Chapter 367 - Spatial Gems
Chapter 367 - Spatial Gems
While grinding his teeth against each other out of simple annoyance, Eisen continued to work on what he wanted to do before. After all, he had no idea how he was supposed to respond to what he was just told.
He was supposed to keep everything like Medieval Europe? What the hell was that supposed to mean? Eisen really, really had no idea what was going on, but for now, he wanted to just ignore everything and keep crafting. This world was the only place where he could do that now, and if there was anything threatening that, he would spend as much time creating things as he possibly could.
For now, the old man grabbed another material that he wanted to play around with, the Spatial Gem. There were a whole bunch of them in the Material Storage, so this was the best chance for Eisen to do just that without any hesitation.
And now, all he needed to do was to figure out how you were supposed to turn the spatial gem into something to make spatial storage available, and to his luck, Serio seemed to be able to help with that.
"Well, we do have a library, and as far as I’m aware, we should have a few books about such things in there. It might take a while to find the right one, however. Even if I have a strong awareness of what happens in this castle, it is still hard to figure out such things." The Town Guardian apologized, "But nonetheless, I will look for a few Books containing such methods." Serio added, and when he did so, Eisen raised his eyebrows in response.
"If there is one, could you also bring me a book about Magic Inscription? If it’s supposed to be a more advanced version of enchanting, it should be really useful in creating items." The old man pointed out, so the Town Guardian simply nodded his head and immediately disappeared in a cloud of mist, while Eisen was then left alone to work on something else.
He really wanted to work with Spatial Gems, but he couldn’t do that until he figured out the method to do so, so instead he figured he should work on a few other items that might be useful along the way, and as he did so he turned toward Constant.
"Could you grab a few flame and water gems for me?" Eisen asked, and before he knew it, the Core Helper swiftly disappeared and re-appeared with the materials in his hands.
"Alright, thank you." Eisen said with a smile, and then swiftly started working on more enchantments on the Marble-Surface, this time focusing mainly on the ’Setting’ enchantment, because he wanted to figure out how versatile this could become. In the end, the base effect was just a regular flame enchantment, but the settings were pretty compared to usual enchantments and their setting function that could be used by changing the amount of mana you pour inside of it, even if they actually took up about two times more mana than the base enchantment to function.
When Eisen tested this out and placed the enchantment onto the flame gem, he swiftly activated the enchantment and made the settings appear, which were really just two different dials.
One would allow you to change the size of the flame, and the other would allow you to change the heat of the flame. And while it would be much more useful to combine those two dials into one for the type of day-to-day use that Eisen wanted to make items for, he really just wanted to play around with this a little.
And when he did so, he got a really, really great idea, and swiftly sent a message to one of his grandchildren, asking her how much they managed to level up through fighting the regular beast-type monsters on the island, because the humanoid ones really seemed to be a little much for them for now, and Alnico swiftly replied to the old man, explaining a few of the things that they did up until now.
Seeing that they seemed to be doing pretty well level-wise, Eisen replied to her again, asking her and the others to come to the castle, because he wanted to give Al an item that he would be making soon, and that it might be a good time to work on a few basic items for the others as well, if Stahl didn’t take that role over yet.
Of course, Alnico quickly agreed, and Eisen told her that he would send over someone to escort them once they reached town so that nothing would happen, which would really just be the one of the lords, so that none of the monsters would attack them, as well as someone that the five players already knew, which would probably be Brody, just in case something happened and they needed to fight something they couldn’t deal with.
And then, Eisen quickly got to work on the item that he wanted to create, or rather, he started testing everything out a bit. The first thing that he wanted to make was a simple recording-device, for which he used some of the materials that he created using Raziel’s element.
He knew that Alnico was a huge fan of electronic music, and that she loved really futuristic gadgets. She actually seemed to be the most excited when she saw something so futuristic like a hologram back during the Prime Industries tour.
So, thinking that this would be a good chance to ’Rebel’ against whoever it actually was that was pulling the strings behind everything that was going on, Eisen chose to go all the way with this project.
And so, the actual base-item for the recording device wasn’t actually all that large, and basically just the size of a slightly bulky USB-Stick.
This small device had a few parts to it, for one, the part that would be able to actually ’Record’ something, which was a crystal infused with Raziel’s element. Then, there was a piece that was just there to transfer the information that was recorded to a small receiver, as well as a small piece made to save the data on the actual recording device.
