Chapter 216 Special Elements
Chapter 216 Special Elements
Soon after the workers from the church arrived at the warehouse, Eisen instructed them on what they needed to do for the day. The first thing that they did was to finish off the masts by smoothing the surfaces down properly, while Eisen and some of the people with the highest woodworking skill began to work on the upper spines of the boat.
Cutting into the wood with smooth motions, Eisen prepared the outline as best as he could and then began to work on one half with the help of a few, while others started to work on the other half. And so, they managed to get the second piece done relatively quickly, while the next people already started smoothing the part that was just carved out, giving the others the chance to continue working on the next piece. They continued for quite a while, during which not much truly happened. They just began working on the individual parts that would go along the underside of the ship.
The group that was working on the planks was also making a good bit of progress, as they were already about three-quarters of the way done. It was quite probable that they would finish by evening, and as such would be able to help make the other parts by tomorrow.
And a few hours later, while Eisen’s group was working on the last spine piece, a rather unexpected notification popped up in front of the old man.
[Lesser Myconid Druid Caria’s skill reached Rank 2, making it possible for her to receive an element]
[Do you want to choose the element?]
[Empress Bee Melissa’s Skill reached Rank 2, making it possible for her to receive an element]
[Do you want to choose the element?]
Surprised, Eisen read through these notifications and set them to the side for a second. "You guys, continue carving this piece out, I need to take care of something else for a minute." The old man in his Titan-Demon form explained to the other workers before he placed his tools to the side and swiftly made his way over to where the two little monster girls who were practicing magic with Aotori.
"Hey, there you two! So you managed to do it, huh?" Eisen asked with a smirk as he squatted down and looked at the two girls, who looked at Eisen with bright, happy smiles.
"Mhm! Caria and Melly’s skills ranked up at the same time!" Caria happily exclaimed as she threw her arms into the air. With a relieved smile, Eisen placed his hands on the top of their heads. He was unsure whether they would be able to Rank their Mana Manipulation up to two in order to receive the element, but luckily enough, that didn’t seem to be an issue after all.
However, it seemed to be just as Jyuuk explained to him, and that they had to get a proper base up for magic before doing so, considering that they both had a direct mana-related skill that ranked up at roughly the same time as when Eisen got the notifications.
"Alright, then let me take a look here, alright?" Eisen said as he smiled and chose first to take a look at Caria’s possible elements, only because it popped up first.
[You can choose between These Elements for Caria]
-[Earth]
-[Fire]
-[Water]
-[Wind]
-[Light]
-[Dark]
[Due to Caria’s nature, derived from her actions so far, two elements have been found to suit her best, and are recommended to be selected from]
-[Earth]
-[Water]
[Due to Caria’s Race, a unique combination has been found from her recommended elements]
-[Mushroom Forest]
With a smile, Eisen carefully read through the information that was just given to him before turning to the little girl. "Alright, so, there are of course the six base elements, right? Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Light, and Dark, but it’s recommended that you use Earth or Water. But besides that, you also received a unique combination called ’Mushroom Forest.’ Would you like to have that combination as your magic element?" Eisen asked her, trying to explain everything in a way that she would understand him.
"Hmm... Mushroom Forest? Caria is a Mushroom, right?" She asked, tilting her head to the side with her eyes closed and her hand against her chin as if she was thinking about something hard before Eisen slowly chuckled.
"Yes, a Myconid is a type of humanoid Mushroom." He answered her before Caria then swiftly nodded her head. "Okay! Then Caria wants that! Caria wants a forest of Carias!" She yelled out, once more throwing her hands into the air like before, while Eisen laughed and chose that option for the element.
[Lesser Myconid Druid Caria’s Magic Element has been assigned]
With a smile, Eisen then placed his hand on the Myconid’s cap, while she began to try and figure out how to make that Caria forest already. And then, Eisen turned to Melissa.
"Alright, now to you. You can probably choose from the same six base elements, so I’ll move straight onto the recommended.
[Due to Melissa’s nature, derived from her actions so far, two elements have been found to best suit to her, and are recommended to be selected from]
-[Dark]
-[Light]
[Due to Melissa’ Race, a unique combination has been found from her recommended elements]
-[Hive]
"Oh? The ’Hive’ element?" Eisen muttered in surprise, not really seeing how that fit in with the ’Dark’ and ’Light’ elements, but accepting it as such. Xenia might be able to tell him why that was the case, and considering that it was undoubtedly the case, he couldn’t do anything about it and just told Melissa the possible choices. "So, do you want the Hive element?" Eisen asked her, and Melissa nodded her head near to immediately, only muttering out "Hive!" happily.
