the group, and they showed their power by rending out a huge chunk of the Belcher’s body within a few seconds of frenzied combo attack.

“Attack here!” Rom called out to the other beasts as he leapt away from the hole he just made and began to attack another portion of the beast’s armor to destroy it.

Brock and Ellie immediately took Rom’s place and began to enlarge the hole he made enthusiastically.

“This beast stupid!” Ellie remarked as she slashed at the gaping wound with all her strength before biting down to pump huge amounts of poison into the Belcher.

“It’s gambling. It must think that it’s really close to Emperor level to disregard its defenses so completely this way. Keep attacking! Don’t let up!” Elliot told his beasts slightly nervously. Somehow, his sixth sense was beginning to tingle in a strange way.

“Hey pip. I’m detecting a huge amount of energy within this Corrupted Sedgedoom Belcher. I don’t really know much about Belchers, but the energy seemed to be divided into two and they don’t seem to mesh very well.” Red said in the public mindspace.

“They don’t MESH very well? What do you mean? Be specific!” Elliot immediately responded.

“There’s a huge, and I mean HUGE, amount of life energy here, and it’s nourishing the Belcher’s body, making it stronger and bigger. It’s slowly reducing in size because of all the damage we’re dealing, but it’s REALLY slow. I doubt we’ll be able to kill it quickly.

But at the same time, there’s a growing amount of black energy here too. I think its death energy or something. The two energies are currently separated, but the black energy is growing really fast and they are running out of room. At this rate, the two energies will collide soon.”

“Collide?” Elliot’s instinct began to blare loudly at the mention of that word.

There was no hesitation. That instinct had saved him countless times, and he immediately listened to it.

“All of you, return!” Elliot ordered as he dismissed his beasts.

Whoosh!!

The Belcher went from being almost literally buried in beasts to being totally free in a blink of an eye.

Elliot leapt away from it and began to distance himself.

One hundred meters.

Two hundred meters.

Six hundred meters.

Seven hundred meters.

“What’s going on?” Red demanded loudly in the public mindspace. “I thought we want to tame that Belcher to look for the strange and powerful substance?”

Eight hundred meters.

“Does he ever keep quiet?” Aldera asked the other beasts. “No offence, Red. I’m just wondering. You’ve never really stopped talking in our private Beast Space ever since I joined.”

Nine hundred meters.

“There’s a private Beast Space?” Elliot asked, feeling rather amused. “Like a chat group?”

“Yes. I made it.” Red said proudly. “It’s a place for us to complain about you and to discuss how we want to split your inheritance once you die.”

“Pffft. Too bad for you, I have no inheritance to speak of.” Elliot chuckled and shook his head helplessly.

“Oh don’t worry. You’ll get tons of treasure when you win the Games. And no offense taken, Aldera. I love to talk. That’s just how I am. And to answer your question, no, I’ll never ever stop tal-“

And then everything went black for Elliot..
