Chapter 37 Spark
Chapter 37 Spark
After savoring their food they returned to their small room.
Using the recovery serum and the anti-inflammation paste, they began to disinfect their wounds.
It made the wounds burn for just a quarter of a second but Kyle was amazed that Selene made no noise or threw a tantrum about it.
Once their wounds were tended to, Kyle and Selene began to talk about what they had sensed and thought during the fight.
Discussing this was important because the right decisions, thoughts, and movements lead them to victory.
By talking about what they felt could have been handled better, both could learn a lot from each other and work on their mistakes.
In the end, Kyle's combat experience consisted of nothing but simple spars against non-cultivators.
Other than that the knowledge he had accumulated in his past could be called his true treasure trove and a massive advantage!
Half an hour later they had concluded their combat discussion.
Post it, Kyle began to annex and merge the soul force his Spirit Soul had converted from the surroundings throughout the day.
This took only a few hours, and the Emerald Fox emerged on his lap afterward.
There was still some time left before midnight and Kyle finally decided to sleep and take some rest. He figured after working hard, he deserved a good night's sleep, which would replenish his stamina in the quickest way.
Before falling asleep, he asked Selene to cultivate as much as she wanted as there was nothing for her to do for the following day, either way!
Kyle had a few plans, but he didn't really need Selene's help to complete them.
Allowing Selene to sleep and cultivate whenever she wanted was the most efficient way for him to allow her to increase her cultivation base.
The next morning, Kyle woke up and opened his eyes while leaning against the bed.
He felt a weight on his lap and looked down to see that Selene had decided to rest her head on his lap once again.
'Why am I even lodging a room if nobody uses the bed??' He grumbled while shaking his head. Grabbing a pillow he carefully pushed it under her head before standing up.
Taking out a batch of wilted meligna grass, he utilized his Nurture ability to revive it and transform the wilted blades into freshly plucked ones.
It didn't require much of his energy which was an advantage.
As such, he could nurture the Emerald Fox's potential path a little bit.
Because Selene told him that she didn't feel any pain while cultivating, he decided to ignore her issues for the time being.
He would only look into it if it would obstruct her cultivation process once again.
If Kyle were to know that Selene had never cultivated without experiencing pain, he would have acted differently.
But, the young Lohar was good at hiding her emotions.
This made it impossible for Kyle to notice anything off about her.
With the fresh batch of meligna grass, he went to the pharmacy, where he found the same old pharmacist by the counter.
Each of them began to negotiate stringently, and Kyle was glad that he received 13 Maest crystals in exchange for the grass.
The amount of meligna grass had been slightly more than before, but its quality was much worse than what it had been in the first batch.
Thus, Kyle couldn't help but feel delighted at the small fortune he had received.
In the end, they had roughly plucked several batches of the grass around the same size a day earlier.
It was enough to allow them to earn more than 100 Maest crystals.
The morning dew was still shining on the grass Kyle was walking on as he decided to distance himself from the Alsa village.
Because of what had happened a day before, he wanted to practice a little with his ranked steel machete.
Kyle might have practiced with every existing weapon for a short period, but that was eons ago and in a different physical body!
His strength was much higher compared to that of his past life, but that was solely due to the soul force his body had merged with.
Practice made perfect, and Kyle's mind had been too restless to let him sleep soundly.
He had been haunted by the possibility of him, or even worse, Selene dying in an unexpected attack.
A sinking feeling of guilt had occupied his mind that he wouldn't be able to save her due to his low weapon proficiency.
Compared to Selene, his physical strength was not on par. Because of that, he was determined to make up for the difference in another way.
His strategic knowledge was much higher than hers, but that was the only thing he could boast about.
The Emerald Fox was running through the tall grass around Kyle, trying to copy him. It was trying to improve its agility and learn how to move smoothly through an irregular environment.
Like Kyle, the Emerald fox had just been born, and it had yet to learn how to use its body perfectly.
Its only advantage was that Kyle's memories and his maturity were shared with the Spirit Soul.
This meant that they had the same goal and purpose- to strive to become stronger!
Several hours later, Kyle returned as he saw a restless and black rabbit-eared Lohar running through the streets.
She was tearing up and desperately shouting his name.
This shocked him, and he couldn't help but rush out of the grass before Selene spotted him.
Relief broke out on her face and she used every ounce of strength stored inside her body to rush towards him. A fresh bout of tears trickled down her face as she jumped upon him.
Before Kyle knew it, she was embracing him tightly, while her legs were wrapped around his waist.
"I...I thought you left me!!"
Kyle had told Selene that he would leave in search of the grass early in the morning, but hearing her words while she was sobbing, made him sigh.
He held her with one hand and patted her head with the other.
"Everything is fine. I was just practicing my machete skills! Have you eaten something?"
Looking at her disheveled appearance, Kyle doubted that Selene had used the Maest crystal he had left beside her to buy something to eat.
As such, he was beginning to feel hungry and wanted to return to the tavern to eat something. However, before that Kyle tried to push Selene away from him.
She was still clinging to him tightly and left him no room to carefully free himself.
Furthermore, it was the first time for her to not obey him.
She simply denied moving away from him while shaking her head vigorously.
In response, Kyle could only slap his forehead while she continued to sob when he told her to get off of him.
Selene buried her head in the crook of his neck, while his shirt that was already drenched in sweat was now soaking her tears. Looking around helplessly, he had no other choice but to walk with her clinging to him like a terrified squirrel towards the city's center.
He ignored the lewd stares being thrown at him and continued to walk inside the tavern, where he was subjected to the same stares again.
Despite being hungry minutes ago, he walked up the stairs to enter their room instead of getting something for both of them to eat.
He had had enough of people staring at him weirdly.
As expected the Maest crystal was still lying on the ground, right next to the bed where Selene had slept.
Seeing this, he could only sigh before he carefully removed the backpack.
Moving with her clinging to him was difficult and he somehow managed to store the Maest crystals and the ranked black steel machete into the backpack again.
Even after that, Selene didn't seem to loosen her hold.
Because he was too weak to use force, he had to resort to other means to free himself.
This caused him to throw himself onto the bed that squeaked loudly as he fell on his back. Selene was still hugging him, and they both pressed in the mattress that was in fact compressed hay.
There was no need for Kyle to do anything. He simply stared at Selene, caressing her while trying to calm her down.
Not knowing what had scared her witless, Kyle simply assumed that she had a nightmare after he had left in the morning.
As such, Kyle was patient with her while continuing to calm her down.
"Everything will be fine. I'm here for you!"
Almost ten minutes had passed before Selene finally stopped sobbing.
Kyle didn't even realize when he had wrapped his arms around her in a loose hug. It was reassuring and she felt as if nothing in the entire universe could ever hurt her again.
Raising her head, she looked straight into Kyle's emerald eyes that were only a few centimeters away from hers.
They were gleaming vigorously and what she wanted at that moment was written plainly across her face. Her dark brown eyes were yearning for someone to love her unconditionally.
Subconsciously, without even realizing the gravity of what she said next, words she had never expected to say to someone in her life escaped her lips.
"Can you stay with me….forever?"