As such, Eisen didn’t want to disappoint her and chose to give her the element.
[Empress Bee Melissa’s Magic Element has been assigned]
"Alright, good job, you two," Eisen told them, swiftly ignoring the notification telling him his taming had ranked up so that he could look at it later, and happily smiled at them, before turning around to Xenia who was standing not too far from them. "Hey, Xenia! Come over here for a second, alright?" Eisen asked before the High-Elf quite swiftly did as asked.
"Yup? What’s up?" She asked as she looked up at the huge man in front of her, while Eisen turned around and look at the two little girls behind him. "These two finally managed to rank their mana manipulation up to two, and I just assigned their elements. Caria has ’Mushroom Forest,’ and Melissa has the ’Hive’ element." He explained, already seeing that Xenia was getting quite curious at what those elements would end up looking like before Eisen continued to explain the reason why he asked her to come over. "Could you maybe teach them how to use it? Just a little bit, so that they can infuse their mana into their element." He inquired before she nodded her head immediately and looked down at the two girls with a slightly inappropriate expression, albeit not the type that would make you want to lock Xenia up for looking at them in that manner.
"Oh, and just curious... The hive element was a combo of dark and light... do you know why?" Eisen asked her before she began to be even more excited than before. "Oh! Conceptual magic!" She exclaimed surprised before Eisen looked at her with a bit of confusion.
"Ah, erm... You see because Light and Dark obviously can’t mix. That’s because they’re more like direct opposites of each other. So since a combination would be basically impossible, except in a few cases where some people have a gradient element like yours, basically any type of magic that doesn’t fit toward any other element is assigned as a combination of Light and Dark. For example, my Elemental Spirit Magic is a combination of Light and Dark as well, because it doesn’t deal with the elements directly, but rather with spirits, which don’t have an assigned element to them. So the Hive element is probably more conceptual and complicated as it seems right now." Xenia explained, happily looking down at the little empress bee, before turning her eyes to the Myconid Druid next to her.
"Well, at least Caria’s element seems quite straightforward. I’m guessing it’s a variation of regular Nature magic, so her recommended elements were Earth and Water, right?" She asked, and Eisen slowly nodded his head.
"That’s right, yeah. Well, thanks for the explanation, anyway. I hope you can figure Melissa’s element out a little bit, then. Oh, and how’s the figurehead going that you and Evalia were working on together?" Eisen asked before Xenia turned around and looked at the Artist at work. "Actually, pretty great. We ended up going for a Dragon Design, and after I told Evalia about the three-dimensional enchantment I wanted to make, for a little bit of a special effect, and she managed to work it in with her design immediately. There are actually parts where I’m supposed to refine some edges with the carvings for the enchantment to finish the piece, and others where the enchantment is worked into the scales. It’s pretty impressive, to be honest with you." She explained, and Eisen laughed loudly in response.
"Well, what do you expect, she’s the Original of Artistry and a world-famous artist. We should expect no less from her." Eisen smiled as he began to make his way back to the area where everyone was working on the parts for the ship, turning around once more toward Xenia. "Anyway, thanks a lot again!" He told her and soon joined the others with the making of the last piece for the underside-support.
"Good job, you lot!" The old man laughed loudly, brightly smiling at everyone as he turned around and began to prepare some of the rest of the wood to be carved into the ’ribs’ of the ship, of which quite a lot were needed. It would probably take at least the rest of this day, as well as the next day to get all of them done.
But at least afterward they would probably just need one more day to prepare the rest of the parts that were required, and the day thereafter, the ship could start being assembled, which would also take another few days. But even then, Eisen was incredibly happy with the speed everyone was working at since it was incomparable to real life.
And that did make a little bit of sense, at least. After all, here, a lot of people were physically stronger or faster than even top athletes were, just with the help of stats. And with the extra support of skills, that meant that they could work at speeds even machines may be jealous.
With that in mind, Eisen began to carve into the next significant part of the log to start cutting the ribs, just thinking about how glorious the finished ship may end up being. It would be incredibly huge, and large enough to fit a large number of people, supplies, and materials, and with the help of the others, it would be equipped with anything they needed while it still stayed incredibly beautiful.
And that just made Eisen happier than anything else could. After all, what use would such a large ship have for him alone? Exactly none! As that was the case with many things. Eisen could make dozens and dozens of items, which would all go to waste if it wasn’t for other people that would use the items every day. To Eisen, craftsmanship was something that should connect others.
And so, seeing a situation where so many people of all kinds of different races and situations came together to work on this one single project was just pure beauty to the old man’s eyes.
