Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Want to Borrow Money? No Way!
After chatting with Han Kexin for a few more lines, Wu Wei closed their chat.
He then opened the chat with Sun Yi and began talking to her.
After all, for him, the little beauty was just a tool, and Sun Yi, his White Moonlight, was his true love.
The two of them were in the throes of a flirtatious phase, and once they started talking that day, they couldn't stop exchanging words.
They talked until past one am and were reluctant to end the conversation, until Wu Wei brought up that she had work the next day, and they finally stopped.
After wishing each other good night, Wu Wei put down his phone, headed to the bathroom, and started to shower while pondering.
He had hit a bottleneck with increasing Sun Yi's affection, and it seemed unlikely there would be much progress in the short term.
As for Han Kexin, an 18-year-old girl, she was simple-minded and had a naïve charm, which should make her relatively easy to impress.
He was still very confident in that regard.
However, he couldn't just rely solely on her.
What if, like with Sun Yi, he hit a bottleneck at some stage? Wouldn't that be the end of it?
So, he couldn't put all his eggs in one basket!
He had to find more trees to climb to ensure he could get that first cashback as soon as possible.
There was still a week until he would meet the little beauty, and he couldn't just wait around that long.
He had a date with Sun Yi in the evening, and he could use the free time during the day to look for other goddesses to conquer.
First, of course, were the beauties from the various colleges and universities in Jicheng!
Thus, Wu Wei decided that he would start his search at Qilu Normal University the next day!
However, his plans were interrupted by a phone call from Sun Yi just as he had finished washing up and was about to grab some breakfast.
"Wu Wei, can you come over now?"
Sun Yi's voice sounded noticeably anxious over the phone.
"I can, where are you?"
Wu Wei's heart skipped a beat and he hurriedly asked, "What's wrong, your voice sounds off?"
"Well, I hit someone's car!"
Hearing Wu Wei's voice, Sun Yi immediately felt much more at ease, "People nearby said that the car looks quite expensive. I might have to pay a lot."
"Money is a small issue, don't worry about it."
When Wu Wei heard that Sun Yi had been in an accident, he was taken aback and immediately asked with concern, "Are you okay?"
"I... I'm not hurt."
Feeling his immediate concern for her well-being, Sun Yi was deeply moved.
"It's good you're okay. Turn on your location on WeChat, and I'll be there immediately."
Wu Wei hung up the phone and immediately took a taxi downstairs, heading towards Sun Yi's location.
The scene of the accident wasn't far from his hotel; it took just over ten minutes to arrive.
Wu Wei got out of the car and immediately spotted Sun Yi sitting awkwardly on the curb by the roadside.
There was a crowd of onlookers, with most people gathered around a blue sedan parked by the roadside, pointing and discussing excitedly.
The car looked very much like Porsche's Taycan.
Next to the car lay Sun Yi's little electric scooter, with its front part completely smashed.
Wu Wei walked straight towards Sun Yi and, while checking her up and down, asked, "How are you, not injured?"
Seeing Wu Wei arrive, the dullness in Sun Yi's eyes instantly brightened.
The anxiety she had been holding onto finally settled.
She shook her head at Wu Wei, "No, just twisted my ankle a bit."
"You twisted your ankle and you're not hurt?"
Wu Wei said with some blame, "Which foot, and how serious is it?"
"Both ankles are sprained, but neither is serious."
As Sun Yi spoke, she tried to stand up to prove it.
However, as soon as she exerted herself, she hissed in pain and inhaled sharply.
"You really are stubborn."
Wu Wei steadied her with one hand, sighing helplessly yet affectionately, "You definitely need to get that checked at the hospital."
As Wu Wei was speaking, a tall man about 1.8 meters tall, probably around thirty-five years old, approached from the crowd and spoke to him aggressively, "You're her boyfriend, right? Your girlfriend crashed into my car, you see to it!"
Wu Wei was initially annoyed by his tone, but upon being referred to as Sun Yi's boyfriend, he suddenly felt much better about the man.
He silently gave him kudos in his mind: Well done!
The tall man continued, "My car was properly parked on the side of the road, and your girlfriend, riding an electric scooter, crashed straight into it, knocking off my rearview mirror and denting the car door!"
"Is that so?" Wu Wei turned to Sun Yi and asked.
Sun Yi nodded grimly, "I was planning to go around the left side of his car, but unexpectedly a vehicle came speeding from the opposite direction, almost hitting me. I got scared and swerved, and that's when I crashed into this car."
After hearing Sun Yi's story, Wu Wei couldn't help but be somewhat amused and exasperated.
But he had personally experienced Sun Yi's electric scooter driving skills these past days.
It was no surprise at all that an accident had occurred.
"Alright, let me have a look at your car."
Walking towards the left front side of the blue sedan, Wu Wei indeed saw that the left rearview mirror was gone, and both the left front and rear doors had large dents caving inward, with a good amount of paint scraped off as well.
This was a fairly serious collision, and the cost for repairs and replacement would definitely not be cheap.
Wu Wei turned back to the car owner and said, "It's our fault for the accident, we will compensate whatever is due. Just quote a price!"
The car owner was surprised that Wu Wei was so easy to talk to.
From his dress, he didn't seem like someone with a lot of money!
Could he be unaware of how expensive my car is, thinking a few hundred or a thousand would suffice?
"Young man, let me be frank with you, this car is a modified Porsche Taycan 4S, the on-road price is over 1.4 million. The rearview mirror and the car paint are both special options; repairs and replacements are not cheap."
The car owner spoke to Wu Wei seriously, "And after your girlfriend's crash, my car is now considered to be in an accident, depreciating by at least tens of thousands! Seeing you both are young, I won't be asking for much, just a flat rate of 100,000 yuan!"
100,000 yuan!
Hearing that she would need to compensate so much, Sun Yi's eyes widened in shock, her complexion instantly paling.
She had never imagined that her accident would result in such a huge loss!
Her heart was pounding violently, and her body began to tremble slightly.
There was no way she could afford such an amount.
Asking her family for it was out of the question; she feared worrying her parents.
The only option was to borrow from Wu Wei.
So, with a bit of embarrassment, she said to Wu Wei, "Wu Wei, can you lend me a hundred thousand yuan? I will definitely pay you back once I start working!"
Hearing Sun Yi's request, Wu Wei turned to look at her, then simply smiled, "You want to borrow money? No way!"
With that, he turned his head away.
Upon hearing his response, Sun Yi was taken aback, her face quickly filling with disappointment.
She had thought that, given their current relationship, combined with their old schoolmates' bond, Wu Wei would certainly agree to lend her the money without hesitation.
Yet, contrary to her expectations, his refusal was immediate and without hesitation.
Just as she was feeling bewildered, she heard Wu Wei say to the car owner, "Fine, 100,000 is 100,000. I'll pay for my girlfriend!"
In that moment, she was stunned.