And then, there was the part that Eisen really had to play around with now, the central piece, the ’Settings’ menu that would control everything. Eisen had a few ideas how he would be able to create something like that, but he really wasn’t sure if he would be able to do it just like he was planning to, because it would require a pretty large area for the enchantment.
On top of that, it came really close to programming, something that Eisen himself wasn’t really all that familiar with, but at the very least he was able to use his own mental image for a lot of different parts of it to make things work through the logic of enchantments instead of having to actually make it work through the direct logic of programming.
But even then, he still couldn’t manage to create what he wanted to on the Marble-Surface all that well. He would probably be able to manage everything if it was a bit larger, however. And just when he was thinking about all that, Serio returned with a few books in his hands.
"I found a few that might be useful to you. There’s a book about Gem-Usage with a chapter about Spatial-Gems, a few notes on different items, and as you wanted, a book about Magic Inscription." Serio explained, so Eisen slowly nodded his head in response, curiously flipping open the book for the Magic Inscription first. He hoped that he would be able to learn the skill soon and maybe use it for the items he wanted to make, but it seemed like that was destined to go wrong.
It turned out that Magic Inscription was an advanced version of Enchanting that you can get only when the Enchanting Skill hit Rank 5. Now that Eisen thought about it, that did make a lot of sense, but that was still kind of annoying. Although at that point, something else happened.
Like normal, he had activated his strength-bonus from his ’A Giant’s Strength’ racial skill when the cooldown ran out, and that was apparently enough to push him over the edge.
[A Giant’s Strength reached Level 100 in Rank 3, upgrading to Rank 4]
[Strength flows through your whole body, Skill Effect increased by 20%]
[Due to Ranking-up your A Giant’s Strength Skill, you gained +1 STR and +1 END]
With a slight smirk on his face, Eisen realized something else that this meant, something that he really didn’t make use of up until now would probably end up becoming far more useful.
Swiftly, Eisen chose to go forward and decrease his size as much as he possibly could, noticing that he was now just about 50 Centimeters tall. His maximum height probably gained another half meter or meter at least, so that was nice too, but for now, Eisen had to really make use of his tiny size.
Although, he did notice something just then... His clothes didn’t really shrink together with him all the way. "Hmm, so there’s a maximum range for that as well, huh..?" Eisen muttered to himself with a sigh and quickly increased his size again until he was back to normal and then turned toward Constant.
"Could you get me some leather and wool-cloth? If possible, the types that are most heat-resistant." Eisen asked the Core Helper, who swiftly disappeared in response, while Eisen figured this to be a good chance to work on the Spatial Gems. After all, he somehow had to store his different attires for certain sizes. He would later have to make another set for his maximum-increased size as well. It would take a little bit of time off of the time he had to work, but it was fine in the end.
For now, Eisen grabbed the book that Serio mentioned that was about different uses for gems, and then quickly skipped to the chapter for the Spatial Gems.
"’In order to create a Subspace with the help of a Spatial Gem, you require a Rank 4 enchanting skill.’ Good, I have that... And then... ’It is necessary to work very carefully, as the backlash from failing to enchant a Spatial Gem in such a way is quite aggressive’. Figures, to be honest... Wait, it’s just that?" Eisen asked surprised as he finally hit the place with the description of the enchantment that was needed to be placed onto the Gem, and the old man just sighed in response.
It was a relatively simple Three-Dimensional Enchantment. It could probably be enhanced pretty easily as well, though, exactly because it was so simple. The first thing that Eisen did was just grab one of the smaller Spatial Gems and then tried the three-dimensional enchantment that was described in the book out on it. And before he knew it, he had finished his first Spatial-Item. He didn’t really understand why he needed a Rank 4 Enchanting Skill, but it probably had to do with the overall stability of the enchantment, so it did somewhat make sense to the old man, even if he would’ve been thoroughly annoyed if he had noticed this fact before his Enchanting Skill hit Rank 4.
Either way, after finishing the small item, Eisen nodded his head with a bit of satisfaction and quickly tried it out, just pouring his mana into the spatial gem.
And immediately, his mana was pushed through the gem and formed a small, slightly glowing circle in front of Eisen.
Figuring that it wouldn’t hurt to try it out, Eisen grabbed a small tool that he had in his Apron and pushed it into the hole, and then immediately noticed that it disappeared and was instead replaced by what seemed to be a mana-version of the item, just floating above the circle. Although, the circle became a fair bit smaller in response to having the item put inside, which Eisen figured out was to simply show the amount of ’space’ still left inside of the gem.
